  1. The glass is either half full or half empty. Any attempt to bring new faces to this hobby should be looked upon as a good thing, however there will always be some that find fault with that. I am just as excited to see Revell's effort to attract new modelers as I am about Meng's upcoming F-350 kit!
  2. I would rather a model company release the information at a model contest/show & the internet than at a toy or hobby show. Back in the day when many retailers carried models and it was important for the companies to show their wares to the buyers of these retailers, I am sure they could justify the cost. Today, spend the money on other areas of advertising or promotion, I am sure they will get a better bang for their buck!
  3. Thanks Casey, I thought I had seen a post from the owner.
  4. I saw in another topic a reference to Kustom Resin and was wondering if anyone has had any experiences to relate? I noticed they are in Nashville and that has me wondering if it is the old AF/X Resin? www.kustomresin.com Thanks!
  5. It happens to all of us. With the winter most of us have had across the country, one would think we all got tons built being stuck inside!
  6. One can use the weekly coupons for Michaels or Hobby Lobby to save some money. Check out Plastic-Models.com as they always have specials/discounts like free shipping or money off your order. I am sure there are others that have similar deals.
  7. Considering the windows are pretty simple to create, what if someone were to offer a template for a window van? One could trace an outline and then using some basic tools cut out the windows, no?
  8. Price is a secondary consideration for me in the case of this model, I have waited for a decent late model truck too long to let a price of $40, 50 or 60 scare me off. I won't be buying a case of them but at least 2 or 3.
  9. Not aware of any resin cast kits, there might be some parts (grilles & bumpers) out there in resin to convert the AMT pickup to a '69. Hopefully the upcoming Ford Pickup kits (67-72 model years) will be successful and spur someone to tool up a new version of these classic Chevy trucks.
  10. Looks like a nice kit Casey!
  11. In the last hour here in South Charlotte, we have gone from snow to sleet back to snow. Haven't seen a car come down our hill in at least 30 minutes so I am guessing that most people stayed home. The thing about sick days and snow days when you work from home is that it is really hard to not at least check in or do some work. Our home office is in Seattle and a bunch of people got the day after the Superbowl off because management knew they would be calling in if the Seahawks won so they went ahead and scaled back operations that day. I figure I will take my "sick days" when the weather is a bit nicer and I can be spray painting some bodies or walking around a car show!
  12. Pretty scary www.wbko.com/.../BREAKING-Floor-Collapse-at-National-Corv...‎
  13. I really like that one, very clean and of course excellent details! Keep em coming!
  14. Here in Charlotte they are advising people to wait before heading out on the road tomorrow to see what the weather brings. School is closed for Wednesday and probably will be on Thursday too. I am a field sales rep and as such, my office is based out of my house. I was talking with my boss today and asked if I could have tomorrow off due to the weather and he laughed and reminded me of some overdue reports and projects that I needed to attend to!
  15. But Rob, given the popularity of the Fox body Mustang, just adding some drag parts gets them more sales than if they left it as is. Whether they fix the body or not, there is a pool of buyers out there who will buy this kit by virtue of not having to search for the extra parts this kit will have. Who knows, maybe Revell will surprise us with a fixed body, afterall they did fix the screwed up gas tank on the Nova kit!
  16. I'm sorry, what I meant to say is that it could be a great addition to your line. I do recall you stating that you only create originals and are not a caster of kit parts, and a fine one at that !
  17. Those would be great to have in resin, maybe Chief Joseph could help us out???????
  18. Great idea Chuck, maybe someone can offer decals/photo etch to do just that!
  19. Nick, most winters (this is my ninth here) we see maybe 2-3 inches total. 2 weeks ago when Atlanta had their "snowmegeddon", we had about an inch where I live (far south edge of Charlotte) and most of it melted in the sun by mid-day. The problem came when the temp dropped that night to near single digits and any wet spots turned to ice. Our biggest fear here is ice. They simply do not have the equipment to deal with it so when it snows or rains this time of year, they hit the roads and try to spread salt or salt brine to combat the ice. Unlike the Midwest, treating the side roads and subdivisions just doesn't happen here! When we had the bad weather two weeks ago the engine from the closest fire station slid through an intersection and into a wooden fence because the road hadn't been treated! I have no doubt that the fire department told the street department and that road will be treated this time around! I gave away or sold most of my winter gear when I packed up in 2005 and moved South, although I still have some winter boots and a snow shovel! I enjoy watching the locals trying to drive in this as they have no understanding of how to. Add in the idiots with 4wd and it can make for some real fun!
  20. This has been one of the craziest winters I have seen, and that includes living in northern Illinois for 41 years! Here in Charlotte the weather roller coaster continues as we had temps near 60 over the weekend and now they are calling for 4-8 inches of snow and up to an inch of ice over the next 3 days. The schools are closing two hours early today to get students home before the weather sets in later and most likely they will be closed tomorrow and Thursday. The news stations are all over this storm, reporting on how the stores have been cleared out of bread, milk, fruit and veggies, the DOT has all 35 snow plows ready (yes, a city the size of Charlotte has 35 snow plows!) and what hardware stores have salt and shovels! The good news is that this weekend we should be in the 50s so any snow or ice will be shortlived, unlike my family and friends back in Chicago who have feet of snow and sub-freezing temps to contend with for awhile!
  21. He doesn't mince words on the subject but does admit that she is good for publicity for the sport. I find it funny how Tony Stewart has no problem having her on his team (because she came with sponsorship no doubt) despite a lack of competitiveness while he was upset his partner added Kurt Busch who demonstrated last year that he could drive a race car and contend for wins more often than Danica.
  22. Thanks Casey. With the upcoming reissue, some 8 lug wheels from Danny at Scenes Unlimited, a camper top from one of the old versions of the 70's Ford pickups, a resin grille from a '74 and a little bit of weathering that would be easy to replicate.
  23. Nice crew cab conversion! Very clean and simple, I like it.
  24. It's not the amount of snow that had things mixed up in Atlanta, it was the thousands of motorists and vehicles that converged on the roadways at the same time. The plow trucks didn't get the roads treated and ready for the traffic and the politicians wanted to blame the weatherman for not telling them!
