  1. Thanks for the responses everyone. I think the theory is that if you paint from the bottom up, (rockers;front/back etc,.) , it helps reduce 'runs. Because if you paint from the top down, the paint has a tendency to flow down anyway, so , if there's any paint build up for whatever reason you'll (potentially) end up with a bunch of sagging runs along the bottom edges of the piece. So I think what MsDano said about putting a light coat along the bottom edges first sounds reasonable, at least that's what I've been doing. It's hard to paint with rattle cans anyway, but , once you get it down you can produce fine results. In the end I guess whatever works for you is the way you'll do it.
  2. Great job Drew, looks like it's ready to rumble!
  3. I paint outside with rattle cans, (don't you wish you could to?) , my question is: Should I be painting from the bottom up, or , from the top down when say I'm painting a body? I know there is a general rule for this but I can't remember it. Thanks.
  4. Jonathan, that color is awsome! Looking good so far. That body looks really close to the 1:1 in scale, looks good man! The engine looks great too.
  5. Cool! Nice work! Fun to watch.
  6. I think it looks good as is Bob. Did you use any 'how to' reference or did you just cut? I've only chopped one top on a '32 and I just cut, It turned out ok. If those are the wheels and tires from the kit they look pretty good and BIG.
  7. Nice to see more competition cars like this being built lately. Looks really great!
  8. Looks good so far Bradley, this has sooooooooo much potential.
  9. Fantastico! This is looking great Richard, nice work on (everything!) the front grill. Have you got a color(s) in mind yet?
  10. Lookin' good Ira! Yer on a roll!
  11. Niko, this is gonna be a stunner (shockingly good) when you're finished. The BMF looks real good. '62 is one of my favorite Chevy's.
  12. Hello everyone, I've got a build question about the three little tabs on the inside of each wheel well. They are so defined and exact it looks like they should have a purpose but I can't for the life of me see what that might be. Are they just tabs from the mold that should be removed? Thanks.
  13. Ok Bob, work the magic. what engine(s) does the kit come with?
  14. I think that body looks great in that color. Can't wait to see it cleared! This car is looking great.
  15. Very nice Shane. That's one 'hot' ( ) comet for sure.
  16. One of my favorite cars growing up, nice job Jim.
  17. Great job Bob! You do better work than I do! There's a guy who has a product called 'The Detailer' it's a water based wash that comes in different colors, it's pretty easy to use and looks great. There's also a product called/made by (?) MIG that's an enamel based wash that some people use with great success. Your car looks great. I admire your tenacity in sticking with what at times was a difficult build. Congradulations!
  18. Vince, I like your ideas for this build. and 'glad' your gonna use a Ford power plant! The Weber idea is awsome. So, since you say 'traditional' do you mean the colors too?
  19. Ray, that looks awsome! the color combo is supreme! I've got a 69' charger I'm doing in that color. I think your colors look better than the original! The silver on the interior panels is killer! Nice and clean, lean and mean.
  20. x2? Those are some boomers indeed. And nice work. Lots of info in this thread.
  21. Looks good Jonathan. Let's race boys!
  22. Looks good, the paint color and wheels are awsome.
  23. Looking good Richard! The whole idea of what you are doing is cool, and, I agree with you, other wheels would be better. Although you could put small chrome 'moons' on those chrome steelies.
  24. That thing is BAD Bob! That car has ATTITUDE. If it were mine I'd finish up the front end and whatever else needs to be done then polish and wax and put it on display. That thing is awsome. Man you really did some nice work on this car considering what it was like in the beginning. (Fellate that sucker and fry it up!). Seriously though, you have done some astonding work here, you should be really proud.
