Does anyone kit the Martin Mars? That's a good-looking airplane.

Got all the suspension mounted on my halfbreed hot rod, and darn near got it up on its wheels for the first time. Wrestling all those fiddly little bits to the ground reminded me of why I build so few "rods" and so many musclecars, especially old crocks with 1-piece chassis.

That's pretty cool! Couple months ago I bought a glue bomb Monogram Chap 2D that I'm planning to build into a street version or tribute. It didn't come with wheels/tires so I've been looking for something suitable. (Also pondering a color scheme for it. White's such a cliche, but anything else seems just wrong.)

Italeri or Tamiya 1/24 Jeep (Willys MB)? The MPC WWII Jeeps do NOT have military type tires. The two kits I mention do, but I don't know if they're big enough for your truck.

I have come to loathe the emu as much I hate the lizard and Flo combined. But I would rather watch six commercials featuring all three of them than that drug one with the Alphonso guy again. The one insurance spokesman I kinda like is "Mayhem," especially the ones with Tina Fey. Dennis Haysbert is kinda okay, too. You came to trust him not only as The First Black President, but as leader of The Unit. He's cool with me.

When I was very small, I had a coloring book that had many of the Boeing Clippers in it. I didn't even realize this until many years later I saw a photo of one and recognized it immediately from the coloring book. I would LOVE to find one of those old coloring books today!

Last I heard, they think they might have found his airplane at the bottom of the English Channel. One theory is that it was downed by bombs from a higher-flying bomber outfit that had aborted and was jettisoning their bombs in the Channel on the way home. Doubly tragic, if true. Clutch Cargo normally flew a Bellanca Airbus/Aircruiser, but in at least one episode, he's flying a Norseman.

That's because chassis-wise, this isn't really the HUG, it's more a somewhat accurate model of this car. As you can see, that's pretty much where McEwen really sat.

You're printing it on regular printing paper is the problem. Try printing it on toilet paper and it'll work fine. In fact, you won't be able to tell the difference.

That looks identical to the one I built right down to the color and the up-hood! You wired your engine and I didn't, though, so you win.

That's generally what happened, yes. I've never owned an original MPC '69 Cuda model so I don't know if they retooled the marker lights back in 1969 but I can tell you that this '80s reissue came through with the '68 type lights, even though the rest of it is a '69. I have an original MPC '68 promo in the Snakepit and the front and rear ends are different from the '69s--like yours, mine, and David's. It's definitely a '69. Trust me. I was there.

You'd have gotten your deposit back and told to buy something else. Chevy didn't build any COPO 427 Novas in 1969 (or any other year, for that matter). The kit is a phantom, a complete figment of the imagination of somebody at Revell. Your model is quite nice, though, a real "what-if" dream car. Well done and model on!

To back up the others: The '66 GTO is most complete, missing only wheels. It should bring on the high side of $50, could go a lot higher than that. The Cougar is also very desirable. With the grille--shown in the parts pic--going with it. I wouldn't be surprised to see that also bring over $50. Maybe WELL over. On the '68 GTO, I believe the missing taillight might be the little red part on the ride side of the parts pic. That brings its value up. But it's still missing the grille, which is a big problem. Hard to say what its value might be with the missing grille and the funny car chassis. It might be as much as $50, but I wouldn't bet money on it. Could go in the 30s or 40s. The '66 Comet Cyclone is a very rare and desirable model, but this one has been done with the custom/racing, not stock, parts. It'll have to go to someone who wants to restore it as-is, or rebuild it in pretty much that period style. Hard to say what it will bring. But just a couple weeks ago, I bought a '67--not QUITE as rare or valuable, but almost--in better condition and with all the stock parts (a great model for rebuilding) for under $35. The green '68 Shelby Mustang isn't worth much. The kit has been reissued many times and is readily available. IMHO you'll be lucky to see $10 for it. Hope this helps, and good luck with your sales. I might keep an eye on a couple of them myself.

It's a '69, look at the grille and hood and taillights. This was built from an '80s reissue that had the incorrect '68 side marker lights. When they reissued it in the '90s, they corrected that. They also replaced the Hemi (which this one has) with a correct 383. I did steal the wheels and tires out of a current reissue, though. I didn't like the '80s wheels and tires that were on it.

That's pretty wild! Just a couple weeks ago I finished the "rescue" of a survivor orange '69 Cuda I picked up at an estate sale over 25 years ago. I didn't notice any particular problems with bumper droop, but maybe I need to take another look at it.....
