C/F questions
Petetrucker07 replied to Sam I Am's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Im thinkin that the white/freightliner single drive is your best bet. Youd have to alter the headlights, make stirup steps. Or youd have to get the dual drive and alter it. -

Freightliner DD Help needed
Petetrucker07 replied to 72 Charger's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yeah shift tower will mess with ya. Theres an oval piece that goes into the interior tub with the shifter attached to it. Glue those to the tub. Leave the shifter pieces for the frame, on the frame. Do not attach them together like the instructions. Itll bind and the cab will not sit level, on the rear cab frame mounts. -

Yes the axle is too wide, by about .125. Just section it in the middle. Im guessing the axle is too far forward, im not sure since i lowered mine and eye balled it in the wheel well. I don't know about the steps being wrong, but they are a real pain to put together. The suspension pieces you are referring to, i think they are lower links. They go from the bottom side, right under the rear axle, forward to the middle point. I maybe wrong on that, but thats where i think i put them. -

I sure miss doing that stuff. I operated and programed CNC lathes for about 10 years. It was really cool seeing a part go from a solid 12 foot length of bar stock to an almost finished piece. The parts we made were very similar to the 1st video. We made all the internal components for Honeywell/Garret, who HAD the contract for Ford and their Powerstroke up till Ford redesigned to the twin turbo. The sad part of it, it didnt pay very well. I enjoyed it very much but couldnt take care of things. So i started driving, so i didnt loose the enjoyment of creating something from nothing. I enjoy welding, metal fabrication, machining and building things. Thats my hobby. I enjoy my job driving and dont look it at it like im working the entire time. I just have a long commute to a very simple, well paid job. Thats how i keep the enjoyment in my job. Iam looking to get a small manual lathe for my garage and eventually a small mill. That video brought back some good memories. Thanks for posting it, reminded of just how satisfying it really was, ( as long as i dont think about the paycheck).

Who needs $800 million bucks, anyway?

I think Plant has hard time singing the songs, and is avoiding having to admit it. I think they should David Coverdale to fill in. But then its not Zeppelin. Who really knows what Robert Plant is thinking, or not thinking. -

1/32 Mack and tanker
Petetrucker07 replied to Bige37's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Be prepared for a headache with that Texaco tanker. It will try your patience. -
I remember when i was growing up, my dad and our cross country truck driver friend were joking around. Our friend decided he was gonna get my dad back, good. So he put a small amount of grease behind the door handle on his pick up. Boy my dad was hot. I would be too if i got grease on my hand at 130 in the morning, when your just leaving for work. Our friend just knew my dad was gonna get him back. So when it was time for him to get back on the road after a few days off, he opened the door to the truck with a rag. He was really disappointed there was no grease. When he went to open the hood, he grabbed the hood latches, expecting grease, but again no grease. He was bummed out there was no retaliation. He had a delivery in a town south of Chicago. It takes about 3 days to get to Chicago from California. He pretty much forgot all about it. He went to his delivery, his appointment was around 9 at night, something like that. He grabbed the door handles to open the trailer doors, there was grease, he stood at the back if his laughing for awhile. Then went to open the other door, more grease. He called us later that day laughing his butt off. 3 day old grease with 3 days worth of road dirt and grime. Even though my dad passed away 7 years ago, i still talk to our friend quite often and still laugh about it with tears in our eyes, missin my dad.

I heard he told Branson to give him 48 hours to think about, while the others agreed immediately. When the 2 met again, he tore the contract up, in Richards face and a few choice words, that basically meant no!
