  1. Really nice build of an unusual subject!
  2. One of my favorite model Deuces ever, Brian! Here're the ones I've done (sorry, not a Revell kit in the bunch!)
  3. Nice job! Photos could still be a little larger, even in the larger view. 1000 pixels wide at 72 ppi is ideal.
  4. Great stuff! The police cars are particularly realistic! What's the story on the Diplomat; is that based on a diecast?
  5. You do some really nice work! Very interesting subjects, too!
  6. Beautiful work, Brian. Nice variety, too!
  7. Quite a variety of builds. I like the Porsche and the '64 Impala the best.
  8. Outstanding build of a great old kit!
  9. Beautiful build, Marcos!
  10. When I was about eight years old in the very early '60s, and just discovering model cars, having received several AMT annual and Trophy series kits as gifts, I was really excited to receive from my Grandparents a kit of a '60 OLDS 98 CONVERTIBLE! Talk about exciting! Talk about disappointing! It was a Palmer! Not only did it look horrible, but it was really hard to build! As young as I was I could tell that it was garbage. Later, interspersed with the great AMT and Monogram kits I received or purchased with my allowance, were gifts of two(!) Palmer Sting Rays, which were at least as bad as the Olds! In fact the Sting Rays and the Olds had the same swell chassis and engine block as in this Palmer Porsche (in the Porsche it's flipped so the engine's in the back, of course.)... Pretty sweet, huh? In order to get an AMT '58 Ford I had to give this thing a home. It's kinda grown on me. As a youngster I was also soundly defeated by Revell's original SWC Willys, and never built another of their car kits, until much later when I built their '56 Chevy two-door sedan (with opening doors, trunk, etc) which is a whole 'nother story. These days I try not to build horrible kits... Which is why the AMT '58 Plymouth Belvedere and Trumpeter Bonneville still remain unbuilt on my shelf!
  11. Beautiful job, Ron! I really like the detail painting on the spinner centers and all the emblems; just perfect.
  12. Beautiful build, Tom! A classic look in candy red!
  13. Wow, that's pretty neat! And if you're looking for a rust-free '58 Desoto this is probably your only option!
  14. Nice work!
  15. There you go! Nice solution. That'll give you more reveal on those beautiful spinner caps and a lighter (slimmer) looking quarter panel much closer to the 1/1! Thanks, Bud. You inspired me to pull my Dodge outa the box to see what it'll take to get it back in-progress, though I'm thinking curbside. I'll leave the full detail thing to guys like you and Bill, with better hands than mine!
  16. Yeah, Bill, you see what I mean though, right? Or am I crazy? (Never mind the second question...) Maybe I just have a thing about wheel arches and rooflines 'cause subtle inaccuracies in that stuff make me nuts! Couldn't leave the ones on the '59 Fury alone either... As for the RC2 '58 Plymouth, once you replace the roof, all you have to do is replace the body, then your home free!
  17. Looking forward to this build! The '59 Dodge is one of my favorite cars and I've got one I started ages ago. For the most part Johan's model is pretty accurate, but one subtle thing I noticed in researching the Dodge and looking at them at car shows was that they didn't get the shape of the rear wheel arch quite right. On the real car it's larger, more angular and sweeps up higher, closer to the bottom edge of the horizontal molding. The trailing edge is longer and sweeps back farther than it does on the kit. To reshape it is a fair amount of work, including rebuilding the flared lip, but it's worth it, taking the look of Johan's body from "nice but a little off," to "just perfect!" Here's a side shot of a nice ragtop found on the web that shows the shape of the wheel arch real well (just ignore the cheesy-looking wheels!)...
  18. Beautiful! I have to get this kit!
  19. Cool! Very aggressive look, with the low stance and grey primer.
  20. Thanks, Guys! I appreciate your kind words!
  21. That's gotta be a rare kit! Nice Save!
  22. Very cool, Lyle! The Hemi looks great! Love the stop sign, too!
  23. Great tutorial at every level, Bill!
  24. Johan '59 Sport Fury stripped and rebuilt as a custom-painted, slightly "raked" daily driver circa 1960. New chrome on bumpers and taillights by Little Motor Kar Co. Modelhaus repro Johan '58 Dodge Lancer caps. Lake pipes from Revell '59 Impala hardtop "customizing kit." Added details include scratch windshield wipers, antenna. Clear portions of steering wheel added from AMT '62 Catalina. Weatherstripping added to side window opening with Evergreen strip. Vent windows replaced using thin PETE clear plastic from egg carton. Added a 1960 Pennsylvania license plate with the same registration code as the car that inspired the build, a Sport Fury ragtop painted in northern California in about 1960 by Jim Roten. Just for the hell of it, a scallop job group shot!...
