I can't believe how well the parts fit. I agree with a prior post to shorten it up. A chop would look very nice as well.

Flat black, set of Moon's.....yup, that's what I'd do!

I found spraying flat black works great for me. It goes on nice, sands nice, and when you hit with clear you never would have thought it started out flat black.

Thanks for the info on the putty. Do you use the stuff that takes no hardener? I think it's Bondo 930? Also thanks for the wheelbase dimensons.

OK what's going on with the front fenders and headlight eyebrows? What is that (reddish orange stuff?) Could you give me the 1:1 wheelbase dimension of the model? Thanks in advance, Bill

My new Beetle is now 18 months old. I have had one issue that the dealer fixed. ONE! Driver's side back seat didn't fold down properly. They gave me a loaner car, apologized many, many times, fixed the seat, filled the tank, and washed the car! I bought the diesel with a 6 speed automatic. Prior to this car I owned a new '04 Jetta 5 spd. manual trans. That car was the best car i ever owned. It had 105 K when I traded it for the BUG. In the 8 years I owned it I replaced the tires 3x, the battery once, changed the oil and put fuel in it! THAT WAS IT! I hope the Beetle I bought is as great as that Jetta was. There are a lot of bells and whistles on my Beetle. My old Jetta on a trip down I-95 got 59.75 MPG.....that's not a type-o. My new one gets 40 mpg. New one is automatic with 40 more HP. Makes a difference in fuel mileage. I have only one regret so far, I wish I would have opted for the manual trans. To date that is my only regret.

Who would have thought a '55 Chrysler could look so good! Very nice work! She sits just right.

I wanted a Beetle back in '71. We could not strike a bargain.............I'm glad I waited............this one has HEAT! A very important accessory this winter! I had a '77 VW bus..............WOW!! Talk about one cold ride!

Has anyone built or is in the process of building a Candies and Hughes Barracuda Funny car by Polar Lights? I was wondering what you thought of the model as far as quality? I am thinking of getting one, but would like to hear some opinions. If anyone has any pictures of their builds could you please post them? Thanks in advance, BSB Racing

Beautiful build, clean and simple.

While this isn't a model, it is pretty cool! Some guy put this set up in a pinewood derby car. I'd like to see someone put a set up like this in a model.

We have one Mom and Pop Hobby shop. I go maybe once a month. We also have a Michaels and with their 40% coupons, you can get some good deals. I order on e-bay for some of the more obscure stuff.

I have this exact lathe. (TAIG) It is very good for some things, but a little on the light weight side for some applications. I use it for making 1 gram pinewood derby wheels out of acrylic. It's a great lathe for that sort of thing. I have been a machinist for 46 years and this lathe took some getting used to. I do have issues with the graduations on the in feed dial and there is NO compound on the carriage which is a huge disadvantage.

Hey it's America and we are all entitled to our opinions. I have to agree with " The Old Timers " on this one. If you yank out all the advertising you have about 20 pages of semi decent stuff to read and look at!
