  1. I have to say the outside pictures do it more justice! Nice clean build and details. I would hate for you to see my work area if you think yours is messy!
  2. Maybe you should contact him and see if you could meet up and share the ride? Great way to make a new friend and save some gas & toll money.
  3. Art, Must you tease us like that? What ever they come up with is sure to be a hit and I am getting anxious to see what they bring us, this year and in the coming years! While it can be said our hobby ain't what it used to be, news of kits like these is definitely a sign that our wishes and voices are being heard.
  4. The AMT 66 Nova Pro Street is another kit that is a good source of parts to use on other models. I have some Revell Camaro kits that I have pirated the engines and wheels out of (Yenkos especially) and the 66 Chevelle Wagon ( soon to be re-released) is another kit that has some nice wheels and engine to kitbash.
  5. One cannot forget the great AMT kits that were part of the Boyd Coddington collection! Honestly, unless a kit manufacturer follows the creation of the kit exactly like the 1:1, I feel the person has sold their name (and possibly soul) to the highest bidder.
  6. Sad that they lost everything, I would be surprised if they rebuilt the business given the fact that they have 2 other stores. Interesting comment by the reporter mentioning the investigation and a tip that the police received, makes you wonder if someone had a grudge against the owners.
  7. The resin caster should have included some instructions as to how to prep the resin parts. If you know who the caster is and don't have instructions, try contacting them. As most have stated, using Westley's Bleech White is the common product that is used and recommended.
  8. Not yet, but there is always the chance that someone will have it available soon.
  9. I might be considered a hoarder, but then again living a long life runs in my family so there IS a chance I could live long enough to build the 300+ kits I have sitting in the hobby room and garage!
  10. That would be nice to have for some people but here in Charlotte we just wait for it to melt! In 8 winters, I think I have used my snow shovel 3 or 4 times to shovel the snow and probably 10 times to get the leaves up in the fall.
  11. Very well said Tom, and I suspect that before too long we will be reading the magazines online and the print version will be something to view in a museum. When I last renewed my Scale Auto subscription, I was offered a digital option in addition to a print version. I opted not to take the digital version but envision a day when that will be the only way to read it. At some point I think the forums and magazines will be merged and we will have to pay to be a part of the action. I am not opposed to doing that, but like many other new things, I will have to be shown the benefits before signing up. I, like many others, grew up "old school" but have adapted to the online world. I applaud the magazines' owners for giving us what they do- forums and print magazines- and hope that they can continue to do so for a long time. The climate in which they operate is a very difficult one and I don't see it improving.
  12. Well, I used to subscribe to both magazines but had to cut back earlier this year and MCM lost out as it was the one up for renewal. While SA has a corporate feel to it, I do appreciate the fact that I don't have to guess when the next issue will arrive. That was a contributing factor to my decision along with the condition the magazine showed up in most months. I applaud Gregg for putting out a magazine in a time when readership of publications is in a decline and especially in a genre' of such small proportions. Hopefully I can subscribe again in 2013 as I have tried to find the magazine at hobby shops and bookstores to no avail. I do like the variety between the two competing magazines and think it is healthy for us to have the choices.
  13. Chris, Have you contacted any of the resin casters on here? There are several in Michigan alone that produce high quality pieces. Not sure if Norm at RMCoM or Don @The Modelhaus would be interested but it can't hurt to contact them. As I stated before, I would be very interested in multiple copies of a chassis & 4WD conversion for some of the kits in my stash, along with a couple of resin pieces. Please don't give up!
  14. But on the other hand, that "other" model magazine should be here any day now with the February 2013 issue.
  15. Is that what Gregg is getting for your Mustang for all of your dedicated work Harry????
  16. The three rings of marriage: 1. The engagement ring 2. The wedding ring 3 The suffer- ring! JK, been married 22 going on 23 years and while it has had it's share of ups and downs, it has been well worth it! Congrats to you and your bride-to be!
  17. Do you have a picture of what you are looking for? I don't remember seeing them before but then again my memory ain't what it used to be either!
  18. No longer subscribe so I can't say why it isn't there but I would suspect it is like previous issues that were late Lee. Merry Christmas to you !
  19. If you have a Hobby Lobby near you, print off a 40 or 50% off coupon and check out their artist section, they have magnifiers and lamps and if that is what you really need, then I think that could be your best bet.
  20. Merry Christmas to all and may the man in the red suit bring all the styrene and accessories on your list!
  21. Harry, I was concerned about moving to the South (NC) back in 2005 because of the humidity but the big difference here versus Chicago is that once the heat and humidity set in,it sticks around and you get used to it, unlike the yo-yo effect of Chicago's wacky summer weather. I had a heck of a time going from 90 degrees and a dewpoint of 72 one day and the next it would be 70 degrees and a dew point of 48 in Chicago on any given day in the summertime. I think this past summer you had more 90 degree days in Chicago than we had here in NC, and when I visited at the end of July, it was nearly between 98 and 101 degrees 6 out of the 7 days I was there! You would enjoy that Mustang a lot more if you lived elsewhere, something to think about.
  22. Your builds are always impressive Tyrone, and this batch is no exception but if I were to pick my favorite out of this bunch, it would be that El Camino! It has the right look and the paint & details are outstanding! Thanks for sharing.
  23. I need to check and see if tables are still available, I sold a bunch of kits at the show in May and made enough money to join the SCMA!
  24. Pictures of his products or a means to contact him works wonders for the rest of us wanting to know more! If you have a link or pictures, please post them!
