  1. All of mine have already been mentioned here: Motivation Patience Painting Decals BMF Finishing Detailing Finding the time I aim for perfection and allow myself to get bogged down in the details which usually means very few models done in a years time. I can knock out a snap fast model because there is very little detailing involved versus a glue kit. Glad to know I am not alone in my suffering!
  2. You forgot the ugly part George!
  3. add me to that list.
  4. That is how it is spelled in Canada Dave! Next time consult your USA to Canadian spell check! Nice model there Nick, your skills have come a long way recently!
  5. Much like a fireman or policeman, a racecar driver chooses his profession and understands the risks involved. In most cases it is through no fault of their own that they die doing their job. Getting behind the wheel of an Indycar or a passenger car, the driver understands that they have a responsibility to drive in a safe manner or else risk their life. As I said, I have sympathy for the two young children (2 years old and a 7 month old) that have lost their father and the wife who lost her husband.
  6. Using your theory Harry, did the 343 Firefighters that died on 9/11 not deserve our sympathy? What about their families and friends? What if you were killed driving home in your Mustang on 294 and you were speeding? Would that not be a tragedy to your family? Yes, Dan Wheldon died in a very dangerous sport and knew the risks but like most race car drivers probably thought it wouldn't happen to him. My sympathies go out to his friends and family, especially his two young children who have been cheated by his death.
  7. On the body work part Dr or the obvious "Frenching" some of us deranged are thinking of?????
  8. As always, another awesome build and detailing that is beyond my skill and patience level! Whatever color you decide to paint it will be the right one.
  9. So does that mean we all got it right regardless of our vote????????? My streak is still alive.
  10. 1. To get ideas for future builds. 2. To see what others are building 3. To buy more kits that I probably won't get to building. 4. To buy more resin pieces that I probably won't get to build. 5. To see others and make new friends. And maybe someday see a bikini contest.
  11. That is one sweet looking ride and should be even better when you do your version of a full detail! It will be interesting to see how much better the upcoming Revell kit is versus the AMT kit of the "new Camaro" that came out a few years ago.
  12. Like Jim, I USED to live in Illinois, having grown up in Waukegan. I was living in Winthrop Harbor up until June of 2005 when an employment opportunity was offered to me to move to Charlotte, NC. I had to decide between shoveling snow or sweating a little more during the summer and found that Old Spice deodorant is cheaper than a trip to the chiropractor! The happiest day in my life was selling that 8HP, dual stage, 30" wide snowblower and giving my winter coats to Goodwill! I will admit that it was a lot of fun visiting many of the LHS and shows that were in the area but considering we have seen a total of maybe 10 inches of snow over the last 6 winters compared to probably 300+ inches in Northern Illinois over that same time frame, I am glad I moved! Add in the drama with the last Governor and how broke the state is, and I do feel bad for those of you still there.
  13. Nick Winter is the forum member who has the personal relationship with Randy. Nick lives close to hobby shop that Randy owns and sees him there. There have been a few stories posted here about long lead times from Randy, which most have been attributed to his running the hobby shop and casting resin. Best of luck in your quest!
  14. That is one nice looking truck and that plow looks so real!
  15. I think everyone has said what I was going to say but again, great job and excellent details!
  16. Almost done and looking great! Just in time for the first snow fall, make sure you have some weight in the back of that truck!
  17. Real, a couple of things made me vote that way, been a long time since I was wrong so I could be due! Answer revealed on Friday!
  18. Happy Birthday Bill and here is to many more! I am right behind you (48 in December) so I know what you mean about it sneaking up on ya! Wouldn't it be nice if the LHS or Hobby Lobby would offer a discount to AARP card holders? I wouldn't mind having one in 2 years if they did! Hope today is a great day for you and you get all the plastic one could want for their birthday!
  19. Check the back pages of MCM or SA, there are folks who will buy your collection. You might not get what you think you should but if time is of the essence, then it might be the way to go. Remember that a collection buyer has to factor in carrying costs when he makes you an offer and a lot of it has to do with the types of kits you have. Another route to go is to check and see if there are any model shows coming up in your area. You might be able to get a table and if priced right, you could sell them there and go home with cash. Of course my problem seems to be that I buy as much as I sell in those venues!
  20. Looks very realistic there David! Those lights are near spot on replicas of the real thing. That looks like it is very close to being done and ready for the first snowfall! Hope you are successful in getting that crew cab body cast, I think it would sell!
  21. Check with Norm Veber at Replicas and Minatures of Maryland, he should have what you are looking for.
  22. Nice, keep em coming!
  23. I will second these comments! His stuff is near perfect and as advertised, but he is a busy guy and it may take a few weeks or more to get your order. You will appreciate the wait and be wowed with the product.
  24. That is coming along quite nicely. I would suggest that you consider resin casting that plow as there are members here who would probably buy one (or more!) or you may want to have one for your next project. I agree that it is a shame that no one has cast a resin crew cab in the current body style, I see many possibilities. Not sure if you are going to duplicate those plow lights but if not, Craig Hosfeld (mannyclub on this forum) casts some nice ones that I bought earlier this year. Clean castings and nice decals for the lights! Can't wait to see more of this one!
