KW C500 prime mover
Superpeterbilt replied to Tesla's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Dennis this came out spectacular. The colors look great, the truck is just super clean and amazing. This really all came together perfectly. -
Ive been wanting to this for awhile, and I decided to tackle it today. My plan was to cut the top down even with the sides, cut down the tailgate, and make it a tandem. To start, I cut down the front, then the inner liner. Then I glued in the liner Next, I shortened the tailgate I cut some styrene sheet to plate the back of the tailgate

TEREX OIL FIELD TRAILER
Superpeterbilt replied to Swamp Dog's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I think this is the first time Ive said this, but DANG!! Thats awesome -
With all of the Diamond Reo's currently being built, I was moved to pull mine down. The tri axle to be specific. I filled in the holes in the hood and started puttying. I did some work to the dump body as well. I added graceful curves to the cabguard, and started building the frame for the tailgate. I swapped out the missmatched tanks for a set of Autocar tanks. I would like to have it in paint by the end of the weekend.

Peterbilt 359 from AMT kit
Superpeterbilt replied to Roadrunner's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Good luck to you man, and you couldnt have picked a cooler kit to start off with. To me this older model Peterbilt is very Hot Rod because of the squared doors and smaller windshield. Its one of my favorite kits. Have fun! -
Not a huge update, but a big piece of the body nonetheless. I still needed engine clearance after widening the hood. I made two large cutouts on the side of the hood that mimic the shape of the air cleaner cutouts, but very exaggerated. This gave me the clearance I needed, and added a new design feature to the body. The body is getting close to being complete.I also decided on some wheels. I have the Paystar 5 holes out back, and my resin 5 holes up front.

Identity Crisis
Superpeterbilt replied to Danno's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
These are just transport tires. Its so the truck doesnt get taken out by an overpass while its being trailered. Judging by the fact that it has hydraulic steering, its runs pretty big tires. -
I am very thankful for this forum as well. Grateful, actually. Grateful for the friends I have made in just a year of being a member. It has totally revived my building, and Im more passionate about it now than ever before. This forum being the "hub" of so many scattered builders from state-to-state-to-country-country. I have learned a TON from every different type of build shared here. It has been therapeutic to say the least. I think we all raise the bar on each other, and were all keeping the hobby alive. I dont whats to become of future generations, but they dont know what theyre missing. All I can about this forum is Thanks! Its a pleasure to be here.

Revell snap Peterbilt
Superpeterbilt replied to Old Buckaroo's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I think the color looks great Sean. The decals look perfect with the green. As for the wheels, I really dont know. Frame color for the rears with a silver trim ring, and silver for the front with a frame color trim ring? -
The Peter Plane
Superpeterbilt replied to Superpeterbilt's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Yeah, I brought it too a club meeting, and on the way out of the hobby shop the wing hooked the door and it pulled it right off of the tray I was carrying with 6 other trucks on it that I was not going to drop to catch it, so I just had to watch it smack the parking lot and shatter. As for Oscar, hes growing in the middle for sure. Lazy Bones Jones loves riding in the truck though. When he was a pup I brought him on a trip to Florida and he whimpered the entire way there and back. Now, hes not happy unless hes riding shotgun. -
The Peter Plane
Superpeterbilt replied to Superpeterbilt's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
My plan for the paint scheme on the PeterPlane is to do the whole thing in Alclad with the shark face on the side of the hood. The plan for the Pete Drag truck is white body, red frame, sort of a Super Boss inspired theme. The Double Dozen KW will be jet black. Oscar says Howdy! (hes a country dog) -
Its beginning to look a lot like a General! I use the same techinique of using thin styrene as joint backing when piecing together scratchbuilt bodies and cabs. It really helps hold it all together and makes it much stronger for sanding and shaping. Ive gotten too aggressive with sanding and cracked a few pieces apart, but this fixes that. Keep up the good work.

Exceptional work. The brass leafs are defintley a step up. Can I ask exactly how you got such a clean bend at the end? -
The Peter Plane
Superpeterbilt replied to Superpeterbilt's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
After getting some grief from a friend about not finishing this, I pulled it down and got back to work. The reason I put it up was it suffered a nasty spill onto some concrete. It was pretty damaged, and after all of the work put in I was pretty disheartened. Ive repaired the damage, except the front axle is still broken. I rebuilt all of the hood, and finished filling in the various holes. I proceded with getting some more of the rear body built, but Im not happy with part of it. I dont know how I want to fix it yet, so Im leaving it be. As soon as the body is wrapped up, I need to finish the drivetrain, fuel tank, cockpit, and I think its going to have a roll cage. I also added the rest of the parts to the wings. Questions , comments, critisizm, and ideas are always welcome. Oscar Jones dropped by to check out the progress -
Ya gotta love these ugly things too

thats the plan. The cab would have to be narrowed a pretty good bit, but thats how I would go about it. Ive seen a Marmon build on another forum with a Paystar cab and it looks great.
