  1. That is really cool. Great job on the build too. Very clean.
  2. That’s pretty much what I was thinking too. Everybody has different reasons for being on this forum with the common thread being building models. And each one of us will participate (or not) depending on our needs. It’s what makes the world go round.? Personally, I’m in it for the glory and chicks.
  3. That’s just polished plastic? It looks amazing! Great looking build.
  4. That’s a great story and even better reason to build.
  5. That's looking really good so far. I've never built this one, but I love Monogram kits from that period (well, pretty much all periods if truth be told). Glad to see you're just cleaning up the old build and not totally redoing it. You've got the right idea. It's a part of your history in the hobby and can act as a benchmark for where you were and where you're going. Keep up the good work!
  6. That foil looks flawless. Like it could actually be a separate piece of trim. Excellent job.
  7. Did a little running around town and picked these up today.
  8. That has to be what I saw.. pretty cool.
  9. Does somebody make a really good kit car of the Ferrari 250 gto? I saw one while driving, going the opposite direction. I seriously doubt it was real, but assuming it was a kit car, it was very convincing. No pics. I was driving.
  10. Nice! It’s not easy to do rigging, and even harder at that scale.
  11. That looks about as good as it gets. Excellent workmanship.
  12. This isn’t model car related, but it is a model. Been looking for it for a while now. This is for the VK Nieuport 17 I picked up a while back. Sorry if there is another thread for non-car related items. I didn’t see one.
  13. While I’m there I’ll pick up some good old lead paint. ?
  14. Hmmm…. Latex paint on model cars. It could work! Now then, what nap roller should I use for that glassy eggshell finish?
  15. Looks really sharp. Great color.
  16. This is looking really good so far. I was having a hard time envisioning the concept at the beginning of the thread, but now I completely get it. Gonna be an awesome ride.
  17. I think I’m gonna call the floor pan done too, except for some minor touch-ups after assembly. The white blocks are what I’m going to mount the side pipes to. They will get touched up later. And yes, I did say side pipes! Speaking of which, I did some work on them the other day too. I opened up the hole at the end. They’re flat right out of the box. Ugly. I may open them a little more, but I’m afraid I’ll go to far and cut through the side of the pipe. We’ll see. Haven’t decided yet.
  18. Some really good suggestions from everyone. I hadn't even thought of using chrome Mylar. That would be perfect. I think I have a plan now. Thanks everyone for your input.
  19. That's drop-dead gorgeous.
  20. Wow... Beautiful build. Very clean job.
  21. Looks pretty cool in primer just as it is. Just a little bit sinister.
  22. Been working on this one a little more. I decided I wasn’t happy with the primer. I felt it was too thick, so I stripped it off too. This thing has been in the pool three times now… So I’m back to doing body work again. It’s starting to feel more like I’m building a model in reverse. My next update might just show me gluing parts back onto the sprue!? I do think it was the right thing to do though. I don’t feel like I would have been happy with it otherwise. So since it’s back to raw plastic, I thought I’d show a little of the body work since I skipped it at the beginning of this wip. I need to sand a bit more and then hit it with a light primer coat to check my progress. Here you can see how the front end fits together after a ton of shaping. It fits nothing like this when you start. I decided to change colors too. After seeing it in the blue, I wasn’t digging it. The shade felt a little too “modern” for the vibe I want. Instead, I’m going with Dupli-color forest green pearl. I think it’s a Chrysler color. To me, it feels more 70’s. Never shot this stuff before, so I’m going spoon painting soon to try it out and get used to it. Last update. I’m calling the engine done!
  23. Hey all, I’m working on a kit that came with side-mirrors, but no actual mirror glass. Is there an easy way to make a template for the shape? I’m thinking of using clear packaging material and painting the inside or using bmf on the outside for the mirror. Just not sure of a good way to cut out the right shape.
