'Why is it though, on this forum there is nothing to be seen about the "other kind"? I don't see any nitpicking here, I'm happy about' I personally haven't seen anything that is nitpicking too, some comments are on the edge between constructive and destructive. I like to think that if you can't take critique, you may have made the wrong choice to subscribe to any type of forum. There will always be critisism from a group of people, it's about how you deal with it. Lucas.

I don't care about negative comments too much, if I think it's useful I'll use it. If someone is breaking my work down, I'll let them talk, it's an internet community, probably never going to see that person face to face. I want to make friends, not enemies and if you can't take critisism there's always a button on the top right of the screen. Click it and go take the dog for a walk to calm down. Lucas.

Harry told me that the chrome trim was missing on my Chevy that I posted in the 'Under Glass' section. At first, I didn't bother about it, but after a few days I thought he was right, and off to the LHS I went to buy me some BMF. Having never worked with the stuff before I was quite hesitant, but started on a small piece of scrap. I tried and came to the conclusion that, although I need alot of practise, it worked really well and I absolutely loved the stuff since it makes so much of a difference in appearance. I build for myself, but that doesn't mean I don't want people to comment things like 'You could try this' or 'If you do this, it would look much better'. I've learned alot since I subscribed to this wonderful board, and that has everything to do with the great bunch of people that hang around here, both in comments and topics in the tips and tricks section. So yeah, you could say that I don't mind critisism, it gives me something to think about for the next models. Lucas.

How can one bend time?
Lucas van H replied to The Creative Explorer's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I live with my dad. No girlfriend/wife and no kids. Since I'm jobless at the moment and solliciting for a new job, you would say I have enough time to build during the day. Not really, my dad and I are making trips to family that I haven't seen for years, and we're renovating the appartment where we live. My build time is when I sit behind the dining table at night with the TV tuned to Discovery for car programs or something like that -
I have been to the Intermodellbau in Dortmund, Germany for the last 5 years straight. Now, it's not actually a swap meet or something like that, but even there, there are people that you smell before you see them. Prices are higher at the shop's stand than in their store. Don't get me wrong, there are some pretty good deals (at least for the 1/24 and smaller scale models) and the sellers are friendly and take their time to help you as best as they can.

Oh, If you're interested in Liberty Walk kits, you may have to look into transkits. I know Eightyone81 makes the Ferrari and GT-R ones. Aoshima also makes (or has made, don't know if the production run on those has ended) the old Skylines from Kato San's garage. Link to the transkits, yep, they're really that expensive and keep in mind you still have to buy the stock modelkit: http://www.eightyone81.com/category/products/transkit/ Different old school LB cars: http://www.ebay.com/itm/11485-AOSHIMA-Nissan-Laurel-130-Works-Liberty-Walk-LB-Works-1-24-Model-Kit-/351283737613?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item51ca24740d http://www.ebay.com/itm/11492-AOSHIMA-Nissan-Laurel-Hakosukae-Works-Liberty-Walk-LB-Works-1-24-Model-Kit-/351283737625?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item51ca247419 http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-24-Liberty-Walk-series-No-01LB-WORKS-JAPAN-4Dr-plamo-Japan-Toy-Model-/291354167876?pt=AU_Toys_Hobbies_Model_Kits&hash=item43d60fca44 http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-24-Liberty-Walk-series-No-02LB-Works-Kenmeri-2Dr-plamo-Japan-Toy-Model-/291350500931?pt=AU_Toys_Hobbies_Model_Kits&hash=item43d5d7d643 http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-24-Liberty-Walk-Series-No-03LB-Works-Kenmeri-4Dr-plamo-Japan-Toy-Model-/301481151379?pt=AU_Toys_Hobbies_Model_Kits&hash=item4631ad4b93 Hope this helps. No problem. I've been looking at the RB one too. They took the body from the stock kit and added some fenders and spoilers in the box. This means that to get the wheels to fit, you have to take a small portion out of the body so that the ride height is correct. Lucas. -
I build, mostly because with the very limited funds and at the moment not so limited time I can dream up and build cars to my liking. Doesn't matter if it's an import, European high performance or classic American car because, well, I like cars . The bit I like the most is that if something doesn't work like you planned, you think up ways to make it work and it wouldn't cost alot of time in comparison to full scale.

Try the Aoshima Rocketbunny one. You can also look into Fujimi kits for the JDM cars. Fujimi: http://www.hobbylinc.com/fujimi-plastic-model-cars-trucks-vehicles-1:20-1:29-scale Aoshima: http://www.hobbylinc.com/cgi-bin/s8.cgi?mfg_2=aos&cat_s=SCB Most kits from these manufacturers don't have engines or a partial one. There are some that have the complete engine block but I haven't found them yet. Lucas. -
@DJmcguire: Yep, Revell Ford F150 svt, been tinkering with that one too.

