What non-auto model did you get today?
atomicholiday replied to chunkypeanutbutter's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I like that I can find the Revogram stuff cheap, but I'm thinking about stepping it up a bit for the next purchase. Might start looking for something from Eduard or Hasegawa. Just to see what the fuss is all about. -
Wow Steve. Really great build. I love the color combo.

71-73 mustang
atomicholiday replied to Modelcarjedi's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Agreed. This is probably as good as you'll find. The '73 kit is kind of a mess. Missing a lot of parts required to build it stock. -
That's awesome. Really nice build.

My first WIP here; '70 Dodge Challenger T/A, Parts

I'm going thru the same thing, but in reverse. I still have a hard time with the idea of gluing fuselage halves together, attaching wings, etc... before paint. I get why you should do it that way, but being a car modeller for so long, it just goes against the grain for me. -
Yes! And a 1/25 AMX while we're at it.

I'm guessing attaching them before paint stems from being primarily an aircraft modeller? Kind of like using NATO black earlier in the build. I never even heard of NATO colors until I started building planes. Regardless, it's really looking great so far. -

That color looks sweet! Great looking older build. Between you and Joe, you're making me want to dig my Challenger out of the stash and go back to work on it. I finished mine in Panther Pink, but screwed up the clear coat and put it aside in disgust. Fifteen years ago... -
Got one of these today from ebay. Looks like a really nice kit. Oh yeah, had a couple bottles of Alclad II arrive too.

Revell '70 Mustang assembly question
atomicholiday replied to atomicholiday's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks for the confirmations, gentlemen! -
Question for anyone who's built one of these things before: Is there any reason why I can't attach the front and rear panels to the body before paint and before installing the chassis/interior? I don't see anything that would cause interference, but I don't want to do it and then find an assembly problem later.

Looking excellent. It's hard to believe this is your first shot at polishing. I've done it a half dozen times and that looks better than any of my attempts.
