One More Craft Paint Question
russosborne replied to raildogg's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
That isn't a 50 50 mix. You want 1 part paint to 1 equal part of thinner to have a 50 50 mix. . So if you are using 2 ozs of paint you need 2 ozs of thinner. Russ -
I'll be there if my wife is out of the hospital by then. No joke, 6 weeks as of today. Russ

The Card's have had two teams this year, unfortunately the wrong one showed up today. Oh, well. At least now I have no real interest in watching the super bowl. Russ

russosborne replied to N~8~Ball's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Thanks Dan. I stopped in the B and N at Val Vista and Baseline today. They had it, but only had one person working the cash register and I decided not to wait. LOOOONNNNNGGGG line. Russ -

What are your 2016 building plans.
russosborne replied to B-Ram's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I would like to completely build a model. Started a bunch, but need to actually finish one. Right now I need to work on getting a space to build though. Tried to use the closed laptop as a bench, didn't work well. Russ -
The front sheet metal (especially the very front, grille, headlights, etc) are significantly different. As are the bumpers. This is something I am going to have to deal with too if I want to make it into a 74 like my real car. Although I could make it a model of the car as it sits, then I wouldn't have to worry about any front sheet metal at all. Russ

Yay Pinto wagon. I have a 74 wagon 1:1 project car. Not perfect, but it's a good starting point. Russ

That card is too funny. And true. Next month it will be10 years ago that my new (at that time) wife and I moved from Phoenix to Ohio, which was where I lived until I was 10. We lasted 8 years. Driving in the snow (40ish miles each way) was what finally convinced me to move back to the Phoenix area. My wife still wants to go back there. If I could be there and not have to work I probably would go back. Russ

Wiring question
russosborne replied to Againmikewins's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Just wanted to answer this question. Fords with this type of ignition/starting wiring used a special resistance wire that ran from the ignition switch, they did not use a ballast resistor. But maybe I shouldn't be giving away secrets to a Chevy guy. Russ -
Eldon dragstrip scale? Had working Christmas Tree.
russosborne replied to russosborne's topic in Model Car Racing
Thanks. I would like to go to that one someday, only been (used to be almost a regular over 10 years ago) to the one in Phoenix. Problem is lack of cash makes it hard to go to those places. Russ -
tools required for styrene?
russosborne replied to jmk98's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks, that was what I was afraid of. Still, it shouldn't be too hard to mount that base to a piece of wood to give it some stability. For the price I think I will give it a shot. Russ -
I currently have a cheapish Yamaha 4 string bass and a little Fender rumble 15 amp. I am trying (once again) to get back into playing. I never was real great, but back in the late 80's I had some talent. Main issue has always been I can't play by ear. So I never could get into a band. They never had sheet music I could learn from. One thing I did learn was it doesn't matter how good the equipment is if you don't work at it. I do really miss my old 80's BC Rich Warlock bass I had back then though. I also at one point back then had an Ovation Ultra Bass with a whammy bar. Now THAT was fun. Oh, I also played a bit at guitar in high school and while in the Navy. Never good at it either. My only real guitar was a Gibson Melody Maker I bought used in 79. I screwed up and didn't take it out to sea with me once and the place I lived in while on shore got broken into and it got stolen. Nowadays my fingers are too fat to really play a guitar, unless it is a 12 string with the second set of strings removed. My main problem in life is that I don't like having to practice to get better. Makes playing music and even building models tough. Russ

Greg, How sturdy/stable is that when you are using it? It looks like it might be kind of wobbly with the small base. I really need one if it is pretty stable. Both for models and doing wiring/soldering when I am working on wiring harnesses. Thanks, Russ -

Thanks, Dan. I've seen that. Is that the same track that was at the 43rd Ave and T-bird swapmeet or is this a second track? I'm obviously not much of a get out and do things in public person, as seen by my lack of attendance at the club meetings. The Eldon track is just something from my youth I would love to have again, but they are just too expensive for me. Russ -
Not a kit, but one of the model mags from the mid or later 60's had a two or three part article on how to build a balsa dragster. I was only 7 or 8 at the time and it was way beyond me to even try. Wish I could find the magazine now, not sure I could do it even now but it would be great to reread the article. It always fascinated me. Russ
