Looks really good! That paint almost cries out for some kind of starship mural on the trunk, or something. Well done and model on!

I've started this project. We'll see how it goes. The plan is to use the complete chassis, engine, grille, and wheels/tires from the reissued MPC '32 Ford Sedan Delivery. All I can tell you so far is that the body fits over the frame, channeled-style, which is exactly what I want because it's not an authentic '32 frame anyway. When I get to mockup stage, I'll see if the grill will need chopping a bit. So far I'm working on the chassis. I spent two or three evenings in front of the TV filing and scraping flash and mold indents off the frame, and a good bit of time yesterday fitting the frame front horn extension to it, and cementing it, and then filling all the gaps with superglue gel. Next step is to file all that smooth, and then paint the frame black. After that, construction of the frame SHOULD proceed smoothly. BTW, last week when building the AMT Parts Pack Corvair engine for my EMPI Imp, I discovered the Hemi engine on the same tree includes a separate camshaft. Pretty sure I've seen pics of a real hot rod where someone used an old camshaft for a front frame spreader bar. Thinking of doing that on this model. Comments? Pics when I get enough of something done to be worth photographing. Stay tuned, badass hot rod fans....

Good for you! If I wanted one, and had the extra parts you had on hand, that's not a bad price. Drive on!

Will Microscale Decal Film..........
Snake45 replied to JollySipper's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
"Microscale" makes a NUMBER of decal products. I've never had their Super Film dissolve any decals. -

The Ads Are Now Out of Control!

To quote the great character Napoleon Wilson in the even greater cult movie Assault on Precinct 13, "Can't argue with a confident man." -
HA, I was right up in the WDYGT thread! Good to see you have the bumpers & chrome for it. Drive on!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA! Well they're evil wicked bad and nasty PLEASE step on the ads, Sam! -
Very cool, but what is it? I'll take a crack at guessing. Judging mainly from the Turbo-Hydro trans on the BBC, could it be an MPC '68 Impala converitible with the doors and trunk opened? If so, shame there's no bumpers or hood, unless they're in another pic.

I did a whole thread here in General on Krylon Foil and Shimmer paints. Did you see that? Good pics and info in that one.

Bye-bye dog leg door hinges. What glue to attach doors to body?
Snake45 replied to Jon Cole's topic in Diecast Corner
Another vote for GEL, if you're using superglue. And ask for Loctite brand by name. I've learned the hard way it's THE BEST. -

You'd think that the doctors of people with those conditions would know about these drugs and be prescribing them. Why are they selling them to US? WE can't go buy them if we want to ever so badly!!! -
I glued the front "horns" on the frame of the reissued MPC '32 Ford sedan delivery. This took way more work and effort than I thought. I just filled the resulting gaps with superglue gel, so tomorrow should be able to file that to shape and maybe even get it painted. Then I can drive on with this stupid little project. Oh, also sanded on the filler piece I put in the hole of the Thunderbolt hood of an AMT AWB '66 Mustang I started about 4 years ago. I'm getting tired of looking at that thing on the workbench, too. Might drag it kicking and screaming to the BOYD build.

Thanks, Superdan! Those are hilarious! I've got a tank of cheap gas and nowhere to drive, Country Boy will survive!

The teddy bear wheels look like a cookie or cracker to me. They make me hungry for a snack.

I didn't find it to be particularly fragile. The bumpers/grilles I used it on held up well to normal handling and black-washing and so forth. I'd like to try Spaz-Stix but it's not in my area and it's expensive. Krylon foil is available at Hobby Lobby and the price isn't horrible. It's not perfect, but it's pretty darn good.
