  1. Agreed, very nice site and very much appreciated. Russ
  2. yep. promised my wife I wouldn't try again, doesn't mean I don't still want to die. Russ
  3. She appeared on an episode of the old 'Who's line is it, anyway'. Back with Drew Carey. One of the best ones in my opinion. Everybody is dying this year but me. Not fair. Russ
  4. thanks, again. With this guy, it HAS to be a kit, no kit bashing or modifying. He is no where near able or wanting to do that. I saw a 1/43rd scale diecast(if I am remembering correctly) of the movie car on Ebay. I am going to let him know those exist. He'll probably be happy with that. Russ
  5. Thanks, all. I am going to tell the guy that all 1953 Corvettes were convertible only from the factory. He's probably thinking of a different year, but it's hard to tell with him. Russ
  6. Ah, thanks. this is another NFM (not for me) car. Guy wants the 53 but with a hardtop. Not sure if he is confused or what. I'll let him know. Would a hardtop from say the 57 AMT kit work on the 53 without lots of work? Saw a bunch of those for sale. Could tell him he needs to buy that kit as well and give the leftovers to me . Thanks, Russ
  7. Seems the only 53 out (AMT?) is only a convertible. Is there a hardtop version, or would resin be the only way to go? Thanks, Russ
  8. probably just need a lot more mixing. a toothpick probably won't do it. Russ
  9. But with me I can just go pick them up, Greg wouldn't have to deal with shipping. Russ
  10. A bit late, but I just sent an email to Pace asking if their booths are lacquer and aerosol can safe. Will post an update when I hear anything. If you use the right fan to build your own, I don't see the Pace ones being any safer. More convenient, yes. Buying ready to go is always more convenient. I'm looking into the bilge blowers. Have to make sure that the one you pick is USCG 183.410 Compliant: Ignition protected from what I have seen. I would like to get more input on how these types actually work for our use. I know Miatatom is using one, but his thread discussing his seems to have disappeared. I've tried clicking on the link he has posted several times and get a not found error. I would at this point probably get one of the 240cfm bilge blower ones, and the controller to slow it down if needed. And these are pretty much all 12VDC, so a power supply of some sort is needed. Just not financially ready to start on building one right now. It's nice and dry (and pretty warm) here, so a booth isn't mandatory. Russ
  11. I wouldn't be building one for this guy. And he certainly can't do it himself. And being careful and deliberate is not a given with him either. I'm not going to be the one to tell him it is ok to use flammable stuff in a non flammable booth. He can afford a real spray booth if he decides to go that route. I'm not too sure he is going to stick with this anyway. I'm just trying to find ways for him to decide if he wants to really do this before spending a ton of cash. Thanks, Russ
  12. Thanks. I'll let him know about the 1/16th ones, see if he is interested. Modifying the body is beyond his skills and physical limitations at this point though. He might want to check this out.http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rolls-Royce-Phantom-III-Sedanca-DeVille-1-OF-ONLY-3-KNOWN-EXAMPLES-/391436734042?forcerrptr=true&hash=item5b23728e5a:g:bQQAAOSwuAVW1fYv&item=391436734042 Although I don't think he has that much cash anymore. And no where to keep it. Russ
  13. Not necessarily the movie one, just any Phantom III? A friend is getting back into modeling and wants to build one. He's a Bond movie fanatic. Thanks, Russ
  14. Well, so much for that idea. I guess I wasn't thinking this all the way through. Asked about the paints from the website above and got this response. "Hi Russ, The water base paint itself isn't flammable, however the propellant is. Hope that helps. Thanks,Howard" Guess I will tell the wife's ex to either buy an expensive booth or just deal with having to go outside. Or try spraying indoors and hope he doesn't cause problems. Russ
  15. It's a generic type of funny car from that era. Tires are a bit overdone, but otherwise it's pretty close. Russ
  16. Newest for me is a 2005 Cadillac Escalade that was given to me. Other than that it stops at the mid 70's-some funny cars and the Firefighter Mustang II. And all the way back to the 20's. Most of mine are show car types, mainly Tom Daniels. Several drag race cars. Not many factory stock types of any era. Even those are planned for drag or custom builds. Oh, I do have a few that would be model year 2300 or so. Star Trek. Russ
  17. I clicked on this thinking you meant Ozzie as in Ozzy Osbourne. I think you meant Aussie? Oh, well. Russ
  18. I have unwittingly gotten my wife's ex back into modeling. He probably hasn't built a model in 40 years or more. He lives in an extended stay hotel, so his options are very limited. He is wanting to spray the bodies and maybe other parts. Going outside isn't really an option for him for physical reasons. So I thought of acrylic paints. Problem is I don't know of any that are water based in a spray can. Are there any? He would be getting a booth like I have which is definitely NOT for flammable materials. The only way he could do an airbrush would be to use the canned propellants, which would get expensive fast. And I am not sure if he would follow thru on keeping them clean. Let's just say he has a history of not doing that. Right now he is saying he just won't paint the bodies, but I think he will lose interest after a couple if he can't. He also asked me about brush painting the bodies. I told him it's not really a good idea. I know a few people can do that and make them beautiful, but this guy isn't one of those. Buying a real spray booth is not totally out of the question, but I think if I told him the pricing he would just give up instead. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks, Russ
  19. It's in PV mall. Go in the Starbucks entrance and turn right. Down a few stores. Small place. Lots of trains, Hot Wheels, and Spawn stuff. Some Star Wars. A few old car kits. Really old. He had two I really wish I could get. The Revell 55 and 56 Chevies. I thnk 1970's releases but not sure. The 56 is green on the box. Both with opening doors and trunks. $25 each. Boxes taped shut, so unknown conditions. He also has a Revell (I think) 1/144th scale shuttle with launcher. Couldn't see the price. So if you are going to PV mall anyway check t out. But I wouldn't make a special trip unless you know he has something you want. Unless you are into trains, especially HO. He has lots of stuff for those, including Walther(?) Kits. Russ
  20. OK, I will. Might try to go tomorrow or this weekend at any rate. I need a bit of a roadtrip and my mother in law is driving my wife crazy so she wants to get away for a few hours as well. Yes, mil lives with us. For the most part it is good, we would starve without her some times. But once in a while..... Russ
  21. The Camaro Heavy Hugger was reissued sometime in the last 15-20 years. I remember seeing them at stores. I am pretty sure I even bought one. But I've never seen the Mustang reissued. I don't remember when or where I bought the one I have now. I know it was around that same time frame. Either a swap meet or Ebay. I managed to not sell it even when I was desperate and sold things like my AlaKart/29 Ford double kit. I pretty much cried when that happened, but since a 69 hardtop was my first running car there was and is no way that one will ever be sold by me. Russ
