'I can understand why you'd want my wallet, so's I couldn't buy anything while I'm in the cell, but what you want my belt for?' 'Kid... we don't want any hangin's.'

Ooh! Been waiting to see a build of this Volvo kit!

Eventually they'll lock everything that can be used as a weapon. Pencils, spoons, sticks, rocks, cars...

It's a pain going to Walmart buying model stuff. First, they don't have kits anymore, and second, I can't even buy a can of paint myself. They're thinking I'm going to huff it or something, so you have to be 18 to buy it. I talked to one of the employees one time about the model situation, and he said how he didn't know why they stopped carrying them as they always sold out in a timely fashion. Maybe the stereotyping of people who buy super glue and spray paint is the cause. As for the paint, I've tested colors before by spraying some into my palm!

Thunderdome was my least favorite. Road Warrior and Mad Max are tied in my book. Hope to see the new one soon.

I suppose you could check action figures at Walmart and such for guns. -
No idea. Not your regular Bug engine! As for my VW, here it is now... or close to now. This was in-progress of moving it; it's since been jacked all the way up and the holes it was in have been filled. The old Meteor bias-ply tires hold air miraculously well, but definitely need replacing. The fenders had just been hanging on the sides for to protect the computer from the weather, so we moved them before we move the car. It'll come out into "the way" (open area of the yard) and get cleaned out as best as it can be right now and then checklisted, along with a fluid drain.

A good place to start is with empty parts trees. Some have interesting curves on them that you can use for all sorts of things, especially tube axles and giant exhaust pipes. If you're going the scratchbuilding route, make one side then base the other off of it. It's best to use soft stock for it.

What non-auto model did you get today?

The only reason I picked this kit was because it was 1/26 scale! I wanted something quite close to the car scales I build. As for the figure, he's going to be a kind of "elf-on-a-shelf" around the house. I'm going to paint a Hawaiian shirt on him, make a big-brimmed hat to put on him, and just shift him around every once in a while. Right now, he's sitting on a branch of a fig tree inside. -
Never heard of a Beaumont before this. Interesting.

Just happened to find this on my FB wall!

Well, i guess we just see it different. I'd rather build a car, gain an emotional connection to it. Might as well, since I don't have my license or a permit, haven't even started driver's ed.

Great! Been wondering how to make good turbos for a while!

Put a brand name to these wheels...

Looks like a hybrid of the two. -
Ain't gonna be sitting around for much longer! What happened today... Went back to Goodwill and turned in my papers. When I was idly browsing through the toys, I happened to see a body for a '56 Crown Vic! No price, so the girl at the register said she'd just charge 50¢, and with the discount card, it came to the grand sum of 47¢. Not bad! Just a little damaged windshield frame, but workable! On the way back, I suggested to my father to stop at the local recycling center. "Sure, why not?" he said. So, in the woodpile there, I found a big mid-seventies Sears/Roebuck stero console of which I will rob the 8-track deck and speakers from. In the huge pile of appliances, Dad found a washing machine with the same tub as ours. (Ours is a stack, this was just a washer, but the same Kenmore.) Pilfered the gearbox from it since ours was toasted and the tub had to be turned manually. On the way back, he remarked how he was glad I asked to stop in there since it saved us $190. All in all, a good Saturday afternoon.
