  1. I like them too! Funny, but the first time that saw them on the menu, she turned her nose up at them. I usually will opt for a mushroom & swiss or a bacon cheeseburger. Steve
  2. I don't plan that far ahead. We have a general agreement in my house that the wife does simple meals during the week like the items that you mentioned. Friday night is usually simple take out like pizza & burgers. Saturday night is "date night" when we go out for dinner, & then it's usually my kitchen for Sunday night dinner. I like to do something fancier on those nights on occasion, but with there being only the 2 of us at home now, many times it winds up being something fairly simple on that night as well. Last Sunday it was a big plate of beef & bean nachos. Steve
  3. Not sure about the peanut butter hot dogs, but everything else sounds great, especially the Cordon Bleu & the linguine! I won't dis your hot dog idea too much without trying it though. One of my wife's favorite things is a big juicy burger with peanut butter & bacon. Steve
  4. Ah, but that's the trade off! If you do the cooking, she does the dishes!! Works for me most of the time. Steve
  5. Got ya Ron. I was joking too. Steve
  6. I was very fortunate in my partner selection & my wonderful wife has equipped me with several exceptionally nice Wusthof knives over the years. Steve
  7. What, no photos? That sounds delicious! Steve
  8. Good luck Cale! I can't say that I know how a drivers test is conducted in BC, but mine, nearly 40 years ago in Minnesota, wasn't too bad. As long as you don't make any major mistakes, you should do fine. If I recall correctly, the most difficult part of the test when I took it was parallel parking! Just relax & remember that it's not the end of the world if you don't make it. You can always retake the test. I am confident that you will do just fine! Steve
  9. I agree Bill. Tonight it was homemade shrimp scampi along with steamed green beans with mushrooms, balsamic vinegar & shaved Parmesan. Last night was boneless chicken wings and onion rings at Buffalo Wildwings. Friday night it was a Dairy Queen bacon cheese burger & fries. I enjoyed them all immensely! Steve
  10. In light of a few cooking posts on another thread, a couple of us thought that this might be fun. My thought is, let's keep it simple with as few rules as possible. Basically, anything food related, whether it's what you had for dinner, breakfast, lunch or even a snack. It can be something you made yourself, or even something you ordered in a restaurant. But let's try to keep it interesting! Please try to refrain from posting photos of your Domino's pizza or your McDonald's quarter pounder with cheese. I'll start this party with what I made for the wife & I tonight. Nothing horribly complicated. Some shrimp scampi with a ton of garlic & a little white wine served over Jasmin rice with a side of steamed balsamic green beans & mushrooms with shaved Parmesan. Along with an all time favorite of ours of good artisan bread with olive oil, balsamic vinegar and shredded Parmagiano Reggiano. Steve
  11. Well, that's where I have to disagree with you. Of all of the fast food Mexican places out there, I like Taco Bell the least. I don't think I've been through the doors of a Taco Bell in more than 25 years! My brother used to lovingly refer to them as "Taco Hell". We all have our own tastes, but if I'm in the mood for a Mexican "gut bomb" I would much rather swing by a Taco John's. Steve
  12. I agree! I was planning on starting a "What did you have for dinner" thread later on tonight after I finished cooking tonight's meal! I think it will probably not get a lot of traffic, but it might be fun! Steve
  13. Here are a couple of fancy looking, but extremely easy dishes that we served at various get togethers, Individual cheese boards. The easiest "Lemon Curd Cake" that you will ever make! Steve
  14. All looks good! Here are a couple of very simple recent meals at our house. Spaghetti Carbonara. Greek Shrimp. Steve
  15. Everybody is starting to post photos of their "nerdiness", so, why not! New Orleans BBQ Shrimp. Steve
  16. But it wasn't. I had to shorten the front "pan" on the chassis & move the entire chassis forward to get the front wheels centered in the openings & the rear wheel tubs situated correctly in the body. Likewise, I had to shorten the rear leaf springs by about a quarter of an inch to get the rear wheels moved up & centered in the rear wheel openings. I haven't checked yet, but I'm confident that the unmodified Lindberg '64 Belvedere chassis should fit perfectly under the Johan '64 Fury & '63 & '64 Polara bodies. The Johan '63 Plymouth wheel base is the only one that's shorter. Steve
  17. Anybody have any experience with it? How well does it work & does it yellow over time like other enamel clear coats can? What kind of cure times are we talking about? How well does it shine? I've been thinking about giving it a try but I'm a little leery about using it without some information on it first. Steve
  18. I agree about the Johan chassis. Unfortunately, there are not a lot of options with a lot of the large cars like the 300s. Luckily, we have the modern '64 Mopar kits to rob parts from for the Furys & Polaras. I was just weighing the pros & cons of shelling out $25.00-$30.00 on an AMT Lawman '64 Plymouth kit, but I've come to the conclusion that it would not be a bad investment for me. I can use a large number of parts from that kit for upcoming Johan '63 Dodge & '64 Dodge & Plymouth builds. As a matter of fact, I could use several donor kits! Something tells me that I'm going to have a lot of '64 Plymouth bodies & interior parts to use as trade fodder! Steve
  19. I think I've about got the engine bay mods under control. Added a new top for the radiator brace, a panel for the hood latch and a few bolt heads here and there. Still need to remove one door handle and do a little more finish sanding on the body & I believe that I will be ready to start shooting some primer. Steve
  20. This is probably my favorite in my collection so far. Not necessarily because I think the paint is perfect, but more because I like the overall combo. Steve
  21. Good luck. I'm not the type of guy that pays as much attention to these types of details as others do, but I don't remember the last new kit that came out without complaints. Personally, I think they're all wonderful! I'm just glad to have them. Steve
  22. Uh-huh. Should have asked her how insomniatic she is over her shoes, jewelry & make up. Bet she doesn't lose a lot of sleep over her useless possessions. Steve
  23. I'm with you Lee. My mother was a fantastic cook & I picked up most of what I know about cooking from her & have enjoyed it for years! Although she was mainly a "home cooking" "comfort food" type of cook, everything that I learned from her is applicable to much fancier food than she ever attempted. I do occasionally pick up recipes from television or the internet, but I rarely follow them to the T. I like to massage them & make them my own. But I have picked up some amazing recipes from the internet over the years that I could never improve upon. A few that come to mind are the best Mongolian Beef that I've ever had, a crazy good "New Orleans Barbecued Shrimp" recipe, and "The Worlds Best Tomato Sauce" that requires slow roasting the ingredients in the oven at a very low temperature for hours. Time consuming, but fantastic!! Steve
  24. The only thing that I have built that you might call a "movie car" was an "interpretation" of the '61 Ford Starliner in the movie Hollywood Knights. I took a few liberties with it, but a lot of it was up for interpretation anyway as it made a very limited appearance in the movie. Steve
