  1. My end of a very good trade with Al, (thatz4u) arrived today. It has always been a real treat trading with him. Thank you Al!! Steve
  2. Yeah, that one bothers me a little too. And it's not difficult to do. Steve
  3. Nice! I like the color especially! Steve
  4. I guess you could call Phoebe Cates my "teenage crush". More recently would be Sandra Bullock. Steve
  5. I don't know what she even looks like today, but Phoebe Cates used to keep me awake at night when I was a young pup! Can anyone who was a teenager back then ever forget her in "Fast Times at Ridgemont High"? "High Brad. You know how cute I always thought you were". Cue the Cars music!! Steve
  6. That's my strategy........or excuse, for having a mess. "Out of sight, out of mind" translates into nothing getting done in my case. If a particular build keeps grabbing my attention from across the room, I'm much more likely to get something done on it. If I put it back into the box & on the shelf, I have a tendency to forget that it even exists! As I sit here at the computer, I can glance to my right just a few feet away, and what do I see? A '65 Fury, '56 Ford, '64 Dodge, '60 Imperial, '63 Dodge, '60 Continental, '60 Chevy, '56 resin Cadillac & a couple other ones that I'm not exactly sure why they're there! This does not even include the '63 Plymouth that I'm currently working on. All of these are sitting on a table in my family room, all reminding me that they are waiting for me to resume work. I figure that if it doesn't bother me, & it doesn't bother anyone else, who cares if things are messy. My hobby room is fairly well "straightened up", but my work area is a total disaster. But, I know where everything that I need is. It's all within arms length, even if it is buried under 4 other things! Steve
  7. Aaahh! Cleaning is overrated! The way I see it, you can either be a good model builder, or a good cleaning lady! You have to pick one! Steve
  8. Absolutely Lee! If we can tolerate "YooHoos" & "Funny Bones", we can take anything! By the way, never heard of a Funny Bone! It might be kind of fun to post some strange regional stuff on this thread occasionally. Knock yourselves out guys! Steve
  9. Tonight was another "Home Chef" meal. "Prosciutto, Pasta Primavera". These meals are very good! I recommend them to anyone. Steve
  10. Give me more anchovies!!! I love 'em! I'll make a 10 inch pizza at home and put a whole can of anchovies on it! My pantry always contains at least one can of anchovies. Usually for making homemade Caesar salad dressing or Puttanesca sauce. Steve
  11. It don't get any better than this! Happy Fathers Day to me!! Steve
  12. The Testor's Dark Cherry looks spot on to me. Steve
  13. The wife picked up some big T-bone steaks & some lobster tails for Father's Day. So tonight it will be "surf & turf"! Steve
  14. Looks pretty good to me so far. Have you figured out a plan for those parking lights? I had an idea. Find some 3 bar wheel spinners, snip off the points and glue a '58 Chevy backup light to the face. This is, of course, to make your subject to make a mold for casting. Something to experiment with anyway. Steve
  15. I think that we can all be relatively confident that there will be no takers on this guys kit. Steve
  16. I don't disagree at all that this type of design is "entirely original", and if you're desire is something that is not supposed to represent anything "historical" at all, than this is what you would want. My only intention was to reinforce Davids view that "he takes the unique character of a classic vehicle and smooths it all away" which I believe this example absolutely does. The only visible '34 Ford "influence" that this car exhibits at all is the basic shape of the grille. Remove that, and the influence could be absolutely anything from the 1930s. There's nothing wrong with this design if that's what you like, but I agree with David that some of his creations go too far for my taste. This could just as easily be a mildly customized Plymouth Prowler & nobody would ever know the difference. I'll admit that I'm not much of a fan of custom vehicles, like that's a surprise, but I do appreciate one that keeps the basic flavor of the vehicle that it is portraying. I have nothing against Foose, I just don't have a lot of appreciation for what he creates. And by the way, the color absolutely kills it for me. Please, somebody tell me that the era of this neon green is about over! It could not end too soon!!! Steve
  17. I think that this is a perfect example of what David G. is saying. Exactly what about this car, other than the back slanted grille, would give any indication whatsoever that it is "supposed" to be a '34 Ford? The '34 "Ford-ness" has been completely obliterated. In my opinion, it looks like another kit car. Steve
  18. Like there's a shortage of '56 Ford truck kits! Personally, I wouldn't give you $10.00 for this kit even it was the last one in existence. I don't think that some of these guys understand the definition of a rare kit, & anybody that would pay this guy more than about $25.00 for this kit is a bigger fool than he is! Steve
  19. That could very well be the secret to their success. I'm sure that we could all agree that if 2 people have the same views about money matters, it would be less likely that there would be friction between them on that subject. Steve
  20. I know exactly what you are talking about Bill. As a matter of fact, my wife's sister & her husband have exactly that sort of relationship! Of course, she would never admit it, but it's quite obvious to anyone who would observe them & be honest about their assessment. Needless to say, their marriage is currently on the skids. When I look at my wife's and my relationship, although our personalities are in many ways complete opposites, we have both grown to realize over these many years that neither one of us are going to change & we have learned to accept each other fully. Maybe it has just become laziness as we grow older, but I can not imagine a more wonderful & peaceful life than we currently have. I can go to bed every night & wake up every morning feeling completely confident that we will be there for each other until the day that I die. To me there is no more peaceful feeling than that. No matter what the future will hold for us, life is good! Ok, now that the slobbering love story is over with, we may return to our regularly scheduled program! Steve
  21. Mine is the same dynamic for the most part. We have never really had any issues with each others purchases, but we respect each other enough to discuss anything that could be classified as being in the "expensive" category. Certainly a car would be in that category! There's nothing wrong with using that sort of arrangement if it works for you Bill, but speaking from a personal observation of a couple that we considered very good friends of ours who used that arrangement, I remember that it created much more contention in their relationship than we ever had in ours. Every couple & every circumstance is different, but I consider my wife & my relationship to be one of the best of anybody that I know. 31 years and hardly ever a cross word between us & still as happy as the day that we met. We do each have our own small "stashes" that we will utilize for our modest wants, but in general we share absolutely everything no matter how large or small. "For richer or for poorer, in sickness & in health". Steve
  22. I'm not really all that fond of Rivieras, but you knocked this one out of the park! Very nice work! Steve
  23. Exactly. If the build is just an overall mess, I won't comment at all. Generally, I will point out obvious flaws on an otherwise nice build that as a rule, the OP may already know, but on occasion just might have missed or did not know what to look for. Usually simple items that can be easily addressed on the next build or possibly even fixed on the current one. I find these types of comments & suggestions very valuable. But I suppose there are individuals who might consider them an attack. So as you stated James, I am usually quite careful of the statements that I make. Borderline PC I guess you could say. My intention is never to offend, but to help if possible. Steve
