  1. She's been holding that grin for 516 years.
  2. I'm still in the process of unpacking a lot of stuff after my move. Model-related stuff has a low priority at the moment, Chris. If I have the opportunity to dig some parts out., photograph and post them, I will. But, like I said, first things first. I'm not trying to weasel out of doing so; just giving a SITREP.
  3. Where in the city are you? I'm originally from Greenpoint and just moved to Rockaway Park.
  4. That's Detail Master's DM-2303 Performance Gauges Black Background set:
  5. You can rub the finish until your fingerprints wear off, Steve. Just use a soft cloth to polish the part and it's nice and chrome shiny again. You can also gently buff it to increase the shine, brilliance and reflective qualities prior to clearcoating. If you do clearcoat it, then, fingerprints, wear and any other related issues won't be a concern. Besides, I wouldn't tell you to get it if I found any issues regarding its performance and durability. Those are the same things I look for.
  6. No B.S. about this this product, Pete. It works as advertised. It looks exactly like a vacuum-metalized part, only like real chrome. Pete J.'s airplane shows it. I tested it on some parts and I can attest to its ability to produce a genuine shiny, mirror-like chrome finish without the toy-like look.
  7. I'll let you slide on this one.
  8. It's located in Karloffornia, 13 mi. SE of Horrorweird: Alsa Corp. Location: 1213 East 58th Place, Los Angeles, CA 90001 Call Us: (800) 999-4120
  9. If you order direct from Alsa, shipping is only 11 bucks. You can use the extra nine dollars to get a coffee at Starschmucks. Steve, you'll be asking yourself how you ever got along without it for all these years. I'm going to get the larger kit to re-chrome the brightwork (rims, handlebars, etc.) my son's Schwinn Grey Ghost. After that, the cat is next.
  10. This is great stuff. It's durable and doesn't rub off like Molotow; and, unlike Alclad, it can be clear coated without flattening/dulling the chrome finish. The kit comes with a water based clear urethane base coat. You can also use gloss black acrylic as a base coat. Neither the clear nor gloss black need to be heavily applied as to obliterate details like scripts and such. You can brush it on; however, using an airbrush is better because you can apply light mist coats. Once you use Easy Chrome, you'll never think about sending your parts out for refinishing.
  11. Considering the price of a model car kit being $20-$30, $139.99 isn't outrageous. A lot of guys here easily spend as much, or twice the amount, at one time when they purchase multiple kits or model-related items. Besides, you could re-chrome parts for close 100 models with what comes with the kit. How much do you think it would cost to have that many items refinished by chrome plating specialist? A whoooooooooooooooole lot more than what the Alsa kit costs.
  12. Get Alsa Corp's Easy Chrome and do it yourself. No fuss, no muss, no waiting for turnaround back to you. You'll love this stuff.
  13. Patrick Macnee was in "The Avengers" Astoria, NY-born Patrick McGoohan starred in "The Prisoner". Great looking Lotus 7, Phil.
  14. When you think about it, there wasn't much to smile about. They couldn't watch The Honeymooners, Sid Caesar and Uncle Miltie until the late '40s - early '50s.
  15. Saw this in Greenpernt while hanging out with my son earlier today, a 1972 Austin Vanden Plas Princess 1300:
  16. 58 in today's world is different than it was 40, 50, 60 years ago. People are healthier, eat better(that's subjective ). Look at old photos of people in their late teens, 20s, and so on. They looked old before they actually were old. They also acted old. I can't criticize those from the Greatest Generation, though. They had their hands full saving the world, which does take a toll on one.
  17. Right-click on the image. Select "copy image". In the reply box, right-click, click "paste" and the image will be in your comment.
  18. I don't ever want to act like the old farts from my yoot. They were grumpy SOB's when they were in their early forties, as if they forgot what it was like to be younger.
  19. i can't accommodate you because I don't use them.
  20. Deal with what? I turned 59 in February and I actually feel the same as I did when I was 49, 39, 29, 19. Age is, for the most part, a state of mind. If you feel old, you'll be old. I'm also still in pretty good physical shape and I do check out hot young chicks at every opportunity. Plus, being that I'm a natural-born schmoozer, I can flirt up a storm with them. I wear my hair super long, with a 18 inch ponytail (I haven't cut my hair since my son graduated 8th grade three years ago) and have a goatee which I've had since 1991. I'm a rock n' roller who still loves Punk, Hardcore, garage and other headbanging music. I plan on hanging around for a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time, too.
  21. It's Aztek with a "k".
  22. Irwin Corp. was a major player in the toy industry. Its HQ was located at 200 Fifth Ave. ( also known as The Toy Center) in Manhattan.
  23. Better than expected update from AP: Some will call it a miracle. According to Notre Dame’s heritage director, only one piece of architecture inside the sacred building has been damaged. Laurent Prades told The Associated Press that the high altar, which was installed in 1989, was hit and harmed by the cathedral’s spire when it came crashing down in the flames. “We have been able to salvage all the rest,” said Prades, who witnessed the recovery first hand overnight. “All the 18th-century steles, the pietas, frescoes, chapels and the big organ are fine,” he said. Among the most famous elements inside the cathedral, Prades added that the three large stained-glass rose windows have not been destroyed, though they may have been damaged by the heat and will be assessed by an expert.
  24. Not so. The entire city of Dresden was essentially rebuilt to pre-WWII bombing state. Same with Nurnberg, Munich Bremen, Hannover and The Old Town in Warsaw. Monte Cassino was reconstructed after being turned into rubble. There are numerous other examples.
