  1. As always Dave, great details and clean building! You have a knack for making these look easy. Thanks for sharing.
  2. someone is working on a Cummins resin engine but to date there is not a Powerstroke diesel engine of any kind available in resin or kit form.
  3. I would have to say that Mobieus has another couple of winners on their hands here with these kits- I know I am in for at least 4 of each! Is it September yet?
  4. Steve, Understand the frustration but keep in mind that even with a patent on a product, someone could change your design ever so slightly and get away with it. My wife and I developed a couple of consumer household items and spent some $$$ on getting patents only to be told later that our protection was limited if someone wanted to imitate our product. For what it is worth, consider it flattery that someone copied your hard work. Doesn't make it easier to accept, but you have made us aware that there are poor copies out there and we shouldn't confuse them with yours.
  5. Don Mills Models, based in Mass, has the correct scale diamond plate for 1/25. I have found it at swap meets and also through The Model Empire in Milwaukee, WI. The Plastruct 1/25 scale is not as accurate as Don Mills sheets.
  6. interesting topic as recently someone posted asking if anyone has produced resin copies of the wheels in the newly released Rat Roaster kit! I have yet to resin cast items but if/when I do, i plan on doing so only for myself as I have no interest in starting up a company or being responsible for making parts for others. I wanted several extra snow plows that came in the Revell GMC kit and found it cheaper to buy the kits than to try and re-create them in resin. I will sell off the truck kits (minus the plows) and I will not have to worry about any "infringement". Ironically, the snow plow represented in that kit appears to be a Western brand but no where do I see Revell mentioning "that", nor did MPC mention years ago that the plow in their Jeep kits was a Meyers brand, but yet if you knew the design and colors those plows used, it was easy to figure out.
  7. Thanks Dave, getting ready for some room on the bench for these babies! Sure hope someone is willing to make 4wd conversions for these kits as I have many ideas for 2wd & 4wd versions.
  8. True words there Jeff, but frustrating nonetheless when a poorly copied part is competing with your higher quality part and as a whole, modelers are a cheap bunch! To Steve's original post, once you let that master out of your control, what happens to it is not up to you or the resin caster you sent it to, as you have found out.
  9. If you are looking for some current or new releases, check out Tower Hobbies (Plastic-Models.com) as they have a free shipping promotion going on right now. I like to find stuff locally and try to support my LHS whenever I can, but realistically there are things I have to order online due to a lack of selection. I have yet to use eBay, although I visit there all the time to get an idea of what kits are going for and what is out there.
  10. Brock, A lot of good suggestions of where to find kits and the bargains that can be found, if you just look around! Also stop by antique or estate sales type shops, they sometimes get a household of goods and could have models in them. Some folks also visit the thrift stores (Goodwill, Salvation Army, etc.) as they occasionally have kits. From time to time places like Ollie's Discount Outlet or Big Lots will have models too, so keep an eye out. As was mentioned about model shows/swap meets, walk around and check out what the vendors have before shelling out your hard earned bucks, you might find a kit cheaper on the other side of the room. Happy Hunting
  11. Tower Hobbies has free shipping on their website , if you haven't already checked them out- www.plastic-models.com
  12. I am lucky to get one started and completed and now you want finer details?????????????????????? Good luck Casey, I am happy to just get a snap kit painted and finished in 3 months time, let alone thinking about cowl vents and windshield trim!
  13. I took a bunch of kits to a show last May and came home with about $350. If what you have is fairly common, I suggest you price them low enough to attract interest but also make sure you make a few bucks. Not sure exactly where you live but check the contest and show section here to see what may be coming up in your area soon. Unless you have experience selling on eBay and the time to track it, selling them there could be time consuming and costly. Best of luck!
  14. Was looking to buy this kit until I saw this review, thanks for saving me $20+ !
  15. Another beauty there Tyrone! That should look great hauling any of your builds!
  16. Charlie Hutton from the old TV series American Hot Rod (Boyd Coddington) was the painter of this car. It is owned by a couple from Nebraska.
  17. Walt, I have a couple of those under construction and they build up nice. Those blocks you added and have circled on the instructions are for the lifted version of that truck. If you omit those blocks, you will have a stock height truck but if you are using the kit tires, those blocks are necessary. Keep posting, maybe I will get motivated to finish mine!
  18. As always, another great looking build! Nice colors and details!
  19. Nice job on the long bed conversion! What I find interesting is that on this vehicle, many people are clamoring for a long bed and on the AMT 72 Chevy, many are converting it to a short bed! Short bed 4x4 pickups with plows are not too common but not rare. Most people I knew back in Northern Illinois went with long bed 3/4 or 1 ton pickups if they were using them for a lot of snow plowing. The smaller trucks were more common for small driveways and tight spaces. I believe the upcoming Ford pickups from Mobieus will be a long bed and a short bed. I hope that they consider a 2wd and a 4wd drivetrain option, i would certainly pay a few more dollars for that kit! Considering there hasn't been a kit with a snow plow offered in 40 years, I am glad to have this one and will add that plow to many different vehicles!
  20. Gonna be cheaper than buying a kit and taking the wheels from it.
  21. Swap the front axle from the Plow truck for the one in the Wrecker and your problem is solved, sort of. The engine detail on the wrecker truck is poor so if you are going for more detail, you will have to cut out the molded in engine and do some scratch building, not impossible, just takes a little time.
  22. Most likely was a special order but I don't think Ford makes a lot of them. Could have been a cab/chassis combo originally and then the bed was added either at the dealership or by the owner. I remember seeing a few trucks over the years like that but most of them were old work trucks that had the work bed (tow body, dump body, etc.) removed and a used bed added. At one time Ford had a short bed dually, usually with an extended cab or crew cab, not sure if they still have that available. Those were interesting to see! Build it!
  23. Thanks for the long run of fun Harry.
  24. Congrats Rich! Those are some nice models and look like winners!
  25. very nice! Us truck builders need some crew cabs and shouldn't have to chop up two kits to get them!
