  1. Drew, There is an Ollies' in Matthews, next to the Hobby Lobby. There are others in the greater Charlotte area but that is the only one I have been to. Very much like a Big Lots, have to keep checking to see what they have.
  2. Well, if the past is any indication of what will happen, I will get my September issue in November! Thanks for the update.
  3. Any updates on when the September issue will be out? When I checked with the lady at Golden Bell Press in late August she said the magazine was due soon. I know this is an reoccuring problem but it sure would be nice to see the September MCM before the December SA arrives!
  4. looking good Clay, nice details and great color choice. Can't wait to see it finished!
  5. Okay, now you have gone too far! This build has officially become over the top when you are doing tutorials on YouTube! Seriously, this is awesome to watch and I can't imagine how much this build will weigh with the batteries and stretched frame. The final product should be incredible and I can't wait to see it done. Any chance you will offer those light bars to us less skilled modelers?
  6. I share the exact same feelings about these 2 kits! I think my "Old Pro" is going to end up in a diorama minus the front fenders, thereby eliminating the fit issue with that kit. Can't wait to see it done.
  7. I am not a lawyer but I am staying at a Holiday Inn Express tonight! In this day and age, I feel once it is on the 'net, you have relinquished a lot of the control as anyone can take it and use it as they want.
  8. Harry, Did you mean white walls or white wheels? The white walls threw me. Clean build and nice details.
  9. They look nice and I agree on that silver paint, it is almost cartoonish with the flakes in it! Nice clean builds and you will just have to get another '69 Camaro with the HL coupon this week! I see you are from Kenosha, I used to live nearby and travel there to go to Don's Hobbies- did he finally retire and close his shop?
  10. Looks like you are well on your way to having a nice setup. Just remember to pick up supplies as you need them. That workbench area looks very organized and thought out, you should be able to find the tools when needed.
  11. Their ad also said all aerosol spray paints were 25% off and I am curious to see if that applies to the Testors paints as well. Could be a good shopping week at HL & Michaels!
  12. I believe these were featured in MCM earlier this year and the cost of the unit was in the $100-$150 range, although it might be higher. Portable and lightweight, these would be ideal for modelers who don't have a dedicated space to paint. I am saving my lunch money so I can get one, unless Santa brings me one for being a good boy this year
  13. Have to agree with Lee, you are showing great improvement in your builds! The tip about black paint is something I will have to try. Keep at it and you will master the BMF, I still go back and forth on my builds with chrome paint and foil.
  14. I remember looking thru the JC Whitney catalog as a kid and asking my Dad to buy stuff for the family station wagon. Today many of those parts would be considered tacky but back in the day, it was the thing to do! I would say that you have captured the style and essence of the day with the build. Living in the South, I occasionly see some older pickup trucks that have been "customized" like the one you built. Nice job, now you need to build the companion car to go with the truck.

    69 Nova

That is a very clean build, you must have had some strong competition if you didn't place. Nice details and it reminds me to get working on the Nova I started earlier this summer.
  16. Don, Looks great, can't wait to read your review! I remember reading somewhere how a guy used the self sticking food wrap (?) to line his spray booth to keep the paint buildup to a minimum and make it easy to clean. You might want to try that method and let us know how it works.
  17. By stock do you mean with the two chrome simulated vents instead of the cowl induction hood? If so, I believe there are several resin casters including Bandit Resins who offer such a piece. I just picked up one of Revell's snap kits of the'69 Camaro that has the SS hood instead of the cowl induction hood but haven't checked to see if it fits the glue kit. I would check with the usual sources like The Modelhaus, Reliable Resin, Bandit Resins etc.
  18. I renewed my subscription in mid August and when I checked with the office in early September, Gregg was close to having the mag ready for print. I have grown to accept that the mag doesn't arrive in the same month as the cover is dated but is usually a good read when it shows up. Hang in there, it will be here eventually.
  19. Only takes a few apples to spoil the whole basket.
  20. Brian, Thanks for sharing and also making most of us jealous of his collection! Like you mentioned to Harry, having multiples of a kit can lend it to being built in many variations. By chance did this fellow originally come from the Midwest? I see some markings on some of the kits that remind me of a Hobby shop back in Southern Wisconsin that has since closed. Talk about stirring up memories! Thanks again!
  21. Could it possibly have something to do with a show in 3 weeks? I am sure it will be worth the wait to see it.
  22. Looks great and nice to see some progress on it! A quick question though- what are you doing for fuel tanks? I noticed that the second set of steering wheels are pretty tight to the forward wheels and the fuel tank that came with the kit probably won't fit. I would hate to see you extend the frame some more for the fuel tanks!
  23. Joshua, The trick is to win some money at the casino and THEN go to Floyd's museum. Give the wife some spending money for one of the many arts & crafts stores and she can't complain about you hitting the hobby shop.
  24. I do believe that Floyd Garrett's Muscle Car Musuem is near there as well.It costs a few bucks to get in but if you bring a camera you will probably get some great pictures to use later for inspiration. There are a ton of things to do in the area, just depends on what your interests are.
  25. The Revell Chevelle wagon has a nice set of exterior door handles, maybe you can resin cast them and make extras? I would also look at the resin casters like The Modelhaus, maybe Replicas & Minatures, or some of the photo etch guys. They might be able to be scratch built using sprue or Evergreen stock.
