I had done this Mack some months ago but wanted to try a steerable lift axle. So I modified it a little. It was easy as the wheelbase was already long enough for the extra axle. I want to thank Steve (Muncie) and Brian who gave me some valuable information here: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=101078
Man this is incredibly beautiful! Wish I could build like this. Funny cars are a special kind of car for me. Excellent build. How much you want for it?
So, Steve (Muncie), according to your explanation this set up would be inaccurate, right? The steering lift axle is too close to the rear wheels., right?
By what I see in this image lift axles are steerable, but how do they steer?
And would the steering rod be facing to the back or to the front? I'm trying to make one from scratch for one of my model trucks.
My favorite kit of all times. That was my first truck build as a teenager around 1979 and in that kit I found theTruck'em up poster order form and placed an order for two posters. I'll be watching your progress. I recently built the reissue. Look at my avatar.
Great answers. Thank you much for the video and photos. I just got a set of picks from Hobby Lobby. Never used them before and was wondering. Thank you guys!
You did a great job on that wrecker. I did one of those also. One my favorite kits. Love the "before and after" photos. At your age I did my first truck many years ago. Keep up the good work! I like the pup trailer too and all the others too.

Can somebody give me the measurement of that cab section in the photo from a day cab kit. Will probably do a day cab out of the Dual Drive kit. Thanks.
