  1. Nice on the paint, but a question, Why are you doing the BMF before the clear coat. I've seen a few people do it that way and always wondered how they were able to wet sand the clear coat without sanding through and damaging the foil work, which is why I always do my BMF work after clear coating. Yes I know that sometimes you don't need to wet sand and polish the clear coat, but what happens if you end up needing to. Why risk damaging the foil if you do.
  2. Nice work on the wheels and tires so far Joe.
  3. Well hello there Joe. Man your build is really starting to take shape my friend. And yes I agree, go with the skinny's in the front.
  4. Thanks Guys. I wish I had time to get started on another one, but I got a ton of stuff to do this spring to get my motorhome on the road and my house ready to put up for sale later this summer.
  5. Beautiful Job Geoff
  6. Nice nice nice and double nice TIm
  7. Howdy there Joe. I'll be watching buddy.
  8. Hey now dog gone it TIm.. Im gonna have a hard time keeping up.... where's the mustang at now.
  9. Cool start Tim. How did I miss this one a while back.... Oh yeah I know.... i was gone for awhile lol.
  10. Now see that, I knew you'd get her done and done nicely.
  11. Always the right thing to take your time my friend. Especially when it comes to model building lol. Cant wait to see the finished project.
  12. Patience Mike my friend. You will get this. I have had the carpet monster eat a few pieces of builds myself. Sometimes they turn back up, sometimes not. I usually look around on ebay for a parts kit for just that reason. As for the glass, when you do get it fitting right, and Im sure you will, I usually use the Radio Controlled model air plane canopy white glue that most hobby stores carry to cement my glass in with.It dries clear and is pretty strong and doesnt leave a messy film.
  13. Very nice work Geoff. Yes the other kits you mentioned are just as nice. AMT did a lot of good quality kits in their later years of production. The bad wrap is unjust in my opinion. I've built a lot of their kits over the years with maybe only a few minor issues. But no more than any other brands of kits out there. Have yet to find a perfect kit lol.
  14. Thanks Carl my friend Thank. I liked the way the hood turned out. Better than I expected to say the least.
  15. I agree with your choice of swapping out the oversized battery with the stock one Tim. Looks much better. It would not have looked out of place to do a color detail on the stock battery as well. Something like red top with white body on the battery to give it that motorcraft batter look.
  16. Very very nice Geoff
  17. Your build turned out nice. BMF work is always a challenge. And with some models even more than others. But the best way to get better at doing it is by just diving in and doing it. I've tried many different ways of working with it over the years, and there are times it still gives me fits. My tools for working with it, is a exacto knife with a brand new unused blade, and a hand full of q-tips and a hand full of tooth-picks. I cut more foil than I need, (yes you will waste some) and apply it, then I press it down with a q-tip, then I trace every inch of it with a tooth pick and then, using just the weight of the exacto knife (no physical pressure at all) I do just what I did with the tooth pic, basically just allow the knife blade to gently trace the edges of the areas being trimmed. then again gently use a tooth pick to trace the edges and help peel away the excesses. There are still times where the areas being covered in BMF will be so obscure from paint build up that the knife blade with want to jump off track on you. That's where patience comes into play. Don't be in a hurry with the BMF work. Take your time and take lots of brakes, it will pay off in the end. Also in case you haven't figured it out yet, remember that the first 1/4 inch edges all the way around of the BMF sheet doesn't have very much if any sticky backing and isn't really usable. Hope I am not out of line offering you some tips on using BMF. Just trying to help.
  18. A great movie, and a nice replica of the movie car.
  19. Wonderful build Steve, and I totally understand what you were saying about the move thing. The wife and I are going to be selling the house and hitting the road in the Motorhome this summer. Talk about hobby room withdrawals lol, it will me a lot longer for me.
  20. Thanks so much for all the kind words guys. It was a very enjoyable build but it did have it's moments where it seemed to fight me.
  21. nice job. The color choice was perfect.
  22. nice work on your roadster build.
  23. A nice start for getting back into the hobby.
  24. Just plain outstanding Tim. You've come along way in the level and quality of your building and detailing skills. I'm very impressed to say the least.
  25. Well there it is. I been waiting to see you get back to work on this one Geoff. Man it is looking beautiful my friend.