Thanks guys! Harry: I've never used BMF, and I'm quite hesitant to say the least. Maybe I'll have the courage to do so one day...

Hi guys: I originally built this model about 3 years ago, and painted it in this blue/black scheme (what was i thinking...), and didn't bother too much about painting things you probably won't see. You could say this was a rushjob. Well, 2 weeks ago I couldn't stand it any longer and tore it apart. while disassembling, the front suspension broke into 5 pieces that I couldn't glue together anymore without making a big mess out of it, so I ripped the suspension from a Revell Camaro which has so many parts missing that it isn't worthwile to repair it. The exhausts are also made of Camaro parts, but first I cut away the original molded in exhaust on the frame. The engine is the stock one except for new a new pulley/belt setup and high rise carbs. The interior is pretty much stock, except for 2 AMT Chevy Nova Prostreet seats that I had laying around. To make it stand out with all the red, i sprayed it white, and gave the dash the same color as the body. I used the whitewalls and rims from the Monogram '58 Ford Thunderbird that I gave a quick wash to make it less toy-like. The paint is just Motip 51540 with 1K clear, all from rattlecan. On to the photo's: Before: After: I'll try and take some better pictures in the next few days, and I'll add them here. Cheers, Lucas.

Chassis painted. Stance on the front wheels, still need to touch up the paint. Rear wheels are not connected to the axle, the body is just leaning on it. Plug wires connected to the valve cover. Engine in the car. I got the rear axle in place, needed to modify the wheels a bit so they would bing down the width of the complete assembly, also the new exhaust in place. Made some progress on the wiring and plumbing: So far for now. Let me know what you think. Lucas.

Hi guys. Last week I started a new build. I chose the Aoshima Corolla AE86 with a couple of extras. The reason I chose this model is because it has an engine, which I wanted to detail as good as possible for me. Note: This is the first time I worked with carbon foil, leather stickers and various other things. First I modded some seats from a Revell Audi R8 so that they would fit. I had the aoshima drift parts set in my order, but got a message that they weren't available. Then I covered them in leather, at first it's pretty tricky, but once you get the hang of making templates it works allright. (Note: The edges have all been painted satin black now.) Foiled the hood, the carbon was easier than I had imagined. The wheels: I chose for wide 15'' RS Watanabe wheels, in my opinion the best wheels for this car. Body painted black for the stripes. Engine with plug boots. The red is on, my dad's appartment has a gas heater which is ideal to dry paint on when you set it on there. Just make sure to not overheat the spray can.

What music mediums do you use?
Lucas van H replied to chunkypeanutbutter's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I usually use the free version of Spotify, only downside is that it only offers 10 hours a month of free listening. If i'm not using Spotify, I listen to music on youtube or online radio. In my '01 Carisma I usually listen to cd's since I haven't got a SD or USB port (next upgrade that I'm gonna buy... Changing cd's in traffic isn't the brightest thing to do ) I still need to upgrade the speakers in the back, still the old paper conus. No subwoofer or whatever most people of my age put in their cars... Lucas. -
Is there an 'Ollie's' near by
Lucas van H replied to GLMFAA1's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'll send them a mail tomorrow, I hope there's a possibility. What exactly do you mean with: I wish I had the money? -
This one is what really got me back into model building again, one of the first times I used an airbrush. The top color is Revell Enamel Sand and the bottom is a mix of different colours (Pearl red, Pearl blue, brown and Pearl black). I didn't polish it since I'm a bit hesitant with polishing water based paints and the chance of me ruining it is there. I couldn't get the hood and decklid closing properly after paint, I don't know what caused it but I'll leave it at that. Lucas.

This one was made during a buildoff with a buddy, it's the basic curbside Revell model which went together beautifully. Painted in Humbrol Gloss Orange since that was the closest to the real car. This was also the first time I put decals on a model, some are a bit crooked but I think it's not too bad for a first time. Lucas.

SInce I'm a fan of Impala's, I had to have this one. Built it on my vacation to have something to do when all tourist attractions were closed. Paint is Tamiya Mica red for the bottom and Tamiya Champagne for the top. Still need to put the rear bumper and lights on, hence why I didn't show the back. Also didn't do Bare Metal Foil (Tried it once, didn't like it because I couldn't get straight lines). Lucas

Built this to keep my attention on other things than the situation at home, I painted it with Tamiya metallic blue over a base coat of gold. The trim pieces are hand painted with Revell Aquacolour since I didn't have any other paints on hand. To be honest, the trim isn't perfect, it's far from that. But it's the best I can do with my shaky big hands... I had to modify (i.e. heat it up) the rear end since it was sitting waaay to high in the back, I call it done for now. Lucas.
