I did not know that, thank you for the advice! Is there anyway you would be able to share how you fit the bilge fan to work with your booth? That would be very very helpful! Thank you again!
-
Great thanks!
-
Did the search but would like it to be small enough to fit behind the plastic bin, a bathroom fan would be ideal in size.

If it didn't fall apart at least once then it wasn't a true Lancia! On another note, color choice is great and love how you did the interior. Great build, looking forward to more builds from you.

To paint or not to paint?
1hobby1 replied to 1hobby1's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
So I went ahead and gave it a polish with my LMG kit. Started with a good wash. Let it dry, and began. Started with 6000, then 8000, finished with 12000 After 12000 I put the LMG swirl remover and gloss finish on the car, topped it off with some Mothers car wax and I am very happy with the outcome. Thank you everyone who helped me out today! Very happy with the outcome! -
I use duplicolor straight from the can. I believe it is acrylic lacquer. I also use a generic flat black enamel for the chassis and smaller items (walmart has a brand for 96 cents a can that works great.) for clears I either shoot testers lacquer clear OR rustoleum acrylic lacquer clear (tough stuff, I'm a fan) Finding a fan that is safe for those paints would be great. Starting to second guess my choice of fan!

To paint or not to paint?

Great, thank you! And yes the LMG kit came a scratch filler and a polish. I'll try going with the 6000 first on a small section and see the outcome before I attack the entire body. -

To paint or not to paint?

This is better news than I expected! The body seems solid, in my eyes at least. Here is a picture of the body. What grit do most start at with a body that's not painted to receive a good shine? -
Belugawrx - Thank you for the link. many good points were brought up especially about starting fires which is clearly not on my list of priorities . I did not really think about the paints vapors and overspray being able to start fires. I'm going to have to keep doing more research I would really like a safe paint booth but do not want to spend $100+ on a booth. Fastback340 - http://www.amazon.com/Broan-Model-688-Ventilation-Grille/dp/B00004TTZZ/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1424016040&sr=8-8&keywords=exhaust+fan+bathroom This was the fan I was thinking of purchasing. It does not say if it brushless or not and I am most certainly not trying to start any fires. MeatMan - Thank you for the advice, That is probably the best idea and see what other people use with paint booths they made. Also spraying from a can is different than an airbrush of course. That being said, what set up are you currently using? Did you make a paint booth for yourself?

Hello everyone! So I recently started a new project and I actually really like the color the mold came in. The kit is the Tamiya Morris Mini and the molded body is green. Now I would love to keep it this shade of green. I do plan on doing the roof a gloss white. I have the LMG polishing kit and was wondering if sanding the body from around 4000grit-12000grit will help bring out more color in the mold. Has anyone ever polished a body out of the box before? Or should I just prep the body for paint and paint it a similar color? Any advice, input, or ideas would be great! Thanks all Steve

Hello everyone! So I have been debating on building a small paint booth for some time now and I do have some questions hopefully someone can help me out! I plan on using a plastic bin for the spray area, I found a great deal on a 50cfm bathroom exhaust fan on amazon, and will throw a filter in front of the fan. I usually spray my models with duplicolor products right from the can (I do not own an airbrush). I believe a 50cfm fan should be enough but what do you think? Would the 50cfm fan have enough power to suck the fumes and overspray? Has anyone on here made a similar style booth? Any help would be great! Thanks! Steve

Glue residue on taillight
1hobby1 replied to 1hobby1's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I usually use white glue but I tried experimenting and well as you all can see it didn't work to good! The kit has a second set of tail lights, so I might just take the red lens out of both the chrome holders and use those instead with the white glue. Thanks for your help! -
Glue residue on taillight

I used Tamiya ultra thin. -
Hey everyone, have a quick question. I was putting the tail light lenses on my current project and managed to get glued on the outside of the lens. Does anyone have any advice on how to clean up the residue!? Thank you!
-
Thank you, and I will be painting it duplicolors royal blue with the white decal stripes from the kit.

After some time I was able to work the body to sit on the chassis at the appropriate height (I believe) and the hood was able to close shut! Here is how it sits now, just have to build a paint booth and will able to finish up this model!
-
Looks great! Love the color combo on it and the paint job came out very good. Also your hood closes haha! Need to figure out why mine is hitting the air filter.
-
So here is where I stand. The hood will not close when the chassis is brought together, and then put on it's wheels. Also, I feel like the rear suspension is a little low for stock considering it's almost tucking rim. Anyone else have this kind of issue? Sorry for the questions in the WIP thread. Thanks!
-
Get that going again! I would love to see your progress and results as mine have hit a major roadblock. The air filter is what is preventing the hood from closing fully
