Top down, or , bottom up?

Tom, did you cut that one end facing the camera down, or , is that the way it was made? And, how is it for fumes? Does most of the paint get drawn out? I have two cats and I don't want them breathing in paint fumes. Even though they seem to do pretty well with cigarette smoke, lol. What about the outside air coming in? Is that a problem as far as humidity, or , cold? I think I could manage something like this, I have a place that would work. -
Looks great, the chrome on the engine is awsome, did you do anything to that? Love the purple. Is this the Dragster, or , the Street Machine kit?

Nothing yet Carl, I'll get the new dash I have out today and clean it up so I've got a good idea where the tabs should be and how long/wide. Then I'll decide if I want to do the new one or not. It would be so much easier to just do the tabs, (any idea what sheet thickness that would be?) jeez then I'd be moving into the world of 'modifications' on a model, woooohoooo! I'll try to get something together to look at the stance also. Thanks Carl.

Great scores Al, I'm with Richard on the colors, light blue and maroon, only I'm seeing the Edsel (I didn't even know they made them in 1960!) in light blue (somewhere between robins egg and medium) with white interior and white top! Oh ya! And the Ford woody in maroon (to accent the wood) with light tan or light gray interior? Should be stunning builds when you're through!

Looks great Ira, do you have a color for it yet? -
Thanks Bruce. I painted that body 'outside' with a can of MM Panther Pink. What you see is just the paint, no polish (yet) etc,..

Thanks Tom and Tulio. I would love to try an air brush, trust me. Painting with cans outside is HELL, ok. Especially if you live on the edge of two giant prairies like I do. When the weather is not too hot/cold or humid the wind is blowing. So I have to constanly watch the weather forcast for days I can paint, it sucks. But, I love modeling, so , I deal with it as best I can. The main reason i don't have an air gun and a booth is the fact that I live on a very fixed income right now, otherwise I would. At some point I will break down and build one myself I guess. If I could find a sure fire design that didn't cost an arm and a leg I'd do it this summer. Anyway on the upside of things, my house next to my and including part of my front screen door now has some really cool purple on it from my current build! I love purple so it's ok. -

Now that we have the 'serious adult hobbyist' question out of the way can we continue with how you apply the paint? Top down, or , bottom up? -
Thanks Bob, and , Ira! An AAR Cuda sounds really cool.

Looks awsome! -
Yikes! That thing looks scary fast. Great build. You should build one like this with the engine in the back like The Little Red Wagon, that would be cool.

Tom, Do you have a particular method/steps that you use when you spray? Thanks. -
Thanks Larry and Lee! Kevin, good eye! It's on the other side, I need to turn the other three over, thanks! Mike, thanks for the tip and the photos, I will give that A LOT of consideration. Dan, I already have a new dash, but , I will consider Mike's suggestion. I've never done any work with sheet styrene before, I guess now might be a good time to start.

Thanks a lot Richard!

All '76 Ventura's should become pro-mods. Very cool Ron. -

That's gonna look great when you're done, love the red/satin black combo.

This is a build I started in 1999, really. I painted it, then put it back in it's box and quit modeling intil 2012. I then built the engine (Four-Barrel version) and again put it back in it's box and quit modeling until about six months ago. Two/three months ago I decided to get it out and finish it. First up was the 'Four-Barrel' decal on the air-breather, and , after two failed attempts I decided to build the 'Six-Pac' version, hence the color variation between the block etc,.. and the air breather top. So, that's where this thread picks up, hope you enjoy! A special shout goes out to 'Tubbs' for helping me with this build! Comments/tips are very welcome! First up is the kit box: Working on the Six-Pack in-take system and the wing: The engine installed: Interior mock-up and undercarriage: Wheels: Outer/top rim: kit chrome, rim wall: semi-gloss laquer, Hub: flat laquer over chrome, Center: MM steel. Tires: AMT Custom pack The body that was painted in '99, Scoops were painted recently: A couple more body shots: And now the current problem, I filed the bottom of the tabs on the dash, preventing proper location prior to interior installation: What it 'could/would have' look(ed) like: I'm now faced with doing another dash (major bummer), unless someone has a solution. Thanks for looking!

'69 dodge charger R/T _ clear coat and 3d rt logos
Speedfreak replied to crazyrichard's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Richard, I think the GT40 rims would look good on this car. But, maybe once the Charger rims are detailed they'll come to life, just some thoughts. This build has much potential. -
From Scenes Unlimited. 1/25 scale Mopar 'deep dish' steel wheels and Mopar '60's' steel wheels (two sets of four) and two sets of wheel backs, short post and regulars. They look fantastic! And, I see no flash anywhere! They look ready to paint. The instructions say all you have to do is wash them with warm (not hot) soapy water and let them set over night and they're ready to prime and paint, how easy can that be! I'm impressed.
