  1. If you burn through the color coat when wet sanding, is it possible to tape off and repaint a small section? Then blend it in? Or do you have to strip and repaint? If it is possible, what should be used to remove any residue from polishing compound? I’m using Novus 3 right now. Was just finishing and getting ready to start #2, when I noticed the fender already looked like #2. I screwed up on the tiniest spot. I’m going to try to touch up anyway because I have nothing to lose. But I want some input before I do it.
  2. Seems like they only get different kits about once or maybe twice a year if you're lucky. At least locally that's how it is . But they're pretty good about keeping what they carry stocked. Wish Micheals did a better job of keeping models stocked.
  3. My wife car is a 2018 Impresa sport 5 speed. Probably the best car we've ever owned. I want a WRX sti so bad I can taste it!
  4. My family are all die-hard stick shift fanatics. Have you tried to find one lately? We had to special order our last two vehicles. Proud papa moment. Taught my daughter how to drive in my old 5 speed Honda civic (also the same car we brought her home in when she was born). Now she won't drive anything but stick. Rare breed for a 24 year old.
  5. That’s great! Just stick with it and take your time. Read every WIP thread, tips and tricks thread and questions thread you can stand, watch videos, etc…. It does get easier with experience.
  6. Completely agree with this advice. Also, check out YouTube. Just being able to see someone doing this stuff is extremely helpful. I pull up modelling specific videos all the time, and have learned a lot from them. Stick with it and don't get discouraged. We've all gone through this. It gets easier with practice and a little help.
  7. Hobby lobby run for some paint today and I picked up this kit. I’ve never built it and don’t know anything about it. I prefer unmodified muscle cars normally, but the box art really catches my eye. Also, the price was right.
  8. It depends on a few things. You said you used Testors clear lacquer. It's relatively mild compared to automotive paint. But if you sprayed it too heavy you could have problems. What brand of enamel paint is your color coat? Also, can you post pictures of the paint job?
  9. Specifically what type of paint is your color coat and clear coat? Sounds like they aren’t compatible. Like maybe color coat is enamel and clear is lacquer?
  10. I find myself in a slump frequently. I don’t get nearly enough bench time, so my slump is a result of not being sure where to begin after an extended break. I’m lucky right now because I feel like I’m on a roll. Things are progressing and I’m having fun. But I know it’s only a matter of time. The hardest part for me is just picking up a tool or part and just starting. I find once I begin, the creative juices start flowing pretty soon. Probably not the best answer you’ll get, but it’s where I’m at. Edit- The other thing that will throw me into a slump is hitting a wall with a project that I can’t find a solution to. That’s a sure fire way to get me to shelve a model.
  11. Would it be worth pulling the best bits from both kits together? Might be an interesting possibility.
  12. Wow. That's really nice. Excellent workmanship.
  13. Super clean build. I've been too intimidated by the side molding to try this one. Yours looks perfect.
  14. It's pretty close though...?
  15. Sweet! I know it’s not a very popular body style with mustang fans, but I always really liked them.
  16. Got started rubbing out the clear coat on my Camaro build. Trunk and roof are thru 12000 grit now. It seems like lately I'm getting very little bench time in. If I'm really lucky I get half an hour. Too much other stuff going on right now, but it's driving me crazy! I WANT MORE MODEL TIME!
  17. You should definitely wear a mask. Something specifically designed for painting (not like a covid mask). Even paining outside, I recommend it. I paint outside exclusively, and I can’t tell you how many times a breeze has shifted and blown the overspray back at me. Your health is far more important than a good paint job.?
  18. Love that Cannondale! I ride a caad 8.
  19. Steve, your work never fails to impress. And it's not only your workmanship, but color choices too. Very tasteful.
  20. Thanks! This was shot with good old fashioned, square-bottle Testors black enamel through an airbrush . No clear coat. Just shot it, let it fully cure, and wet sanded.
