Love it! This thing is sweet!

Glad to see mine is not the only one! Spent a few visits at the bench just sanding and using body putty to try and make it look somewhat presentable. A new mold would be awesome!

hey guys, Picked this kit up to make a replica of my fathers 1:1 version. This kit has the some of the worst body lines I've ever seen. Not to mention nothing fits properly. Has anyone else had this issue with this kit? Any finished versions on here? I would love to see if anyone worked some magic. Thanks!

Thinning enamel paint
1hobby1 replied to sportandmiah's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I spray enamels with very good results on the Yost method. mix 1:1 start spraying. As long as you have the correct distance you will come out with a good finish. -
I am fairly new to the modeling community as well. I also still have millions of questions on paint. I have tried it all and that's exactly what you need to do. Watch youtube videos and ask questions and then try it out for yourself. I personally use either acrylics or enamels. I gave lacquers a try from the can and the paint quility was great! For enamels I use the small testors bottles thinned 50/50 with lacquer thinner and it has worked well for me. I've also had great results with acrylics. I've used Testors Azteks which I have not mastered yet, Craft acrylics and Tamiya acrylics which I personally like the most. For me clear coating is the most difficult part along with sanding after the paint and clear have dried. Practice Practice and patience is key! Reach out to me if you have any questions.

Hey All, So i have been adding spark plug wires to my builds for the last year or so. Some have came out better than others, but my questions is what tips/tricks do you use to make your own distributor and spark plug wires. Thanks!

1962 Corvette Gasser & acrylic paint question
1hobby1 replied to 1hobby1's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I've heard of people using the 91% isopropyl alcohol before. I might have to try that. I wonder if the Tamiya thinner would work with the Testors acrylics. -

1962 Corvette Gasser & acrylic paint question
1hobby1 replied to 1hobby1's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
As for the acrylic question, I have a ton of the small 1/4 oz testors acrylics. I have a Paashe model H airbrush and was wondering what to use to thin it? Would odorless mineral spirits work? Or denatured alcohol? I have some tamiya acrylic thinner as well but heard it doesn't mix well with the testors paints. Thanks! -
Hey all, Picked up the 1962 Revell Corvette Gasser kit, looks to be a great kit! I do have a question for those out there who have built it. The headers coming off of the block seem to stick out way to wide (makes the engine look like it has wings) and looks nothing like how the directions show it. Has anyone else had this issue? I can post some pictures tomorrow if that would help. Thanks

thanks! im going to try some clear coats today on a spoon and see how I like it.

that's a really good idea! I'm actually building this as a Gasser, and was thinking of doing a gunmetal color wheel. I do like the way it came out also, almost feels period correct without a high-gloss. But I wonder how much this color pops with some clear coat. Might have to try it on a spoon first.

thank you everyone! very much appreciated.

So I just finished spraying this body. I used testors metallic copper thinned 1:1 with lacquer thinner. It didn't come out as glossy as the last testors metallic I used but I kind of like the look. I'm on the fence with clearing it or not so, if anyone has used it before and has photos with it clear coated that they can share that would be great! Also what clears do you use over the 1:1 ratio?
-
I have also gotten great results using the same ratio in paint while spraying on to a bare body. Paint and stance looks amazing looking forward to seeing this finished.

Hey Guys, Just finished up this curb side kit by Aoshima. The color I used is Testors metallic black enamel. I also used Aoshima SSR wheels and brought the car as low to the ground as possible which was my goal with this build. Anyways I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but I hope you all enjoy.
