  1. Thanks Carl, I'll do my best to make it entertaining, lol. I think the purple is going to look great the more I look at it.
  2. These raced at Le Mans? that's amazing, what year? Very interesting subject Mark.
  3. I'll see if I can keep up with you Nick! Going to do more sanding now!
  4. Thanks Ray and Ira. Ya it's a really cool kit. It's an interesting color, my camera showed it as blue so I got it pretty close with software. It should look cool with the whitewall pie crusts on the rear and I'm thinking the big 'moons' on the front not sure yet. Right now I'm thinking black, maybe gloss for the frame and white for the roll bar. Maybe blue for the windows?
  5. Hello Everyone, This is my first WIP here so here goes: Altered Fiat Topolino. The Topolino ('little mouse' in Italian) model A was a small (one of the smallest cars in the world at the time) two seater sedan made to compete with the German Volkswagen. It was produced from 1937 to 1948 and had a small four cylinder engine (569 cc) that produced 13 bhp and could achieve a top speed of 53 mph and about 39.2 miles per U.S. gallon. My how things were altered in the late 50's, early 60's by American drag racers. Right now just prepping the body parts, color is MM Bright Light Purple. All comments are welcome!
  6. Beautiful 40 Ford Ray, very nice. I think the display works well, something different.
  7. There are many paints you can use, just make sure that (the solvents) they are not too 'hot' for styrene plastic. Many people on here can give you more advice. You can also do a search on this site and read about the paints people use.
  8. Ken, Red Frog Hobbies and Strada Sports both show the HRM kit but they both want like $175.00 for them. Wow, The placement of the engine in this car is unreal, no wonder it handled so poorly.
  9. Jonathan, In the little window that pops up when you put your curser on someones screen name your's says: " I suck at painting.
  10. Hey Erik, you can do it all the ways you have mentioned. Some people even cut templates that go over the outer rim. I would just brush paint them.
  11. x2 what he says. I'm even more critcal, if their rating is below 97% good I don't buy. I read 'all' the seller ratings before I buy, many times the bad ratings are not their fault. I've bought several kits off ebay in the last six months, all have been what they were supposed to be. I love ebay!
  12. Oh man, I don't wanna do a new dash! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh! Please no! That's the most detailed dash I've ever done, first time I've ever done wood ( ) But, I guess I will if I have to, and , it looks like I might.
  13. Hot D all mighty Bob! That thing is lookin' fine! You're taming the beast! Just take your time on the BMF, (nice and easy) and, don't drink a bunch of coffee beforehand. Get in the 'X-ACTO' groove if you know what I mean.
  14. Looks great, there's not a cop in the world that's gonna spot that thing on the road!
  15. That's purdee.
  16. Looks like they must have found that car near a nuclear test site. Looks great!
  17. Looks great Scott. I think the one where it's going straight up is my favorite shot.
  18. I'm having a heck of a time getting the dash to fit in my Duster. This is after reading many threads about having problems with ti fitting ahead of time. Here's the problem: I have filed/sanded both the tabs on the dash, and , the slots on the door panels and it still does not want to fit right. I think I might have made a mistake when I sanded the tabs on the dash prior to painting thinking that is where the problem would be after reading about the problem in several threads, it didn't help. So now I'm stuck as to what to do, HELP! I don't want to do the dash over, please, not that! The vents on the A/C aren't too good.
  19. AND, I just found out today, you can use 'one' coupon on 'one' item per day, can't beat that. Until today I thought because the expiration dates on the coupons run weekly, I thought that you could only use them once a week. Duh. Bill, if you go to their website it directs you to the coupon, or , if you goggle Hobby Lobby a link for the coupon comes up. Hey Jonathan? how's the painting coming along?
  20. I got a set of AMT parts pak (PP008) Goodyear 'Blue Streak' slicks at HL for $4.79 plus tax, $5.22! (40% off coupon). Wooohooo! What a deal!
  21. That's awsome, in half those shots it looks like a model car.
  22. So some news person thought it was a neat story. The bow tie thing is just a small part of the overall car which looks pretty impressive to me. We are living in the second golden era of the American push rod V-8, enjoy it while it's still here, there may not be a third. World class sports cars cost lots of money, $75K is quite possibly a bargin for this level of performance.
  23. I think you may be right Jonathan, I hope so.
  24. I've been talking to the guy in my local HL that stocks the model/train etc,. section and he also is of the opinion that nobody builds models any more. I've seen their model section shrink considerably in the last six months. I did find some AMT parts-pack Goodyear "Blue Streak" slicks (PP008) for get this,....$7.99 and with my 40% off coupon that came to like $4.79 with tax,...$5.22! (I paid $15.99! for the Goodyear "Polyglas" GT tires pack at my local HS!) They only had one pack, sitting up on the top shelf by itself at one end of the model car section, one! For that price they could sell those things all day long! But they won't because the people up in 'corporate' are convinced no one builds models any more. That's what the guy told me, he or , no one in the store has any say on the matter of what they stock, it all comes from corporate office. I wonder if the store manager has any say? Next time I'm there I will see if I can talk with him. The people up in corporate are making a huge miscalculation I think, and hope.
  25. Funny, last week I was looking for a Cheetah kit on-line, nada , except for the HRM kit that JC mentions. Hard to believe no one ever kitted this car back in the day. Thanks for the thread Greg, what a great car.
