  1. Sure as heck ain't the fastest block in the running this year, but it certainly ain't the slowest. Scratchbuilt bumper and winch. Made the winch out of some Evergreen tubing, a door hinge, a straight axle endpiece, a lighter wheel, and a fog light. Lost the headlights, but whatever. Hood looks a little crackly in this picture. Dang, I thought the rust covered it up pretty well. Rear wall and top bars are scratchbuilt. The folded top is a pocket from a pair of jeans. Rear seat is from the kit. Paint bucket was a parts box find, as well as the jack. Scratchbuilt a sawed-off shotgun, bundle of dynamite, drink holder with bottles Dremel-lathed out of clear sprue, shifter, steering column, mirror brackets, and drink cooler. Here's the engine: a parts box rescued 409 with finned covers and tri-carb setup. Forgot to add the distributor in when I installed the body, so I just found a coil and put it there. Too lazy for ignition wires. The radiator is from the Revell '94 Impala SS kit, which also donated the brake booster and rear axle. Battery is from the Tamiya Lotus Super Seven. Anything else, feel free to ask. Questions/criticisms welcomed. Happy I finally finished something... Now I need a place to display it. Forgot to add: the trailer is on the way.
  2. Does anybody make that Bel Air roof in resin? Seems like a few people might want it.
  3. I was planning on giving the roof a little rake like this... Any color plans yet? BTW any more work on that Muscle Truck?
  4. Exactly my plan for a '32 when I get one!
  5. The whole front subframe for the GT6 was rusted away when we got it. I remember standing in the junkyard as my father and late uncle rolled the Spitfire nose up to it. Dad must've attached it sometime soon afterwards, then it was moved up back. It's got the Spit engine in it right now. I'm currently looking at Rover V8 engines for it, but it'll have a LeMans Spitfire fiberglass nose on it with the streamlined headlight covers.
  6. Potentially this and the GT6 can be mine. All that's holding it up is Dad not letting anything into the garage...
  7. Aside from whatever detail parts my sleep-starved brain comes up with tomorrow, all that's left on the Scout is a couple decals for the windshield, and to install the gas tank and headlights. No more updates here: it'll be in Glass tomorrow night. *edit* Lost the headlights, installed all details and decaled fully. Glass topic up around 4pm today.
  8. The Labatt's streamlined is nice. Some fine plastic there.
  9. Floor in the back of the '73 VW Squareback is starting to cave in. I suppose 17 years of sitting filled with body panels in a wet yard isn't good for metal.
  10. Spent a little time with my car up back. Ground's hardening up, and might be able to move it in for resto soon.
  11. This slick rat rod Ford... ...and this Chevy truck.
  12. Never brush paint a body. Don't be afraid to try new things. Strive for accuracy, even in little ways at first. Scratchbuild something. Take your time, but keep the idea of finishing in sight.
  13. Great movie, had the chance to see it in theater last year with a live orchestra.
  14. Phish Food Ben & Jerry's ice cream.
  15. From what I remember, they charge you $19.95 the first day with a mileage cap. Could be wrong, but I think that's what it is. Keep it another day, rate hike. Go over the cap, rate hike.
  16. Nice little Mini. I've found the joy in embossing powder carpet recently, as well.
  17. Which one of you degenerate nuts is gonna build it first?
  18. Lotsa work has been done! Thanks, Tom, for the hood, tire, and extras! Sorry about the steelies. Couldn't find them, so I used the other wheels. Need to paint the scripts today; got a new fine-tip paint marker just for it. Need to paint the badge on back with some black. Nearly there....
  19. Yeah, I got one: what real benefits would there be to change everything to 1/25? Would it save time or create more issues?
  20. Ah. Had no idea: thought the ones pictured were the same as the kit ones just with the cap removed. As it looks, I suppose it wouldn't be too hard to modify those kit ones to look like the pictured ones.
  21. Tom, thanks for the additional mail! These decals will find their way on some things quite soon, I hope, and maybe I'll be able to attend NNL sometime!
