This is gonna be AWESOME!
jbwelda replied to Custom Hearse's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
you know, i heard that revell was gonna release all the motorcycle parts packs, and since their market research told them they wouldn't sell, they are going to GIVE THEM AWAY! -

is it April 1 in your time zone? -
wow that is one sweet candy red caddy there! i love those eyelids over the headlamps and just all the detail on the front grille. i had no idea this was a separate car or anything because i was never that attracted to the cadillacs, but that one there is a real jewel. edit to ask: those are one piece alloy wheels on it? my friend rick estrin had some factory alloys on his 55 or 56 eldorado.

More tire parts paks?
jbwelda replied to johnbuzzed's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
re: weak pre-orders on motorcycle parts packs: do you guys believe all the marketing spin you read? because i find it very hard, very hard indeed to believe they had few preorders of the motorcycles and at the same time (well, different company) they put out dreck like that Gremlin junk and tom daniels cartoons and whatever else we are "graced" with. what i think is the engine parts packs didnt sell so they sunk the whole project. i am on a whole other page with those polyglas tires but then again i think disco era american cars they would be most appropriate on should never have been made in the 1:1 and certainly not commemorated in model kits. as far as i am concerned those hunks of junk should be relegated to the wreckers hook and rust in peace in some land fill. -
george, i believe the reversed wheel in question is an orphan that can be seen in this photo: you will notice in the photo that there are a row of various wheels, chrome reversed with baby moon, 2 style of mags. you will also notice that there are chrome reversed with baby moon wheels in various other places on the sprue. but if you notice about half way down on the left side of the sprue, under what appears to be a chrome oil pan, there is a lone chrome reversed without hubcap wheel. that is the one being discussed. i think i agree with the above that it was for display on an extended rear shelf.

More tire parts paks?
jbwelda replied to johnbuzzed's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
yeah brett you are right in that sense absolutely, they basically manufacture a big tub of tires and then have plenty of leftovers, its genius to say hey lets sell these tires separately! i just hope they branch out a bit more and maybe spend some money on the series other than for packaging...and offer something either not available elsewhere or out of production for a long time now or with period correct parts tooled and included. in fact those classic cars whose tools are supposedly no longer with us? how about maybe some of the crucial parts ARE still with us and make a conversion kit to make the 32 vicky edsel nose version with an existing vicky kit? i am sure there are some good examples of "update" kits that could be offered as parts packs. and revell: bring back the motorcycles. especially the hardley worthitson, man you will sell a million. remember who told you so! but i do recall how evidently revell bean counters or someone decided they could never sell them (parts packs) so they discontinued them and when they did take a chance (engine parts packs) they basically did a belly flop in the marketplace. so maybe they do have a reason for not indulging fools like me. but i still fall back on: put some imagination into it and it will sell... -
scale models of scale models
jbwelda replied to knarf's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
yeah those cars are meant to go on trophies from AMT kits i believe. really kool. ive seen one of the pickup trucks, 34 ford i believe, with a chopped top and a chrome flame job. i collect them anytime i see any, usually in "junk" spare parts boxes brought to club meetings for everyone to comb through. -

More tire parts paks?
jbwelda replied to johnbuzzed's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
i hope they branch out into more than just tires...like a buick nailhead motor with speed equipment. personally i think they are sinking their own ship just offering tires (particularly ones i have no interest in...disco polyglas anyone?) -
Issue #175 came yesterday..
jbwelda replied to Rob Hall's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
got my copy today, undamaged, and was surprised how few west coast events were covered! specifically no coverage of NNL West 12 or 13 (kinda soon for the just passed NNL West 2013 and i think the photographers camera broke for the NNL 2012 coverage, thats what i heard anyhow). i am impressed by the midwest and east coast builds and contests, seems to me thats where my "wow" favorites often come from. -
Round 2 Purchases Lindberg/Hawk
jbwelda replied to Art Anderson's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I will tell you, for me anyway, this thread has reminded me of how little, how precious little, either lindberg or especially hawk ever brought to the car modelling table. those stupid "T" kits are a joke and have basically nothing in them of value, way oversimplified, and it seems the same to me for most of lindbergs junk, errr...stuff. there may be some jewels here and there but by and large those two companies and their products could fall off the end of the earth and i doubt i or much of anyone else without a vested interest would give a darn. round 2 should be investing in new tools of contemporary classics, not dredging up this dreck. -
Model Prices Swap Meet VS Ebay?
jbwelda replied to DailyGrindCustoms's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
it has gotten to the point at the NNL West anyway where the kits at vendors stalls that i want are the same kits that i have wanted from them for multiple years and the reason they still are carrying around the kit and i am not building it is they want 5X what any idiot would expect to pay on ebay. the bargains are few and far between at swap meets and mostly involve non-selling current releases someone has scored for cheap and is turning over. -
New Retro E-Type Jaguar design.

i revised my post above after i actually read the original link. aftermarket trash is what i now think. expensive aftermarket trash. -
New Retro E-Type Jaguar design.
jbwelda replied to Custom Hearse's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
edit: never mind, i actually looked at the original postings link and see this is an aftermarket thing costing upwards of half million, so never mind... -
seems to me i have seen a 1/24 914/6 resin body somewhere... nice project, this should be fun. i would like to put a quad cam in one myself, or a twin turbo rotary.

Watching the paint dry. Rat Roaster (It's dry! Well sort of.) 3/20/13
jbwelda replied to rmvw guy's topic in WIP: Model Cars
wow this is great to see, i like the way the front fenders sit and your paint does look good though man you do need a dehydrator back there in indiana i bet! i remember living in Illinois and it was humid all the time. and i always get stung by some last moment goof up like the superglue on the paint from some small piece. personally for things like license plates i have taken to not using glue at all but just a tiny spot of blue-tac putty stuff. works great, avoids super glue or any permanent glue and its marks and is removable if i want to change it later. kool build, and nice photos too. -
that was the promise of these cars that was never fulfilled. i remember reading about the imminent release of this car in road and track and how in later incarnations it was scheduled to get a V8 but that never happened. actually i am surprised to hear they came with a V6, somehow i thought they were all 4 cyls...shows how i lost interest as the reality unfolded after the great buildup in R&T.

just came upon this today, wow just freakin wow. too kool and perfect for the girls! chick magnet!

Round 2 Purchases Lindberg/Hawk
jbwelda replied to Art Anderson's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
i guess the lindberg part is good news but a big ho hum for the Hawk stuff...i dont recall them ever putting anything out of any true merit, basically cheap toys. -
yeah thats a great idea using that slant six! there is a conversation right now in the kit reviews about the S6, they should see this!
