Cool looking build! Where did you get the Formula hood? A BIG +1 to that!

Sanding?Tamiya Rubber Tyres

I had this same problem with a set from the Tamiya Renault RE30B Turbo F1 car (1/20 scale). I chucked it up using a hand drill and still couldn't get rid of that seam. I think they were offset just a bit too. I gave up. They look better, but you can still see the seam. -
What non-auto model did you get today?

Thanks guys! Stephen, I know what you mean. Looks tiny in that huge engine bay. Lots of room to stick something else in there. I wasn't too worried about it because I used this kit just to get me back into the hobby. But like the tail-lights, I'd probably do something else under the hood if I were building it now. Yup! This was the kit they came from: I know some people didn't like this version due to in-accuracies. But I loved it. I have two built-ups that I did as a kid that I plan to redo at some point. -

I finished this one around Christmas. I didn't like the tilt front-end, so I glued the dog-house on and cut the hood out. Also filled in the sun-roof and shaved the roof ribs. That's about it. Rims are from an old Monogram Z/28 kit. Still not crazy about the tail-light panel on these, but at the time I wasn't sure what to do about it. I'd change that if I were gonna build another one. I'm interested to see how yours turns out. These things have a ton of potential for mods. -

Paint Booths & Safe Ventilation?
atomicholiday replied to Synister's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Don't know if these have been posted yet or not, but here are a couple of DIY spray booths. I'm seriously thinking about building one of these things. http://vent-works.com/blogs/the-ventilation-blog/15945741-diy-hobby-spray-booth http://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/808 -
I picked up one of these a while back myself. Looks pretty cool.

What was your 1st 1 to car

'77 Pontiac Firebird. White with a 3/4 black vinyl top. Absolutely LOVED that car. Right up until the moment when some idiot rear-ended it. -
What Did You Get Today? (Not Model Related)
atomicholiday replied to LOBBS's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Beautiful Mustang! I have wanted one of those since they first came out. Wasn't 1986 the first year for fuel injection in those? -
Looks great! I love the chrome flaking on the rear view mirror. Very realistic. And is that real cobweb?

I finally got this bird in primer! It's only been a little over a month... It hasn't been sitting idle the whole time though. Took me a while (and a few tries) to figure out what to do about those panel lines around the cowl. I ended up using stretched sprue for the lines in hard-to-reach places and scribing the rest. They all came out better than I expected, but I think they'll continue to improve as I get more practice. Once that was done, I shot it with Mr. Surfacer 1500 mixed 50/50 with leveling thinner. Next step: pre-shade the panel lines. I may start practicing shooting fine lines on scrap tonight .

Great looking build. I've always been curious about this kit.

Cool. Glad to hear another good review of it. I've got an Aztek that I've used for a long time, but there are a few things about it that I don't like. It's kinda fragile (plastic parts) and you can't buy replacement parts. So I'm hoping I like this (and the 105 that's coming) as replacements.

Post-man just dropped this off: Thought I'd give a single-action ab a shot for something different. Seems to be built very well. I just won a Badger 105 (double action, gravity feed) on ebay too (for more detailed work).

I'm not a rat-rod fan, but wow! Your workmanship is fantastic! That first picture could almost pass as a 1:1 car.

Lack of motivation to build

Same problem here. In fact, about half my kits are started.
