  4. I was wondering, why (and when) did the USA decide to go left hand drive? I am sure that I have seen pics of early US cars that were RHD. steve
  5. Thanks for the helpful replies chaps. I will be investigating the links quoted for future reference. As for my location, I'm just outside York, North Yorkshire. steve
  6. This is one for UK-based modellers really. When I was building kits the first time around, 30 or so years ago, it was easy to buy US models off the shelf, even Monogram, AMT, etc. These days, all I can find is a few Airfix and Japanese kits of sports and racing cars, Where are all these hot rod, drag and custom kits that seem to be readily available over the Pond? And as for the detailing parts, forget it! Nothing doing there. There doesn't even seem to be a mail order company over here with anywhere near the range of someone like Model Round-Up. Yes, I know I can buy from the US but the prices of shipping is a real disincentive. I can end up paying more than the cost of the actual kit. Where's the point in that? I also model US outline railways but I have no trouble getting anything I need from specialist suppliers here in the UK. Why isn't it the same for car/truck modelling? Is it that much smaller hobby over here? Any thoughts folks? steve
  7. Ross, 2 absolute classics there but the 5 window just tales it... steve
  8. John, Try posting your query here --> www.rmweb.co.uk There are loads of helpful and knowledgeable modellers on there who will probably know. steve

  10. That idiot dentist who thought that killing a lion, any lion, was acceptable, let alone one that was a local celebrity. steve

  16. I model HO American and German, plus British in what we call OO, which is 4mm to the foot scale as opposed to the 3.5mm of HO. On Sunday 26th I will showing my current British layout at an exhibition: And here's the German one: steve
  17. One of these: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/9/98/Bond_Bug_3_Wheeler_-_Flickr_-_mick_-_Lumix%281%29.jpg/1920px-Bond_Bug_3_Wheeler_-_Flickr_-_mick_-_Lumix%281%29.jpg steve
  18. Lotus Super Seven Series 2 in green and yellow. steve
  19. Sadly no pics but today has produced a blue Maserati Grand Tourisimo Sport and, even more amazing for the UK, real hot rod. It was 32 Ford 5 Window in chocolate brown, with cream steels, big dog dish caps and chrome rings. Couldn't see the mill as went past on the other side of the road. A big surprise was it had no mudguards (fenders). I think open wheels are illegal on the road here. steve
  20. And now, how about a front engined version from the 1950s... Something like this maybe? steve
