I recently painted a body with acrylic paint mixed with future and then cleared with future. When spraying the paint I realized it had to go on very slow and I had to build it up over several coats. It turned out good however the future clear coat began to crack a little after a few months. Personally I'm leaving craft acrylics for other uses even though I had better results than expected with the paint portion. I just painted a body 50:50 mix Testors Enamel and lacquer thinner (Don Yost method, start spraying and don't stop until your done) and the results were 10x better than craft acrylics.

Good color combo! Cool build!

This site needs some more jdm and stanced cars. I think this thing is sweet! I daily drive a stanced car and it's no secret that anyone who stances a car knows that it's form over function. The form on this one is great. Sweet build here!

Hey all, Just sprayed my newest kit, I was pleasantly surprised with the outcome I received. I used the small testors enamel bottle thinned 1:1 with lacquer thinner and I must say I am impressed with the outcome. Not sure I will even need a clear coat since the gloss finish came out so well. One issue is I have a couple small runs towards the bottom of the bumpers. how do most of you deal with paint runs? Will polishing pads do the trick even though I have no clear coat? thanks!

i don't mean to thread jack, but Would you be able to share your regular cleaning and maintenance on this unit? greatly appreciated.

I've had mine for about 6 months. I spray both acrylics and enamels (which I thin with lacquer thinner) and so far, so good. I need to either buy new filters or clean the one I have since I've sprayed 4 bodies with the same filter. If it continues to do the job, I recommend picking one up.

Absolutely perfect. Great job on this one!

well, the hood covers them when the car is on the shelf , and I got a little lazy. ? worse things can be left out.

thank you for the compliment but you are going to be very surprised, the lighting is just normal house bulbs that are on the ceiling, no special setup just average home light. The background are old white shelfs, and the photos are simply taken on my iPhone. No secret here! I set up on the floor under a light on the ceiling. Hope this helps!

This thing looks sweet! Good job on the stance too!

I don't exactly have a "set" method yet. I'm still very new to modeling and still experimenting what works for me. But I must say I was quite impressed with the way the craft paint laid down. Next time I use craft acrylics I think I'm going to try a different clear coat, future was a bit tricky for me and I think I just had some luck on my side the day I cleared it haha. Next model up will be a testors enamel 50:50 with laquer thinner. I guess time will tell how well craft acrylics hold up.

thanks! Yea I did notice the hood was off a bit out of the box, did some sanding and it evened out ok.

Hey guys just finished this one up. Tried a new paint method on this one. Used Folkart acrylic craft paint thinned with future and then cleared with future as well. The car is more or less box stock. I lowered the car, wheels are from my parts box, shortened the rear axle for some wider wheels and tires in the rear, spark plug wires and flocked the interior. Overall I'm happy with how this came out. Hope you all enjoy!

One of the coolest builds I've seen yet!

I was using a harbor freight airbrush compressor and after 6 months it decided its time has come. Happy to see that one is quite because that's important to me. If it wasnt I would just get a pancake compressor with a big tank for storage and use that ? . Anyone else out there recommend compressors?

Seems like a good option. I was looking at regular pancake compressors. Only downfall is they're too loud in my opinion. I like the idea of having a storage tank for air.

Just wow! Amazing builds!!!!

Mine fills up, then once I push air through the gun it looses all pressure.? -

My harbor fright air brush compressor barely lasted 6 months. I guess I learned the hard way you get what you pay for ! -
Gave the craft acrylics with future a shot today on my upcoming project, sprayed right on to the body and here are my results. Came out much better than expected, not sure if I want to clear it with some more future for a super glossy shine. But this does work. Not sure how long it will last or if I will switch to craft acrylics only, but this is a good way to get a nice paint job. Unfortunately my compressor decided to stop working properly today so I will be searching for a new one. Any suggestions? I'm still very interested in spraying enamels 50:50 with lacquer thinner and what to use to clear them? Mainly because I have a ton of the small testors enamels and do not want them to go to waste. I have also seen some amazing results with them. Feel free to add comments for advice!
