  1. Great job. Those colors are perfect!
  2. Sweet ride! It doesn't get much cooler than a '59 El Camino.
  3. I picked up a Revell issue of this kit Friday. Graphics are just dull though. I’d love to see them reissue this with some funky 70’s airbrush style graphic decals.
  4. I’m starting yet another kit today. I just picked this up Friday for $5 at Wally World. Didn’t realize it was a shortened body until I opened the box. At first I thought “no way ! That will never get built.” But it kinda got under my skin for some reason. The more I thought about it, the more possibilities I thought of. It’s pretty far from what I usually do, but lately I’ve been drawn to the oddballs and outcasts. That being said, I don’t have a clear vision for it yet, which is new for me too. I don’t normally begin work until I get a pretty clear idea of what I want in the end. Truthfully, some of it might have to do with the fact that I don’t really care if this kit comes out good or not. Sounds crazy, but I’ve been struggling with paint issues lately, and I need to do something to change gears and get excited again. So the only thing that is certain for this kit is that the paint will be an experiment of some kind. And for a fiver, if it’s a fail, no big deal. So here we go again! As always, comments, suggestions, tricks and tips are appreciated. Thanks for following along! Here’s the kit I’m starting with. I think it’s the same one as the “superbug gasser”. I cleaned up the body, trunk and hood. That’s as far as I am so far. Hmmm…. Drag car? Maybe stuff an engine in the front? No idea yet!?
  5. That was a good deal. I think I must have just misted out on it. When I checked it was out of stock. Now they're available again but at $20.
  6. Grocery night tonight and Wal Mart had these kits marked $5 a piece. Selection was very limited though. Picked over. I also went to the lhs in Fort Wayne and got some paint. Also very picked over. I guess I’m gonna have to find it online.
  7. What a rust bucket! Do you plan to restore it? Seriously though, that's really impressive work.
  8. That’s awesome! Made me smile!
  9. There’s only one left near me too. About an hour away. And he’s pretty limited on things related to plastic models. More geared towards RC.
  10. Maybe I could have been a little more clear too. What I’m really after isn’t “what do you use” or “what’s the best”. What I’m looking for is who’s got the best prices. Sorry for any confusion. Hey what can I say? I’m a cheap skate!?
  11. Wow. This is probably the coolest version of this kit I've seen yet.
  12. Awesome looking Olds! Nice job.
  13. Don't knock it until you've tried it. Tastes great and helps to keep the peanuts in place on your ice cream!
  14. Really nice! Is this the same as the Testors kit?
  15. Really nice! I have a few of these in the stash. Always been a little intimidated to start one.
  16. The discussion on Rustolium got me thinking. It seems the main reason most people (myself included) want to use paints like Rustolium, Krylon, etc, is price and convenience. I think most of us would agree that there are brands that are better quality, which give more consistent results. Tamiya and MCW come to mind. That being said, we all still want to get the best bang for our buck. So where do you get your “hobby specific” paint, and if you don’t mind telling, how much does it cost there? Please note- this thread is not meant to start an argument about cost. It’s intention is solely to provide information about where to get good prices for good paint. Thanks for your input!
  17. Same here. And it doesn’t seem to matter what paint I’m shooting.
  18. Lancia Stratos, one of my all time favorite cars. I just love the lines. And this one is gorgeous! Great job.
  19. Looks awesome. Super clean build.
  20. Gorgeous build. Your workmanship is outstanding.
  21. Wow…. Just an amazing build! Love everything about this. It kinda reminds me of the concept cars of the 50’s.
  22. That’s just awesome! And Young Frankenstein is one of my favorites. So many great lines!
  23. So what’s with all the ‘29s lately? I’ll play though-
  24. I’m not big on primer normally but that looks awesome! Great work.
  25. Cool. I rarely hear of anyone mention Fort Wayne. I'm about half an hour north of there. We now resume your regularly scheduled thread, already in progress! ?
