  1. Small update on the Pete mixer. The cab is painted. I had a little bleeding at my tape lines, but no biggie. There is a local Mcneilus shop that I keep meaning to stop at for reference pics for all of the lines on the body. So no more progress than paint on this one. This next one is very special to me. Its a Jim Etter resin cab, so this is piece of history as far as truck modeling goes. Its a Mack B-81 sitting on a Dm600 chassis.Im going to leave it curbside(with running gear) because I do not want to cut on this cab. I also built a dump trailer for it with a tandem walking beam suspension. The rear set up was built using Mack, and Rockwell parts from the Autocar kit. Here is a snap KW that Ive been tooling around with. The frame was turned into full C channel using styrene strip. The rear crossmember was moved forward and frame shortened, because it stifks out too far past the wheels. Sleeper removed abd rear cab panel built, scratchbuilt headache rack, modified AMT 5 spokes mated to the inner snap hubs. Im thinking of adding some tool boxes.
  2. Thats a Mack H-67. Theres a build thread going on for a Mack H-63 on the workbench. Check it out.
  3. Dan this thing is looking better and better. That body looks like it was made for it. This is really a great looking build.Keep up the good work.
  4. " Every gear jammer knows his name, swear hes got ice water runnin in his veins foot like lead, nerves like steel, hes gonna go to glory ridin 18 wheels" Ive got Eastbound and down, the legend, and Amos Moses on my ipod at the shop. I definitly dig some Jerry Reed.
  5. You guys ever heard "Diesel smoke, Dangerous curves" or " Give me 40 acres to turn this rig around" ? These, and Phantom 309 are my favorite trucker songs. I dont know why, but I always pictured Phantom 309 as a Mack LTL. dont bother with the Sawyer Brown version and a rare occasion in which I think the remake is better than the original
  6. Thanks guys. I opted to build a new tailgate that better matches the construction of the body. I also built a fender for the dump body due to the tires sticking out past the sides. They still need more work, but Im currently trying to decide if Im happy woth them. Tell me what you think.
  7. Nice work on that chassis Dan. This is gonna look great.
  8. Thanks Gino Thanks gator. I was thinking the same thing about the tailgate. I just kinda sat down and started building it, then I held it up to the bed an realized it made the bed look weak. I will probably save this tailgate for another build and build a new one for this.
  9. Thanks guys. I had a little time on the Mack today. The front bumper is pretty much finished up. I built a tailgate did a little more work to the bed.
  10. Wow Dennis! You are really knocking this one out of the park. This is some very impressive scratchbuilding. You have raised the bar on us.
  11. I found this old dude on side of the road in Picayune MS. It got a 250 Cummins and Hendo rubber block susp. The cab is pretty rough. The windows have been rolled down for years. The door handle almost ripped out of the door from all of the rot. i will add more later
  12. Outstanding build. This one looks great. We used to have a 93' 377 with a 3406. That truck was a beast. You have done a great job with all of the extra added details. It really takes it to the next level.
  13. Bob, heres the diamond plate I use. Its very thin, and comes in 8x10 sheets.
  14. Nice work Pat. This is a great looking truck. This will look good sittin next to that old orange GMC.
  15. Excellent job! The upgraded details of this really make it pop. The steering, ac lines, stripe pattern, radiator struts, and the cab glass gaskets are all outstanding details. This might be the best build of this kit that Ive seen.
  16. Small update for tonight. I trimmed the rims in silver, made some brackets to hold the battery boxes(I almost left them off bc the aussie trucks have air starters, mbut the frame looked bare), moved the fuel tanks back, started working on the front bumper, and mounted an air tank. I could only find one tank, so Ill have to dig for another.
  17. Thanks a lot guys. I appreciate the good comments. Hi Bob, how are you? I noticed the tanks right off, I just havent moved them yet. I lined them up with the cab, not taking into account the tire size. As for the sheen of the tires, Im planning on using dull coat on the tread and leaving the sidewalls a little glossy. As for the rams Im not sure yet. I would like to have dual rams, but I dont want to get carried away with scratch building so I may just use the kit parts. The diamond plate on the fenders is very thin from plastruct. I will try to find the package and give you the number. Its very easy to bend and roll around edges. Thanks Dennis.
  18. Thanks for the kind words guys. Dennis, Im sorry to say thats just some sloppy glue. This update is just to show that I found my paint color. I was looking for an orange red, and I tried one that had a bad reaction. Its ok though because I didnt lke the shade. Its good that I only tested it on the bottom of the bed. I found a Chevy red orange engine paint that is just what I was looking for. I gave it a shot on the spokes.Im very happy with it. What do you guys think? The rims will be trimmed in silver
  19. Thanks Sean. This weekends update on the Mack. The fenders are pretty much finished. I dont have any photos showing the back ends of the fenders at the doors. I added some headlight protection just because I thought it needed it, being a quarry truck. I threw it in some primer just see how things were looking. It looks like its just a hair bigger than the Brockway
  20. Very cool conversion. I have thought of doing this same thing, as I have a few of the diecast trailers. Keep up the good work.
