  1. I just might have to make a trip up to Beer Town in April. I haven't been to the show in years and despite some of the talk about die cast, I always managed to find some deals and even a couple of Holy Grails ! Do any of the resin guys make it to the show?
  2. Craig, No offense taken, I just thought I would toss that out there because like you said, there is always someone complaining about a lack of a 76 Buick Skylark 4 door model he wants to represent his first car! I am guilty of collecting multiple versions of tri-five Chevies, 67-69 Camaros and 32 Fords and am looking forward to what "NEW" stuff is coming our way. I wouldn't be opposed to the model companies updating or re-working some existing kits because we all have a list of kits that with a little help and 21st Century technology, could be much better representations! BTW- how hard was it for Revell to come up with that COPO 69 Camaro ? I think they cheated and combined parts from the Yenko Camaro and COPO Nova !
  3. As always, nice work Tom, looking forward to the finished model.
  4. The AMT kits are just reissues and in most cases I would take the Revell over the AMT , especially looking at your list. I think it is a great time to be a model builder with all that is being sent our way.
  5. Craig, Just so you know, I am not against more 32 Fords, I would rather like to see some other kits that either haven't been kitted before, need updating or are an improvement on what is out there. I, like many others, am anxiously awaiting what new stuff is coming. I feel that we are seeing a bit of a resurgence in the hobby thanks to Mobeius and hopefully it is a sign of better days for us modelers.
  6. Will do John. I would say look for the middle aged, fat balding guy but there will be more than one of us there!
  7. Gee, let's see, I think all of the 69 Camaro and 32 Ford variations have (or will have) been covered by 2014, so it must be something REALLY good! Maybe some long desired new tools? Better start saving my lunch money now!
  8. Wife told me this morning that I had to go to this show otherwise I would just be grumpy and miserable all weekend. I guess I better check my lunch money savings account to see what goodies I can buy!
  9. I thought Stanley Steamer was the carpet cleaning company????? Nice one Harry.
  10. My sentiments exactly. After 10 plus years I grew tired of the various reasons for the delays and the occasional damaged copy. I wish I could say I miss not getting the magazine but in my busy world, I don't. Maybe if the magazine was available in a digital format I might be interested. I am surprised that at 11 pages we have not heard from Gregg, is everything okay with him these days?
  11. coming along nicely! I wonder if Revell will re-issue this kit at some point? Sure would be nice to have it around again.
  12. The one ton wheels would be correct for the Strickler truck, but the others shown would need wheels from a larger truck (think 20 inch wheels from a 2 1/2 ton) . If you are going curbside, the Ford Louisville truck might be the right wheelbase(or easily modified), otherwise the L-700 is probably your best bet.
  13. Does it pull the front wheels off the ground when you launch it? I think that is what comes to mind for most people when they think of a sleeper, a vehicle with an unsuspecting look to it but with massive horsepower and performance. I knew a guy who drove an 81 Malibu wagon with steel wheels and whitewalls. For added effect he went to Goodwill and bought a baby seat for the back seat and threw a couple of blankets in the "way back" to look like a grocery getter Mom-mobile. Those blankets hid his nitrous tanks and the car would run mid 10 second passes in the quarter mile, made many a fool out of Vette, Camaro, Mustang and other muscle car owners!
  14. I bought a lot of Daisy Duke Jeep kits and a couple of Charlie's Angels vans because of "box art"
  15. very nice, the town I grew up in had these in their fleet, same colors and all! Nicely detailed, did you use a complete resin kit or just the truck body?
  16. Define "decent price" and maybe we can do some trading.............
  17. Despite being a lifelong fan, I am not excited about the NHL returning. We have an AHL team here in Charlotte and they are pretty exciting to watch and fairly cheap to attend a game to boot! Hopefully the owners and players will get the message that these lockouts and protracted negotiations over the last 18 years have cost more than just dollars, some fans have become turned off to the game.
  18. In the small town I used to live in Illinois, they didn't have money for school buses anymore so they did away with them. This was a town that was about six square miles and the only kids who didn't ride the bus had to live within 2-3 blocks of the school as the school system was overly concerned about safety. The funny thing is the buses were maybe half full because most parents still insisted on picking up their kids at school. In Illinois, the state law says that only those students who live at least 1 1/2 miles from school are eligible to ride the buses for free UNLESS there is a major highway or dangerous intersection that the kids must cross to get to school. In cities like Chicago, that probably means a lot of kids ride the bus despite living less than a mile from school. I think walking to school would be great for kids but because we have become such a lawsuit happy society, most schools tend to let kids ride the bus to keep from being sued. In my neighborhood, the middle school and high school are both about a mile away and kids here a more likely to ride the bus in the morning and walk home in the afternoon, especially if the weather is nice!
  19. John- The printing company can't print a magazine until it has it to run. The problem tends to be getting the completed magazine into Golden Bell on time so it can be scheduled to print and shipped close to the date on the cover. It has been well documented here in the past as to why there are delays and if you want more information, contact Harry or Gregg as they are involved in the production of the magazine. Not sure where or which LHS will have MCM, I have yet to find it in the Charlotte market since I dropped my subscription last year. I have hit several Barnes and Nobles' and they do not stock it. If you find it, let me know!
  20. Very nice and another reason why we could use a new tool 67-68 Camaro!
  21. Nice job there Nick! You are correct that the kit is not as nice as the Revell kit, but you managed to polish a turd very well. It has been great to see your skills improve over these last couple of years.
  22. Very nice, great colors and kits. Looks like you "saved" a few also!
  23. To add to Tom's comments, think of the shows we hear about that might be a couple of hours away that we consider going to but may have never heard of if it weren't for the forums? I have met several members here and the ability to trade kits and parts has opened up a whole new world for me.
  24. Joe, The tires in the recently released 69 Olds 442 kit are spot on for your Chevelle, you will want them too. The chassis swap should go smoothly, just take your time and double check everything.
