wow that is super! really nice finish too! for your seats since your doors open you might try flowing a wash of "the detailer" in brown on and letting it dry, then wiping most off with a clean moist q-tip. the stuff is water soluable so if it is too much you can just clean it up good with a bit of water on a qtip. -
so, had some time to spend smoothing up the body a bit more, shooting it white primer in prep for the yellow i will hopefully soon be laying down (i love my airbrush!) and polishing the primer to keep things smooth! edit: note that hatch on the front is only taped in there! and i see some irregularity in the rear roof posts i hadnt noticed before. give thanks for macro lenses and knowing how to use them! its getting there though and that nasty seam has been filled and smoothed and i have even attempted to give the edge a fairly sharp look. thanks again for looking! would probably work just as well as "workbench" photos eh!

i would carefully line the trim black using a fine sharpie or a pilot pen. looks great either way!

i dont think its the best i have ever built, or the most complicated or detailed, but i am extremely proud of the job Jairus Watson did on the graphics, all hand painted, at my request. He even dreamed up the other side of the truck which at the time i could not come up with a photo of. this is destined for the reggae archive at my friend roger steffens place, just a matter of me wanted it to leave my immediate area. -

Christian, are all (or most) of the photos you are posting from your collection? not collection of photos of course , collection of kits? or are you finding them on the net and reposting or something? i am floored at the selection you are coming up with and lately particularly those motorcycle kits and that sushi. incredible. count me as one more who thinks this is the most interesting thread in a long time!

"with trackability"...thats your problem right there. without trackability it probably would have been under 10$, in other words, pretty much same as domestic delivery. i just sent two packages to canada for under 5$ each but they were smaller than a kit would be.

how did you slam it...just glue the wheels in there or did you actually lower the suspension realitically? i am wondering because i basically got nowhere attempting to make the suspension low and realistic on the tamiya mx5 i did. yours looks killer.

dude would have had a coronary had he seen that one writeup on the "instant clear" paint or whatever that was (could have actually been in some other mag but they are such stuffed shirts i would doubt it). now the april issue being available in april...you couldnt write that stuff or no one would believe you!

went to a big military swap meet and show today, just browsing around reminiscing about my growing up on Guam and the Phillipines, and this one guy had some auto models and some other goofy stuff: the truck looks pretty kool actually, with fairly nicely detailed motor with modern induction, and the wheels and tires appear to be of possible use. but probably wont be building the truck version anytime soon...possible parts source kit. the 32 is kinda weak aside from the mcdonalds backdrops but i dont even eat at micky d's so i couldnt care less essentially. the car is pretty stodgy with weak detail on the motor and not much to recommend it from what i can see. and its missing the decal sheet even though it was apparently sealed when i got it. but the body itself is really nice looking and the louvered hood and side panels nice as well. i wonder if this is the same basic stuff as the old Monogram "Little Deuce" that was a scaled down version of their 1/8th scale "Big Deuce". the reason i ask is the illustration of the decal sheet shown in the instructions shows the "Little Deuce" logo on it! all in all though, i might pirate the body for some project but the rest is to the spares bin. and then there are these, possibly rare but probably common like dirt in the UK...still for 2$ each i couldnt resist if only for the box art. guy had about 10 total, looked like the complete collection from the illustrations on the side of the box, but i didnt want to spring for them all all this plus a couple of kool hot wheels set me back 15$. the VW Ilitis i saw though...that may end up costing me more.

1/25 Moebius Tim Flock Hudson Hornet
jbwelda replied to MicroNitro's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
just wanted to say i took you guys advice and pre-ordered a tim flock 300. even though this is far from my usual building style, i cant wait to get it. and like someone said in another thread (harry?), this box art really sells the kit all by itself, and to have the quality of the contents back that impression up, well its simply too much to resist. -
that thing is an inspiration, literally, to me. ive saved a search or two on ebay but i am not expecting much , and i am not into spending a big $ amount on kits in most cases, but i am hoping to come across a body shell in an auction of a "lot". yep hope springs eternal! great job ty!

Lindberg 1/8 dragster...... any good ?
jbwelda replied to cobraman's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
in a strange twist of fate, i just bought a parts kit yesterday at a swap meet for $5. unfortunately it is basically just the parts leftover after the owner built a freight train sort of rail but it did have the 12 spoke front wheels and tires, the potvin blower setup, the "slipper" body parts, most of the decals, and the display stantions and some other misc junk. so for $5 i figure it was worth it for the wheels. -

wow well that red and yellow one (not to mention most of the others) seem to contradict what my impression was. some sweet stuff there! -
Revell "Orange Crate" '32 Ford Sedan Hot Rod
jbwelda replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
lanny lanny lanny... nice recovery though, man you are whipping through that thing. maybe now that you know what the challenges are, you should get another and take like a month or something to do it. but it does look pretty respectable as it turned out! edit: ps: >the plastic is real brittle -
Lindberg 1/8 dragster...... any good ?
jbwelda replied to cobraman's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
this topic would be better off in the big boys forum, but from what ive seen that double engine dragster (and its been released as a coupe too or contained a coupe body) is kinda borderline. i do not have it and i have never built it, but i have built one of their T series and found it was just a little funny or something. sat up too high, parts looked kind of out of scale to each other, some aspects i just cant put my finger on. a good step below the monogram "big" series, especially in just looking right. on the other hand there were (and in the case of the dragster you are asking about) some really nice things about it: i always way preferred the slicks in lindberg big kits over the monogram ones. and the 12 spoke front wheels in the dragster are pretty kool. other parts look ok and some just look kinda dumb. of course this all just means it takes a bit more ambition to really make it look good and i do recall seeing an excellent build up at the NNL one or more years, with some parts swapping between it and the big drag especially. for me it comes down to money, its (the dragster you are talking about i mean) on my short list to buy when i see it for like 50$ or so, but that day has not arrived yet. plus i am approaching out of space conditions not that that ever stops me. -
good luck, this should be interesting. nice start so far, and it will look amazing when done especially using all the aftermarket stuff you bought

a quick update to this one because i have been making some progress despite distractions... got the frame just about ready, the motor is built and wired though not in the photos, the tank has been clearanced around the frame and misc fitting and fiddling. its too bad about the rear tire, i would like to see it about an eighth inch (3 scale inches) wider but i realize back then that wasnt the norm. this is a pretty fun but challenging build. the resin work is pretty impeccible, especially all the molded detail, but it requires some cleanup of delicate parts. but i bet the original AMT was pretty fiddly too. for some reason i am having a hard time holding onto the resin parts, they are very slippery smooth even after soaking in westleys. not complaining, just something i havent noticed before. i am going to shoot the tank, fenders, and side covers testors plum crazy over a silver undercoat and mask off the center of the fenders and tank and shoot the plum crazy over that. should look good if i pull it off. most of the front of the bike will be covered by the fairing, which i will attempt next. i would like to hold it together with magnets so it can be removed but i am always much better at dreaming that sort of thing than doing it. heres some mockup shots, progress has been made past this point by now: i am going to make some dunstall mufflers from paintbrush ferrels, and upsweep the exhaust right aft of the motor side cases, probably angle them outboard a few degrees too: finally here is a shot of the rear fender with the custom taillight molded in. i like it better than the stock light and license plate combo piece: thanks again for looking!
