  1. I haven't been able to get a really good picture all this summer, but here's what I could manage. I'm going to try to find a tripod and experiment with this camera some more, maybe buy a better one.
  2. I've found a lot of joy in the past month of making display bases. Take a chunk of wood leftover from some project, about 8 inches long and 4-5 inches wide. Spray with brown, then green, sprinkle sawdust on it and blow off the excess, some embossing powder here and there, more green, then a little light overspray of brown again. Add some small chopped twigs (small pine branches work well) scattered around, then liberally coat with dullcote. Set it somewhere moderately warm to dry, and it should be ready for a vehicle in a couple hours. I've made five this way in the past two days. The other thing I've started doing just today is going for way-out decisions. Take for example the Chevy Van from Revell I've had 80% done for the past month. I'm going curbside with it, but I wanted some interior detail. I got waylaid on how to paint the interior so I shoved it aside. Just tonight, I looked at it on the shelf. "The interior would be pretty weird in orange on that," I thought to myself. Instead of debating on it any further, I immediately took the interior downstairs and sprayed it orange. Not only is it amusing, but I'm going to have the thing done in the next two days because of a snap decision and the "who-cares" attitude.
  3. Gotta love the Coventry-Climax "Lady Godiva" emblem.... however, gotta love the "Triple Lion" Ford emblem.
  4. Generally easy day at work yesterday, and I have the day off today. Hopefully I'm going to be working on the VW doing rust remediation and engine removal.
  5. Saturday, I got off work, then we were nearly home. We always go past the recycling center, so I put forth we should stop in. Of course, Dad said no because he "didn't really feel like it." "Come on," I said, "I'm paying for gas here." Stopped in. He found a pretty big trunk, a CD rack, and a woodstove stand. I found a piece of steel pipe and a pair of Realistic Nova-15s. One of them had a bad woofer (which I only found out when I brushed the foam on it and it fell away... a feather touch all the way around took all the foam off ) but I'm keeping both of them and putting new matching Celestions in them at some point.
  6. Probably a bunch of parts this time around. Tires, both for drag and street. Headers, diorama bits, detail stuff, seats, headlight lenses, maybe some wheels. For a full kit, if I find an AMT Opel for a reasonable price, I'll probably get one.
  7. "I asked him, he said he'd been thinkin' 'bout killin' someone 'bout long as he could remember. Said he wanted to go to hell. Be there in 'bout five minutes."
  8. I went out and wrestled with the seats in the 'Dub tonight. Driver's side seat slid out with no problem. However, the passenger one seems to be stuck on the outer rail. Another task for tomorrow. I also decided to total up all of the needed stuff. The floorpans aren't really bad, but there are a few quarter-sized holes in each, so replacing them isn't a bad idea. All of the body is completely solid. Now, what is needed... The whole interior kit (headliner, seat covers, door inserts, yadda yadda), dashboard, steering wheel, belts (racing harnesses and seats, possibly...), maybe wheels, definitely tires, an extractor exhaust if the one we had is MIA, smooth bumpers, disc brake conversion, trim and clips, all the seals, and possibly emblems. All in, after I totaled it up with the most expensive options (the two smoothie bumpers at $999.95 included) it comes to $4169.10, not including paint and detailing. Junkyards, here I come.
  9. Poly-mimetic alloy?
  10. Uhh... kinda stalled on the Corvair. Trying to make a turbo manifold for it is interesting, to say the least... maybe the Monogram '55 F100 street rod would be more easy since the engine is already new and torquey...
  11. My Win98 desktop works just fine, as well. I'm thinking about actually upgrading it... to 2k.
  12. Those should work great. I was planning on using them on a Monte, anyways.
  13. Yeah, it's a Bluetooth-enabled suite of garbage. Music, hands-free phone, assorted distractions.
  14. They're different scales, as well. Still, it shouldn't be skinnier... taller and longer, yes.
  15. Anyone know a place where I can get resin late-model steel wheels like this?
  16. Lots of models, a new (Goodwill new) windbreaker, Spose CDs, and some Xbox gear.
  17. The Revell Corvette gasser, the Revell '57 Ford Custom, the Monogram Ford Pickup Street Rod, some Hugger Orange paint for the 'Vette, and some AMT Parts Pack Goodyear slicks.
  18. That's exactly what I was thinking. They tell us that our paycheck comes every second Thursday, and it usually does. However, what if someone working there had a family to feed? Even being a day late could mean they go hungry for a day. Still, I got it today.
  19. Seems that good things come to those who wait. Yesterday, I was annoyed that my check was late. Well, it arrived today... $300! Thank you, Fourth of July time-and-a-half!
  20. Both mine and my sister's checks (we both work at the same store) were delayed today. If they're not delivered tomorrow, something funny is up.
  21. You can make a pretty cool switching layout on a shelf.
  22. Well, that's enough internet for today... It looks AMAZING! The exhaust detail is perfect!
