  1. I paint alot of the small pieces while on the sprue as I usually have 5 or more builds going on at the same time and try not to lose them. I don't build for contests so if my parts aren't perfect, it isn't a big deal to me.
  2. Gray, I am on the Southside, Ballantyne area. Our mail delivery leaves a lot to be desired. On Saturday they had 2 different trucks running in our neighborhood, both delivering junk mail! Good thing postage went up today, they can justify the two trucks now!
  3. All of the complete kits include the 8' bed, no short bed option. The one kit for $65 is just the cab, it requires the AMT Little Red Wagon kit to finish with the step side bed.
  4. I thought you sold that on eBay last year Robert! IIRC that is a replica of the Hot Rod build of the car called "Suckers Bet". That 1:1 is owned by a friend of mine and it was in recently in Hot Rod again as part of Drag Week coverage. Nice job on all of the Novas posted here!
  5. I think there have been a few postings of diecast late model Tahoes on here with models from Welly (?) Not sure how easy it is to disassemble one and modify it but maybe an internet search can yield some answers. Thank you for your service Sgt. Allen!
  6. What a great way for Dad and daughter to spend time together! Keep her building and she won't even notice boys in a couple of years and your life will be much easier! LOL! I bet it won't be long until she is asking you for one of those Mobeius Lone Stars to build!
  7. At a swap meet in Milwaukee about 12 years ago I ran across a MPC Jeep kit from the '60s that was a 3 in 1 kit that I had wanted for a long time. The kit was open but complete and I got it for $25. I have every intention of building it but have thought about having some of the pieces resin casted first as they have not been in any of the re-issues since then. Since getting back into the hobby 20 years ago, it is the only "vintage" kit I have bought, although some of the kits I have probably have become vintage due to my slow building speed. I have yet to buy a kit only to hold on to it in hopes it becomes a collectors item. I am more likely to buy a kit for parts or trading than collecting.
  8. Welcome and feel free to ask questions, there is a wealth of knowledge waiting to be tapped here on the forum.
  9. That is funny because my November issue showed up about 10 days ago. It was reported in our newspaper that the USPS has changed the way our mail is sorted here in Charlotte and there have been delays in dated mail being delivered. Just last week I got a notice from Sears for a big Craftsman Club sale and I was excited until I saw it was for Dec 18 thru Dec 24! Not much I can do about when the USPS delivers the mail, just hope that it arrives in decent condition!
  10. Hopefully Darin the modelbuilding allows you to take your mind off of your wife's condition and bring some peace to you during what has to be an incredibly diificult time. I know when I am feeling stressed out from life a few minutes or hours spent working at the bench helps clear my mind and rejuvenates me to get back to life and its challenges. Please know that many of us here still have you and your family in our prayers and thoughts. Thank you for sharing with us and let us know what we can do to help.
  11. I used to suffer from those same problems as you Derrick and then one day I got a job offer for Charlotte NC and I took it! After 41 years in Chicago and countless blizzards and lake effect snow storms I sold my house and snowblower! Now when I use my snow shovel, it is to scoop up the leaves in the fall! Gonna be 61 degrees here tomorrow, rainy but at least I ain't shoveling!
  12. Just wait until Dr. Cranky sees this one, he will go nuts! Nice job Robert, great weathering and I really like the Sinclair decals. Do you have any additional pictures?
  13. It could be that he is praying that this model is the one that wins the contest, Harry!
  14. Check out the Modelroundup's new page and you will see that Round2 has 4 slot car bodies coming out in the next month or two. It makes me want to buy and build a slot car track to relive my younger days of racing at the LHS and building cars like Jairus mentioned. I am afraid that if I take the plunge back into slot car racing my model building days will be over as I won't want to build, just race!
  15. Danny, I sent you a PM regarding an order, can you tag me back ? Thanks! Mike
  16. Thanks for the review Danno and now I have a reason for running to the mailbox!
  17. Check with any of the online kit sellers like The Modelroundup, Dean's Hobby Shop, Fred Sterns. Be prepared to pay as this kit was a re-issue a few years ago and goes for $20-40. You might be able to find one on eBay. The Model King kit has the parts to build this as a 2WD as well as a 4WD.
  18. Al's stuff is top notch and well worth the wait and cost. I placed an order and it took about 2 months to get my stuff, which was a little longer than Al estimated but the product is very nice! I did place a big order and Al casts product as it is ordered so I knew I had to wait and he wants it to be right before he ships so I appreciate that aspect of his business. As was mentioned, he travels and resin casting is a sideline for him so please be patient when you do order. I have not heard any bad stories about Al and i would just warn you that it may take a few tries to get through to him but you will love the product!
  19. Looks like a Ford Chassis, I would have to check my workbench to be sure. The exhaust has me wondering.
  20. I think the question is "why aren't sub-frame connectors being shown?" . To explain what that means is the Nova is built as a unibody frame vehicle or simply that it does not have a full frame chassis like a full size car (Impala) from the same era. A common thing to do when building a Nova (or Camaro) from these years was to add sub-frame connectors to strengthen the chassis for drag racing. By using the sub-frame connectors, a racer would essentially have a stronger frame that could withstand the abuse of hard launches during a race without having to build a full tube frame like a modern pro stock race car.
  21. gonna be getting my order ready tonight!
  22. Harry, Aaron Rodgers did not drop those 6 or 7 passes...he didn't fumble the ball 4 times and he doesn't play defense either. I am not a Packer fan but that whole team played badly for 60 minutes, that is how you lose a game. He will get asked about the loss and will take some of the blame but it doesn't all fall on him. They were playing with heavy hearts after their offensive coordinator's son died tragically earlier in the week and they had coasted since Christmas. The team that won today was the one that showed up and had something to prove.
  23. Cool Nick, I will be watching this one. Your skills have come a long way and I am sure you will do this one justice! You gonna keep it yellow or change the color?
  24. G, 1 inch of rain= 10 inches of snow. Think of that lake having a lot of melted snow in it! Lived in Northern Illinois for 41 years, got tired of snow and cold, moved to Charlotte 7 years ago, now I use my snow shovel to scoop up leaves in the fall ! back on topic- I remember having this problem when I lived up north and short of a heated garage, the advice the guys have given about keeping everything warm is the best way to get a decent shine. I would let it gas out and dry and then polish it out to see if the blushing disappears.
  25. Giants Win! Giants beat, no, slaughter the Green Bay Packers! As a long suffering Bears fan I say GO GIANTS!
