Side-mirror glass template help
atomicholiday replied to atomicholiday's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Some really good suggestions from everyone. I hadn't even thought of using chrome Mylar. That would be perfect. I think I have a plan now. Thanks everyone for your input. -
That's drop-dead gorgeous.

Wow... Beautiful build. Very clean job.

Looks pretty cool in primer just as it is. Just a little bit sinister.

Been working on this one a little more. I decided I wasn’t happy with the primer. I felt it was too thick, so I stripped it off too. This thing has been in the pool three times now… So I’m back to doing body work again. It’s starting to feel more like I’m building a model in reverse. My next update might just show me gluing parts back onto the sprue!? I do think it was the right thing to do though. I don’t feel like I would have been happy with it otherwise. So since it’s back to raw plastic, I thought I’d show a little of the body work since I skipped it at the beginning of this wip. I need to sand a bit more and then hit it with a light primer coat to check my progress. Here you can see how the front end fits together after a ton of shaping. It fits nothing like this when you start. I decided to change colors too. After seeing it in the blue, I wasn’t digging it. The shade felt a little too “modern” for the vibe I want. Instead, I’m going with Dupli-color forest green pearl. I think it’s a Chrysler color. To me, it feels more 70’s. Never shot this stuff before, so I’m going spoon painting soon to try it out and get used to it. Last update. I’m calling the engine done!

Side-mirror glass template help
atomicholiday posted a topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Hey all, I’m working on a kit that came with side-mirrors, but no actual mirror glass. Is there an easy way to make a template for the shape? I’m thinking of using clear packaging material and painting the inside or using bmf on the outside for the mirror. Just not sure of a good way to cut out the right shape. -
Looking really good so far. Those wheels are gonna be perfect for this ride!

I think these are really cool. This kit was on my most wanted list until finally finding one recently. This one looks great! How did the build go for you?

Wow! Great looking truck! -
Got a bunch of paint today. This is part of my ongoing struggle to get good paint jobs. Going to be picking up some duplicolor perfect match sometime soon too. But this is a pretty good start.

Those both look great! The ‘55 looks almost complete already. And your choice of color is perfect. Looking forward to seeing both of them under glass.. -
Nope. It’s got an engine and even a couple different exhaust options. Not sure how much detail there is though. I haven’t checked it out yet.

Looks awesome. Very cool build. Where did I put those sunglasses…?

That is stunning. My opinion, this was possibly the most beautiful race car ever built. -

Andy is right. They aren't in the toy department. At Christmas time they were back by where all the trees were. Now they're in the middle of the store in a display stand. Also, it looks like not many Wal Marts even had kits. I checked about half a dozen stores and this was the only one that had them.

That's really cool. Never seen that kit before.
