  1. The Cadet Series was never available in the U.S. These kits were all made in Britain Gor'Blimey!, by Revell (Great Britain) LTD, Maidstone House, London W1, for those of you keeping score.
  2. Yeah, watch those "rare, vintage" kit prices nosedive like a kamikaze. I'm crossing my fingers that Atlantis was able to acquire the molds for the '62 Dodge Dart 440, Dodge Lancer GT, Chrysler Newport Convertible, Valiant V-200, Imperial Crown and Plymouth Fury. Metalflake (cool retro feature), gray, tan or white styrene re-issues won't matter. Since the early Johan and AMT MoPars will never be rereleased, the Revell kits are the next best thing.
  3. Google it. there are a number of spray-on PVA (polyvinyl alcohol) mold release agents available, including in quart size bottles, which can be either brushed or sprayed onto the mold. You can also use regular hairspray in a pinch. The PVA/hairspray can be cleaned off the resin part by rinsing in water.
  4. Those are copper-beryllium mold inserts. Read about copper alloys for injection molding HERE.
  5. Haven't seen anything more about it since Bill Geary posted pics of the one he had.
  6. Ah, you almost got it, Steve. 2 & 4 are the originals. Since just about all of my stuff is packed in preparation for the move next week, I had the dechromed front grille (No.1) and rear bumper )No.3) from my '60 Desoto salvage project in a container and an almost used up sheet of BMF still waiting to get tossed into a box. So, I wanted to see how well BMF would work on some compound curves and multi-recessed details. I guess it works pretty well, huh?
  7. Okay, let me clarify. Which of the parts pictured have the original chrome plating by the kit manufacturer? The lucky schlub what guesses correctly receives absolutely nothing except the knowledge that he possesses some very sharp MK1 eyeballs.
  8. He'd fit right in next to jimmy Flintstone's "The Burger King" figure. Anyhoo, Fonzie next to a mid-late '60s psuedo-Monkeemobile is anachronistic.
  9. I prefer Magic-Sculpt two part epoxy putty. Much better and finer grain than Milliput. It smooths easily with water, feathers nicely, so it's excellent for bodywork, fantastic for making things like convertible boots, etc. It's available in seven colors, covering almost.every styrene color possibility. There's a Magic-Sculpt Magic Sculpt Color Trial Kit available for twenty bucks, containing what's in the picture.
  10. Just saw this: 1968 REVELL VOLKSWAGEN BUG BEETLE 3 IN 1 MODEL KIT COUNTER STORE DISPLAY WOW! Ain't cheap, either.
  11. Restoration my.......fifth point of contact. That looks great, Richard.
  12. Add another great deal to the list. It'll bookend the Maserati 3500 GT I picked up a while ago. Not bad for 25 bucks:
  13. Snagged this minty Johan Caddy Fire Rescue Ambulance Gold Cup kit last night for literally almost nothing. If I mentioned how much I paid, you'd think I was making it up.
  14. RoG paints and model glues aren't distributed in the U.S. If you check out the sellers on Amazon, they are all European vendors. Besides, do you really want to spend $12 USD plus shipping for less than an ounce of model glue? Testors 8872C Liquid Cement is just as good and only costs around four bucks. Plus, you can find it in any decent art supply store.
  15. Note that the seller is from WEEDSport, New York. 'Nuff said.
  16. Thanks for all the well wishes, guys. Now, I don't need to invest in a wood chipper.
  17. Considering the hell we had to deal with, living in a refrigerator packing crate on the corner of Nassau Avenue and Russell Street would have been a quality of life improvement. We were hoping to get a place in Bensonhurst; but, that didn't pan out. The main consideration was that my kid has a fairly quick subway and/or limited stop bus commute to and from school (approx. 50 minutes) and his weekend job (approx. 30 minutes). Living just a five minute walk south to the beach, the Rockaway/ Brooklyn/Long Island City Ferry Terminal just two blocks north and the fact we have a yard are added bonuses.
  18. Finally got out of a toxic situation. My son, our cat and I are getting out of a bad deal and moving to a new 2BR pad in Rockaway Park, in Queens, NY. in 2-3 weeks. We'll be only a block away from the beach and still close enough to go back to my old nabe of Greenpernt and see old friends. It was long overdue; but, I was able to finally pull it off. It ain't, as Ralph Kramden says, Park Avenue; but, it's plenty swell enough for us. Now, we can take Fmeep to the boardwalk for his daily constitutionals. Chicks love cats.
  19. That might be; but, at least it's available. You won't find it at BNA Model World.
  20. Get it from TPB.
  21. The dude doesn't even respond from queries made on his website. Too bad. He offered a lot of great stuff, like the PE brake calipers.
  22. Atlantis supposedly bought the older "vintage/classic" tooling, which includes the early range of car kits. Salvino's grabbed the NASCAR stuff, from what I understand. All of the recent (mid-late '90s - present) are owned by RoG. Contacting Atlantis, and asking, might answer these questions.
