  1. Gorgeous build. Nice job!?
  2. I spent MANY hours with my head stuffed under a dashboard, or climbing into a trunk installing stereos back in the 80’s and 90’s. Love that stuff! Although I was more into Kenwood and Alpine back then. Who remembers Kraco??
  3. Actually, that looks like it would make a perfect jet engine.?
  4. Gorgeous. Really great build quality.
  5. I kinda like this. Funky.
  6. Completely my own fault, but I just dropped a full bottle of Testors liquid cement on the floor at my bench. No one to be mad at but me.?? On the up side, it a cement floor, and no model parts were involved. But I do have to vacate the area for a while. Those fumes are potent!
  7. Picked this up in a Goodwill yesterday. Marshall 4x12 speaker cabinet. Score!! It’s from 1995 and is in excellent condition. Who the heck turns something like this in to Goodwill for absolutely nothing? This is the second speaker cab I’ve scored from two different locations. Crappy picture, I know.
  8. Been pretty busy lately so I’m not getting much bench time. Sundays are pretty much it if I’m lucky enough to get that much. But I wanted to do a quick mock up after paint to make sure I still like the direction this project is going and more importantly make sure I don’t see any major issues before I tackle the bmf on the body. Just ignore the dust!? Gotta say, stripping the blue and going with this green. I’m really glad I did it. The blue is an awesome color, and I plan to use at some point on something else. But I wasn’t feeling it on this particular project after I saw it painted.
  9. You scratch built that? Wow! Looks terrific! How long did it take you?
  10. I think you nailed it with that finish. Terrific weathering!
  11. You definitely overcame the obstacles. This is one gorgeous Camaro build. Great work.?
  12. Hands down worst for me was an ‘89 Ford Escort GT. Ran great as long as the weather was good. Once it got below 10 degrees F, it would buck really hard while driving. Just what you don’t want on icy roads.
  13. Another great build. Excellent work Ray.
  14. That looks terrific. Never seen one of thesebuilt. Very cool!
  15. Do they still make this stuff? I’m thinking Turtle Wax either changed the formula or put it in a different bottle.
  16. Some more GM torch red for my Camero project (after it’s swim in the purple pond is over).
  17. Beautiful build. You have to love that grill!
  18. If you don’t see any paint buildup, I wouldn’t worry about the staining. Sand it smooth and prime it.
  19. Same with the modeling supplies. Never seen them on sale.
  20. Interesting. Both the Pintera and Camaro were both shot with just three coats. That's probably why I burned through on the Camaro. Lesson learned. One difference between the two is the amount of water used in the wet sanding process. With the Camaro, I just dipped the pads and started sanding, so there was a lot of water on the model surface. But on the Pintera, I dabbed most of the water off the pads, leaving them just damp enough to still have a lubricating effect. In my mind, this should allow me to see color on the pads if I go through the clear coat. Thanks for that tip Steve. Of course, I was also being much more careful around the edges too.
  21. Just finished rubbing it out.
  22. So any who’s been following my plight for the past few months knows I’ve been having a heck of a time getting a decent finish, and when I do, I screw up wet sanding. (See my thread on touching up burn through) At one point I told my wife I was going to burn all my kits and tools. I needed a win. I think I can say I got it finally. Just finished rubbing this one out. It ain’t perfect, but it’s a far cry better than I’ve been putting out lately. The kits are safe for now. Just don’t let me play with matches for a while. Thanks to all for your advice.
  23. Those are both stunning. At a glance the Caddie looks real. I actually have an airbrush. Just need to figure out how to vent it from my basement.
