  1. The color is 28122 Ultravoilet pearl.
  2. Love this build. Huge fan of your YouTube page. It was great watching this one come together!
  3. Yea the photo area was a huge let down, looking back it was pretty funny in an unbelievable way. The color is from Model Master, not sure exactly on the color but I should be home next week and will let you know the exact color. Thanks for the good words!
  4. thanks guys! Maybe white walls will go on the front in the future.
  5. Hey everyone, Here is my finished 1940 Revell Ford Pickup. This was a interesting build to say the least and really did not want to be put together at some points, including when my photo area decided to collapse and land on the truck breaking some parts off. It's been dropped, repainted and everything in between and put back together more times than I would like haha. But it's finally finished! I used Model Masters Laquer for the body, the rest was airbrushed with tamiya and testors acrylics (first time ever using an airbrush) interior, engine, flat black bed etc. The kit more or less box stock with some exceptions, I flocked the interior with purple carpet, did park plug wires, and got rid of the horrible molded exhaust the kit comes with and made my own for the first time out of aluminum tubing. I hope you all enjoy!! Steve

  7. Great, thanks guys! Been busy practicing with the airbrush and doing more research. Thank you all once again for all your help!
  8. Amazon has a spray booth for around $65 If you use a 40 percent off coupon at hobby lobby you can get the Paasche single action airbrush for just around $50, I just got it and love it. I have a harbor freight airbrush compressor that was $60 and is very very quiet.
  9. So today I was able to get my hands on some Tamiya thinner, some Tamiya gloss black paint and some pipettes (glass). I got my booth set up and started spraying for the very first time. I was shooting at around 25 psi with a 2:1 mix ratio and the flow felt pretty good. I tried it out on some old parts and was pretty happy with the results being it was my first time. I grabbed some small parts off a build I currently have going and was able to shoot some color on them. I found out fast a base coat is most definitely needed. When I went to clean the brush after using it I ran some of the thinner through the cup and sprayed wide open until only air was coming out. I then rinsed the cup after with soap and water using an old shirt to clean up any mess. I took the needle off and dabbed the shirt with the thinner and used that to clean the needle off as well as the spray tip. Is there anything else I should be cleaning or anything else I should be using? Thank you for all your help everyone!
  10. Amazing work. I Love watching your YouTube page!
  11. Yea I usually use duplicolor and have it figured out pretty well. Wasn't sure if there was special primer for the air brush, I'll just keep using the duplicolor. Works good for me. Thanks guys!
  12. Sweet, I will definitely be giving them a try. Have heard alotnof good things about them. Which primers do you recommend to use through your airbrush?
  13. Great, thanks! I will definitely be giving them a try once I get the chance. Just a compressor today, waiting for a bottle of Tamiya x20a and Tamiya flat black acrylic to come in the mail. I have some plastic pieces I'm going to practice with once I have everything.
  14. I'm pretty sure hobby lobby carries those. I have one fairly close to my house so I can try those out. Do you is the Tamiya x20a to thin them? Or lacquer thinner?
  15. Sweet build!!! cant wait to see this finished.
  16. Thank you! I'll give these a look at as well
  17. I'm gonna give them a try. worst comes to worst I don't like it and I move on to enamels and find a way for better ventilation. the trail and error process begins!
  18. has anyone used Tamiya Acrylics with the Tamiya x20 thinner? I assume since it is acrylic it wont have a strong odor like the enamels.
  19. Enamels seem to give best results. Acrylics seem more tricky. How do lacqueres compare to these? After some more research enamels seem easiest to work with and give best results. Looks like I'm going to have to do some experimenting. Hobby lobby sells some air brush paints and thinners but I haven't done much research on them. Also does anyone have a Paasche airbrush using a harbor freight air brush compressor? Do they hook right up? If not where did you find connections to fit?
  20. Thank you, I will keep all of this in mind. My bench area is set up in my basement and the basement is fully finished with out any windows. I've been opening a door to the hatchway as ventilation, and with spray cans (duplicolor, model masters) it has still managed to stink up the basement pretty strong.
  21. Ive watched a few of Dons videos online already. really helpful stuff. I hear enamels thinned with lacquer thinner is a great combination, I would really like to keep the odor to a minimum and as stated above, it is probably not my best bet. So I think I'm going to try acrylics first. I'll give that compressor page a read as well. Thank you! very helpful.
  22. So Testors enamels seem to be out of the question for me because of the odor. Acrylics seem to be the way to go for much less odor which is exactly what I am looking for. Thank you! For the mixing 1:1 seems to be very popular with good results. Does that work the same with acrylics? Any brand lacquer thinner will do correct? I'm sure Autozone, Home Depot etc. all have large bins I can buy and also use the thinner for cleaning. Thanks once again!
  23. Also for paint mixture, I watched a video on YouTube of someone using the same brush (Paasche H single action) and he mixed the small jar of testers enamel with regular lacquer thinner 1:1 at 35psi and from the looks of the video the results were very very good. Has anyone tried this method before? What are your best airbrush paint brands, thinning brands, and best way to clean the brush after. Sorry for all the questions this is my first airbrush! Thanks guys!
