  1. Great work, Neil! The "Badman" build is my favorite; the best interpretation of that kit I've ever seen.
  2. Nice work! Interesting and diverse subjects, too.
  3. Excellent work! That Cord is outstanding.
  4. Outstanding weathering!
  5. Great stuff! Especially the '60 Imperial and Desoto.
  6. Really nice paintwork. Love the barrelnose Ford pickup!
  7. Off topic, but around 1980 in a Bristol, PA thrift store I found a terrific-looking 1930s yellow and green catalin plastic Motorola radio in working condition for $5.00. When I moved to Philly to go to art school in '83 sold it to a promo collector buddy for $35. A few years later read a newspaper article on collectible radios showing the red and black version with a value around $3,500! My consolation was that the yellow and green one I'd sold for $35 was only worth around $2,500 or something...
  8. Beautiful build! Don't forget to foil the vent window frame!
  9. Masterful job on an under-appreciated kit! Love the color combination.
  10. Well I can answer #1 at least... The 312 is a completely different engine than the 302. The 312 was descended from Ford's first generation overhead valve V-8 that debuted in 1954. The 302 is descended from a small V-8 that was first produced in 1962 in the new mid-size Fairlane. There are significant external differences.
  11. Really sharp color combo!
  12. The TD kits have always seemed to me to mark the beginning of Monogram's long decline and were pretty high on the list of reasons why I continued to build 72nd scale WW2 aircraft from the late '60s to the mid '70s.
  13. Great new parts in this release! A little disappointed that the Fiesta caps are designed with that huge flange, but the level of detail makes them without doubt makes them very desirable. Love that we get plated and non-plated speed parts for the engine, too! It's a good thing for Revell that they didn't release this one first! The decal taillights are ridiculous.
  14. Agree with what Skip said. The leather as well is going to look out of scale in anything smaller than 1/16 (even that's pushing it). Many materials, especially leather and fabric, are best represented in scale with paint, through textures (from matte, semi-matte, to gloss) and pre- or post-shading.
  15. Chop looks great!
  16. James, be careful when polishing the windows as the clear parts in AMT/SMP kits from '59-'60 are prone to developing internal stress cracks over time even, without handling and flexing. I've had some success using the same polishing kit used for rubbing out paint (finer grits only if possible) then Novus plastic polish following by cleaning with Windex. Critical last step is a dip in Future ("Johnson's Clear with Future Shine" or whatever the latest name is) clear acrylic which does an amazing job minimizing the effect of any stress cracks, fine surface scratches, and reducing distortion through the thicker-than'scale kit "glass." Hope that helps.
  17. AMT '58 Ford! Lack of more disposable income, and intimate knowledge of the work involved to make an accurate model from it, prevents me from further attempts to corner the market! Had two 1/1s, plus Mom & Dad had a two-door wagon when I was a kid.
  18. The '61 Merc HT was available as a kit with opening hood and engine. The AMT '60 Galaxie "Town Victoria" (Ford-speak for four-door hardtop) was never available in kit form. Sadly, all the '60 promos will display some warpage, which is actually a symptom of the more basic problem, shrinkage. $35 for both models seems like a decent deal, particularly if the Merc was molded in non-warping cycolac ABS plastic versus shrink and warp prone acetate.
  19. AMT '60 Buick taillights would be a direct swap. Their '50 Ford convertible that's been reissued a thousand times, has clear red copies of these lights. Looking forward to seeing where you go with this build.
  20. Wow, those Toronado-esque wheelcovers are interesting! I guess they're supposed to be used with the stock trim rings?
  21. Heck, I'll go even further, no more reissues either until they fix the '58 Plymouth. And, yep, I'd love to see a '56 Mercury Montclair hardtop. Even more so a '57 Buick Century or Special two-door hardtop. Preferably from Moebius. Trumpeter is welcome to continue making nothing but military stuff.
  22. Nice build of an interesting looking car.
  23. AMT shouldn't be permitted to release one more new kit until they correct the body and engine in the '58 Plymouth!
