70.5 Baldwin Motion Camaro Finally Finished!
jaftygas replied to microwheel's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Well looky there. The Baldwin Motion made it from start to finish in only 12 pages. This build sure had me reeled in Jim. You have very good skills. And with all the that's going on it's good to see this hobby still alive, What a great past time. Looks great Jim. -
Which is best AMT or Revell gen 5 camaro
jaftygas replied to jaftygas's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Which body is better is my question. I guess I could have asked that to begin with. Can't I just cut the hood open and add the Revell under hood details? I mean I'm not liking the Revell body. Is the amt any better. -

Thanks; HP. I guess I need to do both. I will start with AMT. -
I love fuel altereds. PureHell.

One other thing there's not a 409 in the bunch!?!?
-
Well, I'm convinced I won't be buying one thanks for the tip, I was wondering if these were worth it, and nope is my conclusion. I can get all the big block Chevys I want and still have the Moroso valve covers I want and some cool tubed tires from revell's 67 pro street, and 68 vette, all for 18.00 dollars a pop.

I would really like to hear from someone with some experience on the gen 5 2010 + camaro, so I can make a good purchase. I have a 1:1 and would love to see the car customized before I do it.

And it looks great too !!! I think I might change gears here and do a tamiya ducati 916 or maybe a 1/25 of my1:1 2013 camaro. Just not sure. I should keep focused on my real job and play with these things as time permits, like uh....... After the holidays! My wife is going to get an outfit to wear for thanksgiving, so I'm going to capitalize and go to the hobby store. Take it easy Jim. -

Thanks Jim The valve covers are from the MCG metal cast Moroso as is the carb, and the Mallory distributor. I didn't like the finned motion ones the chrome is just to thick. Somehow you got away with it because yours looks really good. -
Wow just look at that! Bill you have some serious talent. P.S. I have sent a PM to you.
-
We need more updates on this car Bill. Please tell us you are still out there some were hooking up with Revell, or Monogram cutting a deal. Ha Ha.

I really think I got a bad body in my kit, Because the cowl vent has deformation in it, and the head light rings were split along the hood seam. Your car looks great with the heater hoses brownish orange, and tied down with the etch sprue. Will probably see this in under glass soon yeah? Well anyways hope all is well and hope to see the next one your wifey picks out. Maybe a Chevell ( wink wink ), a I dont know maybe a 69 year, blue with white yenko stripes. I'm Just kidding. Take care Jim. -
I have this fantasy of taking a round 2 69 Chevell and making it a 68. Then throw a straight axel under it, with a blown 409 cid mill and some blue streak pie crust slicks, lose the fender wells in front, ah hell you get the picture, and wait for the green. Only problem is I never have the time, but to just daydream about it.

Thank you Jim. The box idea is a great one so is the tape. I definitely use the lacquer trick for adhesion, and I agree that CA isn't my favorite glue to use I like window maker. I do hope your wife gets well soon. -

I'm not a multi-taskerer my self, but I still find myself trying to be. As far as the MCG stuff I have used plenty of it, but I just can't seem to put paint over it. Now I have seen what you did with the dash, and grille I will start painting the stuff. Once I painted the blades of a detail master's flex fan on a Nova and it looked good come to think of it, but the raw metal just looks so good. Any who your Bald Mo looks awesome friend.. -

Thank you for your complement on my grille. I have had some success with alclad on a straight axel on a Stone Woods & Cook Willy's ounce. I actually take a small endmill and put it in my Drexel and just take my time. I have a GTO coming up and I think I will try the MCG, and alclad like yours. By the way that ref pic is frick'in awesome It is now my wall paper. -
