  1. There is a pretty good video on YouTube that explains the differences. I think it was done by Luka Cee. Check it out.
  2. Since the Pintera build is on hold until I can get to the store for paint stripper, I decided to pull this one back off the shelf. You guys are a little late to the party here, as I started this build around twenty years ago. This is the Testors boxing of the Italeri kit. Bought it brand new at a lhs (sadly long since closed) back in 1988. It sat pretty much untouched until the early 2000’s. As you’ll see, a lot of progress was made back then, but it eventually got shelved for reasons I don’t remember. Might have been around the time we moved. What’s finished- The body is done! Shot in Model Master Italian red (what else!) and some clear, probably MM too, with an airbrush, back when I had a good place to do that. Interior is also done! And finally, the engine is mostly finished. What’s that leave? I still need to finish the turbos and exhaust system. Also all suspension needs done, and then it’ll be ready for final assembly. Let’s see if I can push this old Ferrari across the finish line finally.
  3. Wee. They look great! True model car history.
  4. Cool car! And your pics always look so good.
  5. Man I completely forgot about that kit! I built that one as a kid! I remember thinking the boat was so cool. Wow, brings back memories.
  6. Mine is probably one of these. The top two are both sealed. Bottom one in the rough box is still on the trees, but missing the piece that mounts inside the body. I’m on the hunt for that part, because it’s definitely getting built!
  7. Sweet! Those colors are perfect. This one is on my bench now, and moving along slowly. Just can't decide what color I want.
  8. I've had really good luck with Krylon colormaxx semi-gloss black. To my eyes it's a good sheen for vinyl seats. Pretty cheap too.
  9. Just curious. How do you personally decide whether or not you’re going to create a WIP for your projects?
  10. This one is going in the paint stripper. Ever have one of those days when everything you touch turns to trash? That’s my weekend so far. Hate to lose all that body putty, but I’d never be happy with it as is. Same story you’ve all heard dozens of times. I wasn’t totally happy with the orange peel I got the first time around, so I sanded it smooth, watched a bunch of videos on how to get smooth finishes, and hit it with three light coats yesterday. The result was worse than before. In my infinite wisdom I decided to try again with another project I’ve been working on in between sessions with the Pinto. Screwed that one up too. So now I have two bodies to strip. Needless to say I’m a bit frustrated at this point. However I do think I know where I went wrong. Rewatching a few of the videos, I paid attention to how far away they held the can and how fast the passes were. Pretty sure I was holding the can a little too far away from the body. So in a last desperate attempt at some level of success I tried again this morning on a third body. I’m a glutton for punishment. However, this attempt went much better! I did get a couple of small runs, but overall it’s the smoothest finish I’ve ever laid down. Pretty sure I will be able to wet sand the runs down with little trouble. I haven’t started a WIP for this one (don’t know if I will or not) but I’ll post this here since it’s a part of my learning process for the Pintera. 70 1/2 Camaro. Told you I was a glutton for punishment! I’m thinking of getting some spoons and just going for it until I get consistent good results. Sorry this one is long winded. Just needed to vent some frustration. Thanks for listening and following me on this journey.
  11. Same here. I've bought kits I had no interest in until someone on here posted a really clean, sharp version. Then, suddenly I have to find one!
  12. That looks just about perfect. I wasn't even interested in this kit until I saw your build!
  13. Great workmanship on this one. Really sharp.
  14. Excellent job on a true classic. Beautiful.
  15. Both are stunning, but that wide body is crazy cool!
  16. Excellent build! That interior looks fantastic. Are the gages decals or painted?
  17. That is just gorgeous. Always wanted a Pocher kit. That’s my “grail”’.
  18. Beautiful build. Your scripts look fantastic! What method did you use for them?
  19. That looks really sweet! Really love the under hood detail. Vegas cleanly done.
  20. Sweet looking Impala! Makes me want to grab one and hit the bench!
  21. Beautiful build. Perfect color for that car. I grew up not too far from where those were built.
  22. Looks fantastic! I built that one as a kid and always wanted to find another to do now as an adult. Was fortunate enough to find a built-up cheap. The best part is nothing was painted and it was assembled with white school glue. Basically fell apart when I disassembled it!
  23. The weather finally got warm enough to paint outside so I took advantage after work today. The color is Testors Extreme Lacquer Star Spangled Blue from the rattle can. It laid down pretty good, just a small amount of orange peel in a few spots. My fault. I got a little impatient with it, since I’ve been waiting a few months to shoot it. Not sure if I want to clear coat it or just hit it with some light polishing compound. Thoughts on that?
