  1. I rattle can sprayed some enamel orange paint on a body yesterday (about 3 coats). Today I noticed that one side needed another coat and sprayed another coat of the same paint on the side. Just checked it and it crazed What would make the same paint craze applying another coat ?
  2. Can't forget that. I have a T shirt I bought at Hot August Nights in Reno in 1998 (year of the riots) with that on it and Ed signed it for me.
  3. The three in the picture was using aluminium tubing gently tapped down until I achieved a desired shape. Went thru 3 different sizes of tube until I achieved the desired size and shape. Top two I used smaller tubing for the end pipes and filled them with a super glue baby powder mix and filed/sanded to get a flat end. These did not have the ribbed end I wanted so on the bottom one I used pieces of an old credit card. The only styrene I had was .040" thick. I think if I can get something about .020" it should look better.
  4. The mufflers are the parts I am most trying to duplicate. I have had some success with making glass packs but the factory mufflers have been a bit more challenging. As for pipes I have used aluminum tubing some I like the look of the end of the tail pipe being open and more realistic. I have considered solder but have not tried it yet. Evergreen rod has also been considered. I like the idea of Plaststruct tubing with brass rod inside Do heat it some or bend it cold ?
  5. May but most likely not. I was only 6 at the time.
  6. I can remember my Dad having these on the lower front fender of his Plymouth around 1956
  7. Received and Returned Thank You Jon
  8. Indeed The Flying Eyeball is as iconic to Hot Rodding as the "8 Ball Girl"
  9. That happened to me, I just let it site under a light and it and it cleared up.
  10. I have a few 64 Mopars that need some exhaust systems made up. I have been trying to make some mufflers up from aluminum tubing and have had fair success at best. My next thought that maybe I could duplicate the muffler set from the Revell 68 Charger. If I can duplicate it from the front to the back of the mufflers I can make it work on most my current builds. My question is what would would be the best way to make molds of the front pipes to the back of the mufflers resin casting ? Keep in mind I have never tried any resin casting.

  13. Walmart carries a few but they are online only since they stopped having them in the store. Other than that just doing every day shopping I don't think you would run across one I also have a Testers Hot Metal Model T kit with the pre-painted body that I have been considering for him.

  17. I have not worked with resin cast parts much but have a coil I purchased and the paint turned out funky. I did my usual soak in brake fluid routine. It wasn't in very long but when I removed it it didn't look much like a coil anymore. Is there something that will remove the paint without deteriorating the part ?
  18. On my recent visit to the Goodwill As-is store I picked up a complete (all but instructions), un-built Monogram 1/32 Snap Tite Chevy Bison Semi Truck kit and a complete AMT 88 Daytona kit for $1.67 a lb. I have a grandson that is 12 and has a type of the autism syndrome. He has a very short attention span and spends most of his time with his electronic toys. He has shown a interest with building a model with me. We tried doing a Aluma Coupe but with only being at my place occasionally and the kits poor parts fit it didn't really get finished. Since he likes big trucks would the Bison kit be a good kit for him and I to build ? Are there any other kits that are suitable for a challenged kid to build ?
  19. He seems to be known for his striping and art skills but I don't recall him being connected to any particular car build. I would think only connection would be in his art work.
  20. If I am going to be handling chrome parts a lot when mocking up a build I will coat it in Future to prevent the chrome fro rubbing off. Never has it dulled it.
  21. Crazy about a Mercury, (1950) Would go with the Woody
  22. Most of the time Beauty is in the eye of the Beer Holder
  23. All depends if you are a "builder" or a "collector". Ran across a fellow on a model trader facebook page. He had a tassel of models to sell. Most were ships and plane but there was a Jo-Han Roadrunner in the pile. I inquired it's condition and price shipped to me. He came back with complete and sealed ,$300 shipped. I gave it a quick "pass" as I am a builder, Maybe it would be worth it to me if I was a collector and desperately needed that for my collection
