finally.. some progress on the el camino..
mikemodeler replied to jeffb's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Looking good Jeff, I think that will allow one to build all of the different body styles of the El Camino throughout it's lifespan. I will start saving the lunch money for this one! -

Did not get to see the end of the Indy 500 but glad that TK won it, have always liked him as a racer. I can't believe the cable incident in the 600, I am sure some drivers have a legitimate complaint against Fox Sports if their car suffered damage and they don't finish the race. Sad to hear some fans were hurt, although is sounded like nothing too serious.

Welcome Jeff, I am down in Charlotte but plan on being in Clemmons in August for the CKM Model Car show & swap meet on the 24th!

Andrew- welcome to this forum and hobby. Your skills and talent are beyond most 12 year olds and like Harry said, even beyond some of us "older" modelers! Enjoy this hobby and the time spent with your step-dad as the years go fast! Clayton- thank you for introducing Andrew to the hobby and showing him the basics to get him started. I am sure he will appreciate the patience and time spent together. I look forward to seeing the work you two create and share with us here and best of luck on your show winning build!

highly unlikely that the car was run after being put into that trailer Lee, no signs of the door being opened after all those years. All of the rubber seals are probably dry rotted along with the engine/trans/rear end seals, not to mention the fluids have probably gelled up. The sad thing is while this car is rare find, it will need thousands of dollars to make it driveable. The drivetrain will need to be gone through, the cooling system and a/c will need to be checked out and the fuel tank will need to be cleaned. I think in the video they mentioned that mice had made a nest under the hood so all of the wiring will need to be checked as well.

I remember a neighbor bought one of these as an old police car / black & white. IIRC it had the 440 in even though it was a command car and it would really go! Nice job on it!

Not sure how much the wife will like it but there is a bunch of racing on TV tomorrow that I plan on catching some or all of! The Formula 1 Monaco Gran Prix starts at 7:30 Eastern, then the Indianapolis 500 at noon, followed by Nascar/Coca Cola 600 at 6 PM.

Yes, we owe a great deal of thanks to those past and present for our freedoms.

1/25 Revell '90 Mustang LX 5.0 2'n1 Special Edition
mikemodeler replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
In looking at the test shots back on the first page of this topic, the windows look proportionally okay to me. I guess the only way to tell is to buy one and complete it and compare it to an actual car. Glad to see some new tools coming out from companies and if the model is truly off, hopefully Revell will revise it before the next run. -
Check out Modelroundup or Tower Hobbies- they might have this one for less and Tower frequently offers discounts or free shipping. This is also a great kit for bashing as mentioned- tires, engine, chassis all lend themselves to other vehicles.

Neil Young loves model railroading so much he bought Lionel trains as they were on the brink of bankruptcy years back. It is my understanding that he has a son who loves trains and is a special needs child so it worked out for him. -
Dang Tom, sometimes it takes me a week to figure out which model to start, much less finish! I better re-read those rules Harry posted! Welcome Bill, you will have fun here and there are a bunch of guys with much to share so don't be afraid to ask questions.

History of Revell's Squarebody Pickup kits
mikemodeler replied to kalbert's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Thanks for all of the history and background on these kits, I remember building many of them as a teenager and have a few of them in the stash in the garage. I never was a big fan of the front suspension because as Casey pointed out, it ain't right! The MPC kit of the '78 2WD stepside was the closest to replicating a correct suspension. If we could get a true new tool of this truck series, they could develop several tools including a medium duty cab as they aren't that much different. I do wonder how well the re-issued GMC with the snow plow has sold, I know I have done my best in helping them by purchasing/trading about 8 of them! -
Nick, We all have lives and sometimes we get busy and are delayed in our dealings. All we ask of a businessman or his business is to communicate and that seems to have been a problem for Randy. It also appears that his website is in desperate need of an update as there are many things no longer available and people still ask about them. You have been a great help getting some people their orders filled as you live close to and deal with Randy on a regular basis and that is to be commended. I think we all understand that shipping across the border is not as easy as one would like or think and that contributes to part of the problem. Hopefully Randy finds a way to balance all of the demands life is asking of him AND continue to provide us modelers with quality resin.

The one that got away.

Had the chance to pick up a numbers matching 70 El Camino SS396 with a freshly rebuilt drivetrain in 1982 for $1,500. Gas was going up and instead I bought a brand new S-10 with a 4 cylinder Isuzu engine! Had fun with the S-10 but the 'Camino would have been much more fun!
