  1. I have this book. Unfortunately this book, published in 1973 is among the most sought after book for truck modelers. Somebody actually bought one off of EBay a year or two back for close to $1000!
  2. Great start, looks like you’ve taken on a major modification. There have been a few 110†sleeper mod projects on the AMT Freightliner kit. Are you going to simulate the cab rivets? Keep us posted.
  3. I have two sets. Bought em’ about 10 or 12 years ago. Got them from Bill himself. I use to talk to Bill Dreenan back then. He stopped making them because he lost a ton of money selling them. Soon after Bill introduced them somebody offered some similar aluminum wheels for about $25 a piece! They are prefect replicas. When polished on a lathe, they look EXACTLY like the real wheels. Just to buy some correctly scaled scale acorn nuts to match them for a tandem model will cost you about $40! They look great with the Clint Freeman low profile tires. As was stated above, KFS offers a set for $100 or so and IMHO they are not as prototype. The final bid will be at least 3 times as much.
  4. To show how far AMT was in to the Garwood project, check out the box.
  5. I had Webers web address and then lost it. do you have it?
  6. I don't know Alclad has given me the best simulated finsih of all model paints. http://www.alclad2.com/ http://www.alclad2.com/lacquer_colors.html
  7. Kit Form Services has photo etched slam locks http://www.kitformservices.com/photoetch.html
  8. Yes, the photo etched wipers and staples for hand grabs are an improvement. Too bad about the paint lifting off. That's why I always use and recommend top quality masking tape. Next time try #M automotive or Tamiya masking tape.
  9. I grew up in Ohio so I know the Springfield plant.
  10. LOL! Time to get lawyered up!
  11. So you are an ex IH employee.
  12. Cast a couple of them. I am interested.
  13. The container is standard design worldwide. The trailer would need modification.
  14. To me the inaccurate height of the Italeri American reefer trailer renders it unusable. You can take two kits and graft the side walls together, but that is a lot of work. For the skilled modeler though, the results are rewarding. A German modeler, Günter Bönisch did just that with wonderful results. Other issues are the suspension, very inaccurate; it doesn’t have a diesel fuel tank. It was an after thought included in an Italeri truck accessories kit, the king pin and the wheels. I have been lobbying Italeri for years to reintroduce a modern accurate North American styled van trailer. But of course I’m only one person
  15. Ok, I remember that build. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.p...mp;#entry209190
  16. AMT had plans to offer a garbage truck, but a UAW strike and the oil crisis of the mid 1970s put an end to that. An extremely talented member of the MTDG made this fantastic trash truck. I don’t remember who it was, but if you visit that site he is their.
  17. Your technical knowledge is impressive Flatbed, but with all due respect the Italeri American reefer trailer is a bad example. It is out of proportion in so many ways. This has been highlighted many times before. The major annoyance is the height of the van body and as well as the suspension. Ironically due to its inaccuracies, that trailer would look more in scale on a 1/25th scale tractor that a 1/24th scale tractor.
  18. Ok he did remaster it. The new resin casting is nice and thin. http://www.aitruckmodels.com/pages/kitsparts.html
  19. I doubt if it was Dave Natale. Dave owns AITM model parts and tends to be a Mack expert. There was a business back in the late 1980s and 1990s called Pinecrest, out of western Pennsylvania that offered some International resin pieces.
  20. Slightly larger model, more detail. Virtually all totally new truck model kits produced over the last 25 years are in 1/24th scale.

  22. If IH had survived the 1980s, they most assuredly would have competed successfully in the SUV era 1990s.
