Guess what it is.

Whoa, and I thought individual tank tread assembly was a chore! Good luck with your wire wheels. -

Great work so far. Just to let you know, the Miss America P-51D "as raced" had another seat and no radio equipment in the rear of the cockpit. -
Prime it with some gas, it looks like it would start. Outstanding detail work.

My Lord, that carb is incredible!

Great work on a weird kit. I have a near finished one on my "shelf of doom".
-
Well, this one had been on my shelf of doom for many years. My 48-year-old son who builds tanks had air brush painted all the parts, I just needed to put it together. Pulled it down and started it again. Did okay until I got to the tracks. Each side had 77 individual 2 piece tracks. Man, what a chore, they fought me for hours. I liked the fact that the kit had the parts for both the M50 Super Sherman turret and the M51 Isherman turret that would fit on the kit supplied hull. Comments welcomed.

What did you see on the road today?

I had a 1971 Charger (that's what fooled me) but never seen a 1971 Coronet wagon before. -

Charger Station Wagon? Never seen one like this. Charger style front end on a Dodge station wagon body. Like the hood and wheels. -

Well, here's another one that has been on my "Shelf of Doom" for many years. Had done the wheels, tires, engine, chassis and interior but never got around to masking and painting the body. Finally got it painted and started the decals. Was concerned with them as they were probably over 40 years old. Tested the front bumper gold stripe and sure enough it shattered. So, I sprayed the rest of the sheet with clear gloss lacquer and the rest went on fine. Paint is Testors rattlecan Italian Red lacquer, decals by Ace. Glad to have it done. Comments welcome.

Been waiting to build one for many years. Had all the changes planned and parts ready in advance. Thank you, Sir.

Grumpy's Toy XI '74 Vega Pro Stock rescue

Het guys, thanks for your comments. -
Well, here's another one that had been on my "shelf of doom" for many years. Started with an MPC '75 Monza annual kit. Tubbed the chassis and interior, took a BBC from the parts box, added twin Holleys and high-rise manifold, added a Lenco trans. Headers from the parts box. Scratch built the interior and Lenco shifter. Wheels and tires from the parts box. Scratch built the engine sheet metal. Scratch built hood scoop. Then, lost interest and back on the shelf. Pulled it down again, painted the stripes and started to apply the decals. Had a problem with the Slixx decals, contacted Becky at Slixx and she sent me a new set. They worked fine. Paint is Testors rattlecan red lacquer over classic white. Future acrylic over the decals and then a coat of clear gloss lacquer. Comments welcome.

Whoa time warp 1970s.

When I paid $9.49 this week for that same 3 oz. can of spray paint, I told the cashier at Hobby Town that I remember paying $.69 for them! -
I stand corrected. Have an original kit too, and I did not look at the box. Actually, the box calls it a Chevrolet experimental car, and it's powered by a Corvair engine.
-
The body is the reworked AMT Astro 1 Chevrolet experimental cat. The line is where the Astro 1 body was hinged to lift open.
-
Outstanding builds. On my similar Grumpy's Toys project. Am waiting to decal his '76 Monza and just finished his '74 Vega.

Got this on pre order from Auto World. Been wanting to build one for years but not willing to pay Ebay vintage prices. Was originally released in 1969 and now it's available again. Made some changes to the kit. Added a dash panel, narrowed the rear body some so the slicks would fit, lowered the rear wing and put it on a single post, and lowered the roll bar brace rails. Used the white plastic tires (thought they looked the '60's better) and had to narrow the front mag hubs to fit inside the fender wells. Also raised the header pipes above the lower frame rail instead of below it. Finally, I sanded down the rear fender flares. Paint is Testors Nassau Blue rattlecan lacquer, with a coat of clear gloss and a coat of Future. Was one of my Holy Grail kits, now it's in the display case. Comments welcome.

You should have been around in the early '60s. My allowance then was $.50 a week. Pic of my Dodge Hemi Charger from 1965 in my stash. MSRP was $1.50. -

Had a problem with a set if Slixx decals. The decals were shattering when I tried to remove them after soaking in warm water. Notified Becky at Slixx. She agreed they had a problem with the red decals in that run. Said she would send a new replacement set out to me today. In today's business world where customer service is dying, it is refreshing to see that there are still some who take care of their customers. Thank you, Becky and Slixx decals. I highly recommend their products and their service. MM
